I paid the $100 deposit to have our cat spade. Unfortunately she passed away before the appointment. I canceled in advance before 7 days. They charged me $5 to process the refund even though I gave advanced notice. The other issue I had was that no one answers the phone to be able to cancel an appointment. When my phone call was returned the person who I spoke with seemed empathetic about our beloved pet passing away. I think that a full refund is warranted. - Aleisha Bird Cole

The Spay/Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills is a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay-neuter clinic uniquely positioned to serve dogs and cats in the North Carolina Sandhills and surrounding areas. Since opening its doors in December 2007, the clinic has performed over 88,000 spay and neuter surgeries, demonstrating its significant impact on the pet community. Their mission extends beyond just surgery; they actively work with shelters, rescue groups, and individual pet owners to ensure that animals receive necessary veterinary care, even when financial constraints are a concern. The strategic placement on Bragg Boulevard ensures that whether you are traveling from the downtown area, military installations, or other residential neighborhoods, the clinic is relatively straightforward to reach. This ease of access is particularly beneficial for appointments that require a quick drop-off and pick-up, such as spay/neuter procedures. While some public feedback mentions that parking can occasionally be challenging, the overall convenience of the location, coupled with clear signage, helps minimize stress for pet owners. Services Offered

The Spay/Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills specializes in high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services, but their offerings extend to other essential preventative care. Their streamlined approach allows them to provide these vital services at an affordable price point.

  • Spay/Neuter Surgeries: This is their primary focus, offering affordable spaying for female cats and dogs and neutering for male cats and dogs. This includes cryptorchid neutering (for undescended testicles). Their expertise in this area ensures efficient and safe procedures aimed at reducing pet overpopulation.
  • Canine and Feline Vaccinations: Providing essential vaccinations for both dogs and cats to protect against common and serious diseases, often offered at a low cost. They also hold community-wide vaccination clinics to increase accessibility.
  • Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation as a crucial form of permanent identification, significantly increasing the chances of lost pets being reunited with their families.
  • Wellness Care: Beyond spay/neuter, they offer general wellness services, providing a foundation for ongoing pet health. This can include basic health assessments.
  • Umbilical Hernia Repair: Addressing minor surgical needs like umbilical hernia repair during spay/neuter procedures.
  • Mobile Surgical Clinic (Spay Shuttle): The clinic operates a mobile surgery unit, the "Spay Shuttle," which has allowed them to expand their reach and perform remote surgeries and vaccination clinics in areas of greatest need within the surrounding counties.
  • Financial Assistance Programs: Through partnerships (like with SNIP, a non-profit), they work to provide low-cost/no-cost services and offer financial assistance programs (e.g., the FIXX Fund and vouchers) to subsidize the cost of surgeries and vaccinations for owners who might be in a tight financial position.
Features / Highlights

The Spay/Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills is highly regarded in the Fayetteville community for several key features that resonate strongly with local pet owners, particularly those seeking accessible and affordable care.

  • Dedicated to Low-Cost, High-Quality Sterilization: This is their defining feature. They are specifically designed to be a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay-neuter clinic. This focus allows them to offer essential surgeries at a significantly lower price point than many full-service veterinary hospitals, making responsible pet ownership more accessible to the North Carolina community. As one satisfied client stated, they found the service "very inexpensive compared to what my vet wanted to charge."
  • Compassionate and Professional Staff: Despite being a high-volume clinic, reviews consistently praise the staff for being "very professional," "caring," "polite," and having the "furbabies' best interest at heart." This commitment to compassionate interactions, even during a streamlined process, is highly valued by pet owners.
  • Focus on Pet Overpopulation Control: Their primary mission is to provide affordable pet surgeries to address the pet overpopulation problem in North Carolina. Since their opening in 2007, they have performed over 88,000 surgeries, showcasing their significant positive impact on the community.
  • Flexible and Accommodating Service (with caveats): One reviewer highlighted the clinic's willingness to "work with us when we adopted one out and no longer needed the service" and allowing them to "move our appointment date when another had a litter." This shows a degree of flexibility and understanding for pet owners' changing circumstances. However, it is also noted in their deposit policy that cancelling or rescheduling with less than 7 days' notice may result in deposit forfeiture, with a $5 processing fee for refunds on longer notice. This transparency is important for clients to understand.
  • Community-Oriented Initiatives: Their use of a mobile surgical unit (the "Spay Shuttle") to reach areas of greatest need, and their involvement in community-wide vaccination clinics, demonstrate a strong commitment to public health and animal welfare beyond their physical clinic.
  • Positive Customer Experiences & Recommendations: Many reviews express strong satisfaction, with clients saying they "Love them," "definitely recommend and return," and consider Fayetteville "very fortunate to have this clinic."
