For pet owners in St. Louis, Missouri, UrgentVet Lemay is worth choosing primarily because of its specialized niche: providing expert, compassionate care for urgent, non-life-threatening issues when most general practice vets are closed. The core value of this clinic lies in its ability to deliver Same-day After-hours Care that is significantly more affordable and less stressful than a full emergency hospital visit.
The commitment to the Fear-Free Certified Veterinary Services model is a major highlight. As evidenced by a customer review of a senior dog's visit, the staff’s attentiveness—including sitting on the floor to comfort a nervous pet and using aromatherapy—demonstrates a deep dedication to emotional well-being that goes beyond standard care. This focus is invaluable for pets who typically suffer from vet anxiety.
Furthermore, the quality of care is not sacrificed for convenience or cost. Customer testimonials highlight the immediate attention, the cleanliness of the facility, and the life-saving impact of their diagnostics, such as quickly identifying and treating an intestinal block. This fast-action approach and the availability of immediate diagnostic services like X-Ray Services ensures that critical, yet non-emergency, conditions are addressed promptly and effectively. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- So glad I found this place! My vet was closed since it was a Saturday. It was important to get him seen asap since he is a senior dog, the sooner he gets on medicine the better. They were absolutely amazing from the time I arrived to time I left. The place is extremely clean and they took us back as soon as I arrived. My dog is usually nervous at the vet but not here! They have aromatherapy in the rooms to keep your pet calm. The vet got down on her hands and knees, and sat on the floor next to my dog to keep him comfortable, instead of just keeping him on the table, making him nervous. They were very attentive professional and very reasonably priced!!!! Couldn’t ask for more! August 03 · Rachel Viola
- My husband and I brought in our seven year-old pitbull yesterday for some x-rays. The staff there is absolutely wonderful, it is a very clean facility. Their prices are not bad either, keeping in mind that it is an urgent care facility. It was definitely worth the drive, time and money. Their fast action definitely helped saved my dog. Thanks again for helping find the block in my fur babies intestine!- Cooper (aka Mr. Wigglebutt) and family. ❤️ August 18 · Carrissa Ayres
- Do NOT take your pet to UrgentVet.We brought our dog in after she ripped her nail and exposed the quick. The vet walked in, looked at it for less than five minutes, and immediately said she needed to be sedated and have the nail completely amputated—no discussion of other options. They gave us a quote for over $1,200, which was shocking for something so minor.I ended up getting eight other professional opinions, and not a single one recommended amputating the quick or sedating her. Every other vet said it would heal naturally with basic care—no need for surgery, sedation, or excessive costs. It became very clear UrgentVet was more interested in maximizing profits than doing what was genuinely best for our pet. When we told them we couldn’t afford their outrageous treatment plan, they simply handed us dog ibuprofen and a cone, saying, “It should heal fine on its own.” So why try to charge us over $1,200 in the first place?Avoid this place at all costs. They tried to prey on our panic and upsell us on unnecessary procedures. This isn’t care—it’s exploitation. The only positive part of our experience was Abby, the assistant—she was kind, compassionate, and truly made an awful situation a little more bearable. She deserves recognition, even though the rest of the visit was a complete disappointment. July 02 · Gianna Amelia
- Dr. Patton and Nurse Shauna were so kind and thorough with Buck. We feel like we got proper treatment without unnecessary services. Very cost efficient for an urgent care without sacrificing quality! Very professional! Would recommend. July 05 · claire eaker
- Brought my 15yr old collie in on an emergency situation. All the people were super friendly , answered all my questions, and most importantly took the time to care for what you’re dealing with. It’s hard to see your pets in pain but everyone here really made it smooth and easy. Plus my baby girl didn’t get too scared. She’s doing much better since our visit!! Thanks again!
