VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals Introduce
For pet owners across **Southeastern Wisconsin**, especially in the greater Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Waukesha areas, one constant truth is that emergencies rarely happen during standard business hours. When your beloved dog, cat, or even exotic pet faces a sudden illness, injury, or critical health crisis, every minute counts. Having immediate access to a dedicated, fully-staffed emergency and critical care facility is essential for peace of mind and, most importantly, for your pet's life-saving care.
The **VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals (MECA)**, located in **Greenfield, Wisconsin**, is designed to be that immediate and expert resource. Operating as a 24-hour veterinary hospital, its primary focus is on emergency and critical care medicine. Since opening its doors, the hospital has focused on delivering exceptional, round-the-clock medical, diagnostic, and surgical services when your regular veterinarian is unavailable or when the situation requires a higher level of intensive care.
What truly sets this center apart, beyond its state-of-the-art equipment, is the deep compassion and understanding shown to pets and their families during highly stressful times. Customer testimonials consistently highlight the kindness and gentle approach of the doctors and assistants, particularly in managing emergent situations and providing peaceful final moments when necessary. The staff understands that when you walk through their doors, you are dealing with a crisis, and they strive to handle every pet with immediate triage and utmost care. For example, one German Shepherd owner noted they were met at the door by assistants with a gurney, and a doctor assessed their pet before they had even finished paperwork, illustrating the swift, condition-based prioritization of service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My family took our 16 year old beagle to cross the rainbow bridge today. They were kind and gentle with our dog and walked us through her final moments. They gave us all the time we needed before and after. This was the first for us and we’re content that our old girl got to go as peacefully as possible. Thank you VCA for doing this tough job, and thank you from our family. Lucy is free to run wild as she once did and thank you showing her kindness and love. She was a good girl and the best big sister to our other dogs. Until we all meet again sweet Lucy Magoo
July 26 · Lana SaypanyaWe came home a few weeks ago to find our 11 1/2 year old German Shepherd unable to get up. I called and asked what the wait time was and they said they based service on severity of condition. We were met at the door by two assistants with a gurney. They took her right back and by the time I parked the car and had the information filled out, Dr. Richter had already assessed her. The outcome was not as we would have hoped, but they dealt with her and us with such compassion and understanding. They gave us all the time and space we needed.
August 02 · Danell KrawczykI took my sweet 12 year old pup, Libby, here after she was acting extremely lethargic and hiding under our bed. We were seen very quickly and I was told it was a very bad infection that would require surgery. Unfortunately she had a significant heart murmur and with her age, the vet expressed that it would be difficult to ensure that she would pull through the surgery, and the cost of the surgery plus aftercare was estimated to be $7-8,000. We couldn't afford that and even if we could, I didn't want her to pass on the table surrounded by strangers. The vet then brought up how I needed to consider her quality of life, and I had to make the hardest choice in my life, to let her go.Everyone was SO compassionate towards me and let me spend all the time that i needed with her, before and after the euthanasia. I didn't feel rushed or judged at all and am so grateful that everyone was so kind and gentle during one of the worst days of my life. They also sent me a sympathy card a few day later, which my whole family appreciates ❤I get to pick up my girl's ashes and urn in about a week & I can't wait to bring her home.I totally recommend VCA for your pet's emergency needs. They are such caring people.
June 23 · Bear GriffinWe took our 7-year-old male cat Max in due to a possible urinary blockage and the service was excellent! The triage nurse took him right in to be checked as I answered all the necessary questions, etc. Elizabeth was very thorough with the check in and answered any question I had. Once in the room. we waited only a brief time until Dr. Lynch came in and explained very thoroughly procedures that were taking place, she gave us a timeline of events for Max due to his blockage, and made us feel very assured that he was and is receiving the best care possible. The VCA Milwaukee Emergence Center for Animals is not the first of its kind that we have used, but they are by far the best!
August 28 · Tom & Mary GildingKind, honest, and caring are the three qualities I really want to see when going to any vet. I drove about 2 hours to be seen due to our local ER being at capacity. Not only was I seen immediately, my concerns for my pet were addressed honestly. They were addressed to the comfort of my pet, and they cared enough to tell me the best course of action with my cat. I wish I got the name of the person helping me because they were caring in my few moments of distress and that went a long way on my drive home.
