Arcadia Pets of Staten Island Reviews
I don't live in Staten Island but my dentist is close by. I always drive past this shopping center. I stop in for aquarium fish and supplies. Very clean and neat store. A large variety of fish, food, and tank decos. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Jan 28, 2025 · Joseph DePaulisTheir dogs aren’t healthy. While I was browsing the store I heard someone asking why the dog they bought was incredibly sick and had to be taken to the vet and medicated and one of the workers said. “It’s nothing to worry about. It will go away.” Their dogs are very non responsive even when petting through the cages. U thought a few of them were dead. They used to have a blue and green macaw for years that they kept in a small cage. Their axolotls gills are very small and they aren’t even in any light! Their “tanks” are filthy! They have no air stone, no light, nothing! Not even a hide. While viewing the fish I noticed a dead one floating. It’s a cool store but they really need to change up their ways. Also it’s illegal to sell dogs in New York but apparently they are doing it?December 2nd visit: animal quality is poor. I noticed two dead telescope goldfish. When staff were told they left them in there. Fish were cannibalizing each other. One fish had dropsy. The tank above the baby ranchus had about 5 dead fish and one was fully rotted. Their eyes had been eaten out. Axolotl’s gills grew even smaller since the last few days I had visited. The axolotls are probably going to die eventually. Lack of care will shorten their gills more. Snakes don’t have enough light. One of their leopard geckos was shaking and trembling due to not having the right heat lamp. One dog I constantly see is a shiba inu and I swear it’s been there forever. There’s a poor French bulldog that looks exhausted and isolated. Their dogs don’t have the best life.
Dec 05, 2024 · Julia MurrayTook my dog Akira today to get groomed by the amazing dog groomer Sabrina! Her and Akira instantly bonded in the front of the store as her energy matched his perfectly. He is part collie and not easy to trick when he knows what’s to come but he had no problem stepping away from dad and into the tub. Sabrina offers attentive one on one service with each dog she grooms allowing nervous dogs like Akira comfort. Sabrina’s work is of the highest standard, Akira has never looked so handsome. Akira will be back again!
Mar 18, 2025 · Trevor CookMy go to local aquarium store. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Every time I buy a fish they last and easily adjust to my aquarium. My first fish were a pair of Bolivian rams, they were very dull at first but after a month there color became eye popping.
Nov 04, 2022 · Abdul OdehIf I could give this place zero stars I could. Fish tanks riddled with fungal infections, open sharpies in the tanks, Betta fish that are all dead. The staff very clearly doesn't care about the animals they put up for sale. The only reason I go to this place anymore is to see whether or not the place has MAYBE gotten better, but over the past 4 years it has been a downward spiral into further and further disarray. Please never come here to buy aquarium fish, but if you do buy an animal, you're essentially saving it from further mistreatment.ALSO: Animal control should most certainly look into this shop's mistreatment of animals and especially the sale/treatment of axolotls. They are categorized as "CRITICALLY ENDANGERED" by the ICUN Red List of Threatened Species. Every worker in that store should be ashamed of themselves for how they treat these creatures.
