★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can't say enough great things about Waverly Animal Hospital! Every time I visit, the entire staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. They've taken wonderful care of all my pets over the years, and I truly feel like each one is treated as a valued member of the family, which is exactly what every pet owner hopes for. I have so much respect for each veterinarian and technician, their professionalism, compassion, and dedication are unmatched. Thank you for all you’ve done for my pets and my family, I look forward to continuing to trust Waverly Animal Hospital for many years to come!
June 11 · Darren DonnellyEmergency surgery for my dog. Cost was reasonable and fair, but, more importantly, my dog was well-cared for. Thank you to an amazing reception staff who helped us get scheduled and a great team of doctors and techs who restored my dog to 100% healthy!
August 01 · Molly FrancisAfter going to five vets in the area in the past year (four of them for my 12 year old cat, one for my mother's dog), I have decided to retrospectively review the ones I visited to help other cat parents. If you want to spare yourself some reading, I highly recommend cat owners to check out Dr. Robson at Lake Lansing Road Animal Clinic.Waverly Animal Hospital was the third vet in the area I visited when I moved to Lansing. It isn't a bad facility, but there are some things it leaves to be desired. I appreciate that there's a cat side and a dog side though that isn't strictly enforced. It always smells unfortunately. The staff are very friendly, though. I especially appreciate that you can go in for meds and they'll set you up with them right on the spot. One gripe that may not matter to other pet parents is that they cannot email you invoices. I am terrible at keeping track of paper and we have to submit them to his insurance, so this was one of the reasons we eventually chose to try another vet.At this point in my cat's medical journey, the previous vet had discovered a linear foreign body in his stomach as well as given the initial diagnosis of Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). They were going to wait three weeks for surgery, and then address the CKD afterward, while my cat continued to show more symptoms. I was uncomfortable with waiting, so I called around. Waverly was able to get my guy in the next day for an exam, and then the next day after that got him in for surgery.Dr. Burk was such a breath of fresh air after the past two vets we had seen. He actually examined my boy, looked at his medical history and recent testing, and showed a well executed balance of actually talking to me while fully looking over my cat. In addition to having a really receptive and calming demeanor, he is clearly knowledgeable and gave really helpful guidance on how he thought it would be best to proceed with Merlin. He took his recent likely CKD diagnosis seriously; when discussing having him go in for surgery the next day, he shared that he thought that Merlin should stay overnight to get IV fluids to ensure he was properly hydrated to give him the best chance of recovering well after surgery. I expressed hesitation because I'm a nervous cat parent who doesn't want to traumatize my cat by "abandoning" him in some strange, scary place. He was very kind in response to my anxiety, but when I asked him what he would do if he was in my shoes, he reiterated that he thought having him stay for fluids was the best choice. Feeling actually heard by him made me feel like I could trust his word, so I agreed and my boy stayed the night.Surgery went super well - he said it was an easy procedure and was great about giving me updates on his recovery. Merlin was definitely loopy afterwards thanks to the drugs, but seemed in good spirits overall. After a day or two passed and Merlin was struggling to eat and seeming super wobbly, I called Dr. Burk to ask if I should maybe give him less gabapentin. He got back to me within an hour and chatted with me about the symptoms my boy was experiencing, and agreed that reducing the dose would probably alleviate his symptoms. Once we did that, Merlin was basically back to his old self!We got him back in the next week to do a post-op and retest his renal values and urine to officially confirm the CKD diagnosis. Once the results came back as, yes, he definitely has CKD, they prescribed him CKD food. I saw a different vet for our last appointment here and she kind of was like "yep he has CKD" without explaining much, and sent us home with a CKD sample food kit. One thing that shocked me was that the kibble in it was about 200 kcal per quarter cup! My cat is a chonky boy with a healthy appetite. This was one of the only negative interactions I had, but the nail in the coffin was that Merlin was so visibly distressed every time we came here, probably because his first experience was staying overnight and then going in for surgery. I decided to continue my search for our furever vet.
June 20 · Carly KalkauskiHailey was amazing. From making my appointment to taking the extra minutes to allow my scared pup to warm up to her … Hailey is a great asset. Great team at Waverly. Love Dr. S.
May 09 · Jordana SagerSadly the quality of staff here has gone down over the years. And I unfortunately cannot get past the repulsive smell in the breezeway that continues into the animal hospital, of stale pee. I discovered they sold to hartland veterinary corporation in 2024 and this was the cherry on top for me unfortunately deciding to take my dogs and business elsewhere. My animals are my family not a number for a corporation to make money off of.
