Whiteman Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic Introduce
The **Whiteman Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic** is a unique and dedicated resource serving the Missouri military community. Located on the installation, this facility operates as a core **Veterinarian** practice, with a specialized mission focused on both military working dogs and the companion animals of active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. This distinction means the clinic provides a reliable and familiar source of care for those serving our nation, offering essential **Routine Care**, **Preventive Medicine**, and other **Veterinary Services** right on base.
Notably, the clinic is identified as being both **veteran-owned** and **women-owned**, highlighting a strong connection to the military community and a commitment to service that extends beyond medical care. The clinic’s primary focus is on preventative health measures, such as comprehensive vaccination schedules and parasite control, ensuring the pet population on the base remains healthy and deployment-ready. While the scope of services is intentionally limited due to military protocols—they generally do not perform surgery, extensive dental work, or handle major emergency cases—the care provided for routine and minor issues is highly valued by its clientele.
Reviews from the Missouri military community reflect the appreciation for the high level of care, with one customer stating their dog was "always happy to see everyone" and that they would "gladly use them again." However, given the nature of a military-run, limited-scope clinic, clients are advised that **Appointments are recommended** and hours can sometimes be inconvenient, necessitating proactive scheduling, especially for important items like travel medication or health certificates required for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves.
The Whiteman Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic is situated within the installation perimeter, making it an extremely convenient location for those who live and work on or near the base in the Knob Noster/Sedalia area of Missouri. As a facility operating under the 509th Medical Group, its location and mission are integrated with the broader support services of Whiteman AFB (WAFB).
Address: 900 Perimeter Rd bldg 1732, Whiteman AFB, MO 65305, USA
Due to its status as a government-affiliated facility, access is generally restricted to individuals with valid military identification, including active duty, reserve, retirees, and their dependents. The clinic maintains high standards of physical access to serve all eligible patrons:
- **Wheelchair accessible entrance:** Ensures all clients, including those with disabilities or those transporting larger pets, can easily enter the facility.
- **Wheelchair accessible parking lot:** Provides designated parking spots located close to the entrance for maximum convenience.
- **Wheelchair accessible restroom:** Guarantees comfortable and accessible facilities for all visitors.
The location is purposefully central to the military community, eliminating the need to seek basic veterinary care off-base for eligible Missouri residents.
The clinic’s primary mission is to support the health of Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and to offer essential preventative care to the privately owned animals of military beneficiaries. The services are deliberately focused and include:
- **Preventive Medicine and Wellness:** This includes a strong focus on core vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, etc.), routine deworming, and counseling on preventative health strategies.
- **Routine Care and Minor Sick Calls:** Handling non-emergency issues such as basic skin conditions, ear infections, gastrointestinal issues, and other minor ailments.
- **Parasite Control:** Providing heartworm testing, and dispensing and advising on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention products.
- **Permanent Identification:** Offering microchipping services to ensure pets are easily identified and returned to their military families, especially crucial during frequent military moves.
- **Health Certificates and Travel Preparation:** Assisting military families with the extensive and time-sensitive requirements, including necessary vaccinations and documentation, for pets moving due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), including international travel.
- **Over-the-Counter Products:** Offering medications, prescription refills (upon approval), and other products for customer purchase, generally during specific hours.
The clinic explicitly states that, due to military protocols, it does not typically offer complex services like surgical procedures (including spay/neuter), extensive dental work on private pets, or emergency care.
For the military community in Missouri, the Whiteman AFB Veterinary Clinic offers several key advantages and distinguishing features:
- **Military Community Focus:** The clinic’s primary mission is the health and readiness of Military Working Dogs (MWDs), and its secondary mission is to support the pets of military members and retirees. This focused, mission-driven approach provides a high level of trusted service to its specific clientele.
- **Veteran and Women-Owned Status:** Identifying as both **veteran-owned** and **women-owned** speaks to the personal commitment and specialized understanding of the military lifestyle by the individuals leading the facility.
- **Critical PCS/Travel Support:** A standout service is the assistance with the often-complex, time-sensitive process of preparing pets for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves, including providing necessary international health certificates and briefings.
- **Convenience and Accessibility:** Located directly on **Whiteman AFB**, the clinic provides the convenience of on-base care, saving military families the time and stress of navigating off-base appointments for routine services. Furthermore, the provision of a **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, parking, and restroom ensures inclusivity.
- **Focus on Prevention:** By specializing in **Preventive Medicine** and routine care, the clinic helps military families manage the day-to-day health of their pets proactively, which is essential for busy service members.

Whiteman Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic Reviews
- This facility has been wonderfully helpful and treated our dog very well. He was always happy to see everyone. The hours were sometimes inconvenient, but if you plan accordingly it isn't too bad. I'd gladly use them again. December 01 · Kathryn Waag
- My dog has been seen at this veterinary office for about 2 years now. She needed meds for travel and I made contact with the vet the first week in April, I was notified on April 8 the medication was ready. I go to pick it up today and the wrong medication was put in. The doctor that put the medication in just days ago now doesn't work at the vet clinic on Whiteman AFB any longer. Per the vet tech, my dog now needs to be seen in order to put the correct medication in (this is beyond funny seeing they didn’t need to see her for the first medication to be submitted) and they do not have any openings for appointments until after our dates of travel. They gave me the number toFort Leavenworth and told me to reach out to them to see if their vet can help- mind you my dogs have never seen these doctors, and Fort Leavenworth is 2 hours away. I asked the vet tech if she can call and help get this figured out seeing their office made the mistake and all I got was a bunch of nonsense why she didn’t want to actually do her job!Awful customer service. - Very nice and patient. It was a group effort to wrangle and microchip my spicy cat.The only problem here is they can't do sedative shots or put your pet under. If you need anything done with that, then ya would have to go to Lifetime or somewhere else. May 27 · Desiree Cornejo
- Snarky reception. If I’ve given my cats information over the phone twice and the clinic can’t bother to do their jobs and input that information, it should not be made my problem and I shouldn’t be made to feel stupid by the front desk and whoever was unfortunately hired for the back office. Get a grip. November 25 · Samantha Detweiler
- Whiteman Veterinary Clinic is prompt and professional. They take great care of my dogs, including my reactive dog. They support my choice to muzzle for safety during appointments and are always swift and as gentle as possible. Our vaccination and checkup appointments are always in and out, which is minimum stress for the boys. June 16 · Peculiarity
