While the vast majority of local clients seek and receive excellent, professional care, it is important for the community to acknowledge that, like any public-facing organization, the clinic has faced some challenges and serious concerns have been raised by a few individuals. These concerns have touched on issues regarding thoroughness during the adoption process and, in a severe instance, allegations of racial bias during client interactions. Pet owners who are part of minority groups, particularly the Black community, make up a significant portion of the Alabama population, with the non-Hispanic Black population accounting for approximately 27.3% of the state's total population according to recent census data. Ensuring every customer feels respected and receives unbiased, equitable treatment is paramount for any business serving the diverse community of Homewood and Birmingham. When selecting a care provider, clients should rely on current experiences and the overall reputation of the facility for providing expert medical service, which often involves a large volume of positive patient outcomes across many years.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I adopted my pup (boxer pit mix) from them in February of 2024. Very nice staff when handling the adoption process. But I was told there was extensive tests done on him to make sure he was in good health. Was told he was perfectly fine and healthy, as the papers said he tested negative for everything. When I brought him home he would itch about every 5 minutes. He would sleep an incredible amount (he’s a puppy yes but it was excessive). I took him to my vet I have used for years where he was diagnosed with MANGE, two types of intestinal worms, and 2 parasites. He had to be treated for all of his diagnosis. I called to let them know that my dogs brothers and sister most likely had mange and they really showed no care, nor apologized for the situation. Through the adoption process they were extremely helpful but after they sell that dog, they couldn’t give a damn what happened to it in their care. May 13 · MaKayla Grace
- The workers within this establishment are extremely racist. My friend who is a black man, was bringing in a cat whom him and his gf found on the street a week prior because she could not get along with their boy cats. Other than that she was a very sweet cat. They homed and fed her for the week until ultimately deciding to bring her to a non-kill shelter hoping she would get adopted. Amongst bringing her in, the worker in the shelter called the cops on him and they were asking all the wrong questions making it seem like it was animal cruelty and asked about his car, wanting his id, and asking if he had any weapons. Then the worker stated that they were going to keep HIS crate that he brought the cat in with.Overall extremely racist situation that should not have happened. This wouldn’t have happened if he was a white man or if he brought his white partner with him. Shame on yall. August 15 · Skye H
- DONT COME HERE IF YOURE A PERSON OF COLOR racist establishment. my boyfriend brought in a cat i found under my car and we tried hard to keep her but she didn’t like our cats. so he took her here after she said animal control was called 2 police officers showed up (i looked it up they only come for extreme circumstances or in case of animal cruelty which neither are true she’s been fed twice a day for nearly a week. the cops asking him a billion questions if he had weapons on him and about his car and saying “you look familiar where do i know you from” even though he only came to drop a very sweet car off they we could not keep so where all these other questions where coming from is insane. i was on the phone the whole interaction. she also wanted to keep our cat. if you’re a person of color don’t come here they’ll probably call the cops since that’s their idea of a business August 15 · Huddy
- I took my guinea pig in for a check up and to get her claws clipped. The staff were so kind to us. We did have to wait for about an hour to see the vet. I'm sure he was busy. The facility was clean. This will be our new vet moving forward. July 09 · Andrea Montgomery
- have been using this practice for 20 years for more for 3 different dogs. all of the care providers are personable and good to my animals- my dog dog loves to go to the back treatment rooms to investigate, especially the cat room. they provide excellent care even when unusual situations present and have great ability to think outside the box.
