Wickham Veterinary Services Introduce
For the dedicated farmers, livestock owners, and horse enthusiasts in Mt Pleasant and the greater Henry County area of Iowa, finding a veterinarian with specialized expertise in large animal medicine is essential. Wickham Veterinary Services has established itself as a focused and professional practice committed to the health, well-being, and productivity of farm and equine animals throughout the region. While some veterinary clinics in Iowa operate as "mixed animal" practices, Wickham Veterinary Services concentrates its efforts on the unique and demanding needs of large animal patients, which is a crucial distinction for the local agricultural community.
This dedicated focus is a significant advantage for those who rely on the health of their herds and horses, as it ensures the veterinary team's experience and resources are concentrated on large animal diseases, preventative care, and reproductive services. For Iowans in the farming industry, having a specialist nearby who understands the economic and personal value of their livestock is invaluable.
It is important for prospective clients to note the specialized focus of this clinic. Public information, including past customer feedback, suggests that the practice primarily, if not exclusively, caters to large animals. Therefore, pet owners with dogs, cats, or other small companion animals should be prepared to seek care at a different local facility that is equipped for small animal medicine. This clarity in focus allows Wickham Veterinary Services to excel in their chosen field of large animal practice.
The commitment of the practice is evident in its deep ties to the community, including participation in local agricultural events. For over 30 years, Dr. Steve Wickham has served as the Henry County Fair Veterinarian, a testament to the clinic’s long-standing dedication to the county's agricultural success and animal health standards.

- Called about a piglet I saved from the side of a busy highway, my vets office doesn’t handle livestock so they recommended Wickham. Gave them a call just wanted to have the animal looked over to make sure it was alright and he acted as if I was inconveniencing him and didn’t want my business. Not a good way to conduct business, I was disappointed to say the least. It would not allow me to give ZERO stars but that’s what I feel is deserved. August 16 · Angela Williamson
