★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- My Golden Retriever had an infection after delivering her puppies. Of course it became obvious after regular hours. Horton’s was open, so that’s where I headed. I had to bring the puppies to get mamma to get in the car. The staff didn’t bat an eye at my laundry basket full of 2 day old puppies. They were all so nice! After my golden was checked out, options and prices were clearly written out & provided to me. This was appreciated so checkout didn’t give me a heart attack. Despite this being an emergency and my dog needing an ultrasound and medication, Horton’s fees were reasonable. Both the vet that night and the vet today at the follow up were professional and kind. All the vet techs and staff at the counter were great. These people clearly care about the animals (and owners) they are there to help. I did have a good outcome, but that’s not why I’m giving them a good review. It’s because they deserve it. Thank you Horton’s for helping my Ellie and her puppies! June 25 · debs me
- Horton took compassionate care of our sweet puppy. All worries we had were discussed in a kind and professional manner. All treatment options were presented and communicated effectively. We felt confident and at ease, or at least as much as possible, while he was being treated. Thank you, Horton! Coco says “thanks!” Hopefully we never need future emergency care, but if we do, we know who to trust. August 19 · Jennifer Redmond
- I lost my sweet, sweet girl - to no fault of this wonderful clinic. The week before, when she was struggling with unrelated issues, Amy was amazingly helpful over the phone. She remained this way even as I calmed down and decided the best course of action would be to stay home until the next day (with vet-approved interventions). The next week, she had surgery to remove a cancerous mass - she had an excellent prognosis and got to come home. But life doesn't follow prognoses, and she passed away from complications in my arms around 4:30 AM the next morning. We came in to confirm her death. I just wanted to make sure she wasn't suffering any longer - and Victoria tried to ease the suffering of me and my fiancé.She was, and will forever be, my best friend. Thank you for 19 long years, old friend. Rest easy.I will struggle with my decision to consent to her procedure until long after I die, but I will never regret or lament coming to this clinic. - I took my dog to their emergency room earlier this week. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. We were seen by the techs and the vet very quickly. Luckily, what was going on with my pet was very fixable. I’m so glad we have such great emergency services in this town. I would 100% recommend to others. Thank you Horton! April 10 · Marita Karl
- I love them. I truly do. I wish I lived closer so they could be our primary vet—I wish I could give them 10 stars. My husband and I made the long trip from Colorado to North Carolina to pick up our new baby girl, Yuna, from a close friend. We’d been planning this for months. With 27 hours of travel ahead of us, hotel stays, pit stops for our other pup, and my overwhelming fear of Parvo (which can be fatal in just 12–24 hours), I was on edge the entire time. When I noticed Yuna’s stool shift drastically from firm to pure liquid, I hit my breaking point. I felt like I had already failed her.We called multiple clinics—price wasn’t the issue, time was. Our original plan had been to stop at a vet that closed at 8PM, but we weren’t going to make it in time. That’s when I found Horton. When I saw they were truly open 24/7—even on holidays—I called immediately. They answered with compassion. We were 30 minutes away, and they told us to come at 6PM. I asked if 5:30 was possible. I think they could hear the fear and sadness in my voice—because they said yes.We pulled in, and they had us stay in the car while they conducted the Parvo test right there. They said if it was positive, they’d proceed with the next steps. If negative, we were good to go.Those 8 minutes in the car were agonizing. But then the call came: She was negative. Yuna did not have Parvo. The relief I felt in that moment—after already losing our oldest dog this month on Mother’s Day—was overwhelming. I had been so scared to fail another pup.Shay, you amazing, amazing human being—you genuinely cared for my baby girl. You helped soothe my fear in ways I can’t explain. Thank you for telling me Yuna is healthy. Even though she has runny diarrhea, she’s okay—and I can finally breathe again. We already have a vet visit scheduled back in Colorado, and because the Parvo test came back negative, Horton refunded the emergency visit cost. They said the test was covered—and I think they got their real payment in grateful Yuna kisses. If you’re unsure which emergency vet to trust—go here. This experience will stay with me and Yuna forever. Thank you, Shay, from the bottom of my heart. June 07 · Shelby Meade
