Eden Pets Supplies & Aquarium positions itself as a destination for various pet needs, with a distinct emphasis on aquatic and reptilian inhabitants. While general pet supplies are typically available, the "Aquarium" in their name and customer feedback suggest a particular focus. Based on public information and typical offerings of pet stores with similar focuses, you can generally expect to find:
- Aquarium Supplies: This would include a selection of fish tanks, stands, filters, pumps, heating elements, lighting, gravel, and various decorations to create healthy aquatic environments.
- Aquatic Life: A variety of tropical fish, potentially including both freshwater and saltwater species (though a direct inquiry is recommended for saltwater availability), as well as corals and marine invertebrates for those interested in more complex setups.
- Reptile Supplies: Terrariums, heat lamps, UVB lighting, substrates (like aspen, coconut fiber, or specialized reptile terrain), hides, water dishes, and climbing decor essential for reptile habitats.
- Live Reptiles: As noted by a customer, they do have live reptiles available, specifically mentioned are "cute geckos."
- Pet Food: A range of specialized foods for various pets, including fish flakes, pellets, frozen foods for aquatic life, live or frozen feeder insects for reptiles, and potentially standard dry and wet food for dogs and cats, along with treats.
- General Pet Accessories: Depending on their inventory, this may include items such as bowls, basic grooming tools, and a limited selection of toys for common household pets.
- Knowledgeable Staff (Customer-Reported): One reviewer noted the staff "seemed friendly," implying a willingness to assist customers with their selections and questions.
It is important to note the varying customer experiences regarding animal care standards within the store's aquatic and reptile sections. While the intent to provide a wide array of products is clear, prospective customers are encouraged to observe the conditions of live animals and ask questions to ensure their personal standards for animal welfare are met.
Eden Pets Supplies & Aquarium presents several notable features for Maryland pet owners, alongside some areas where customer feedback indicates opportunities for improvement. Based on the provided reviews, here are some highlights:
- Focus on Reptile & Aquarium Needs: For those in Maryland specifically looking for reptile or aquarium supplies and inhabitants, this store offers a dedicated selection that might not be as extensive in general pet stores. The mention of "solid variety of reptile supplies" and "very cute geckos" is a positive for reptile enthusiasts.
- Cleanliness (Customer-Reported): One reviewer was "really impressed by how clean the space was," which contributes to a more pleasant shopping experience and can indicate a commitment to maintaining a healthy environment.
- Friendly Staff (Customer-Reported): The staff "seemed friendly," suggesting a willingness to engage with customers and offer assistance, which is valuable for pet parents seeking advice or recommendations.
- Local Business: As an independent local pet store, it offers an alternative to large chain stores, potentially providing a more personalized experience and unique product selections. Supporting local businesses helps strengthen the community economy in Maryland.
It is also crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised in the reviews. One customer noted "overcrowding" of leopard geckos, raising questions about housing practices for solitary reptiles. Another review expressed significant dissatisfaction with the conditions of the fish tanks, citing "crazy currents," "stressed fish," and "dead fish floating," leading to strong criticism of the store's animal care standards. These points suggest that while the store aims to provide supplies, potential customers interested in purchasing live animals, particularly fish or reptiles, should visit with an observant eye and inquire about specific animal care protocols to ensure they align with their expectations for ethical pet keeping.

Eden Pets Supplies & Aquarium Reviews
I recently visited this pet store while pricing out supplies for my future leopard gecko and was really impressed by how clean the space was and how friendly the staff seemed. They had a solid variety of reptile supplies and some very cute geckos available, which definitely caught my eye.said, I couldn’t help but notice that there were four leopard geckos housed together in what looked like a 20-gallon tank, which raised some concerns for me. I know overcrowding can lead to stress, food competition, and even injury in solitary reptiles like geckos, so it made me second-guess the overall care standards behind the scenes.Overall, the vibe of the store is great, and it’s clear they care — but I hope they’ll consider adjusting housing practices for their reptiles. I would’ve given 3 stars, but the overcrowding was hard to overlook.— A hopeful first-time gecko parent 🦎💛
Jun 11, 2025 · Lifeas CheyenneI haven't been there for a while, needed something, this store was on my way back from DC, and I can say with confidence that this is still the absolute worst pet shop I have ever been in. All the fish tanks have crazy currents, generated by massive bubblers, which will stress the fish.. You can see how stressed the fish are in these strong currents, working so hard to barely hang on. I saw a bunch of dead fish floating in the tanks, and I bet the owners scoop tons of dead fish from the tanks last thing at night and first thing in the morning. These ppl seem to dislike animals and don't know anything about caring for them. I am definitely not a fan of chain pet stores, but those are better at providing minimal standards of care to the fish and other animals they sell than this place.
Apr 02, 2025 · C. F.Just left this store (with my veterinary technician wife) to see currently labored breathing in their poor lizard who couldn’t even open its eyes and the 5+ foot snake kept in a 24 inch tank intended for a tiny lizard. This is like having to live your entire life in something the size of an airplane bathroom 24/7 forever. That’s cruel and unnecessary, if you’re running a business and making money from these animals it’s ethical to invest I back in them. The fish tanks had inches of algae growing on the dog bowls in the bottom of them? Just sad.
May 27, 2024 · Samantha WallWent in for supplies for my Betta fish and the owner was very helpful and patient.
Jul 04, 2025 · Naja CherryI had originally written a great review of this store, but my experience today completely changed my opinion and I will no longer shop here. I have frequented this establishment for over a decade and watched it go up and down it terms of quality. I accepted that they were totally overpriced since they are independently owned so there were many occasions when I chose to just look and then buy the fish elsewhere. While on furlough from Covid, which was from March till September for me, I shopped here at least 3 or 4 times a week. I purchased plants, my freshwater angelfish, two of my discus fish, two cockatiels and far too many community fish to count for my four tanks. In that time, I spent at least a few thousand dollars because I wanted to support local businesses. By this time, the owners were more than familiar with me and my foster son. I am a retail manager so I believe that loyal customers should always be given red carpet treatment. That's how I conduct business at my store, and what I expect as a consumer. This past Thursday, I purchased 5 fish and two bettas. As the guy was bringing the bags to the register, he remarked that he thought one of the fish had died. He poked the bag and the fish quickly swam to the other side. I assumed it had just lodged itself in the bottom crease, as anyone who has bought fish is familiar with. By the time I got home (less than 7 minutes away), two of the fish, including the one the employee pointed out, were already dead. Next day, one of the bettas and another fish were dead. I had to work so I was unable to return until today. I explained the situation to the woman at the register, who remembered when I was there, as did the employee, and told her I wanted just to replace the fish that died. She nodded, indicated that she was fine with that, from my perspective. All that changed when we bought the bagged replacements to the counter. Suddenly she wanted a sample of my water. I reminded her that the fish died in THEIR water, not my own, and she flat out refused to offer a replacement. Mind you, these were inexpensive fish, unlike my prior purchases, but she flat out refused. I even said "after all the money I've spent here over the past months and your own employee admitting that he thought the fish could possibly be dying, you're not willing to replace it?" She adamantly said no.I told her that I would never shop in her store again, as there are far better tropical fish stores like House of Tropicals and Today's Pets which are also independent and she told me she didn't care. I told her I didn't want the new fish, tossed the bag containing the dead fish on the counter and told her I would be changing my review, to which she also indicated she did not care and to "have a nice day".Many of the customers are new to the hobby and I have watched them rip off countless people who seem unaware that they can get the same fish for far less money elsewhere. Their tanks are overpriced, their bird cages are twice what the cost is at Petco or Amazon, and the service has gone back to being garbage now that stores are open again. All the bird cages are empty, the tanks with fish for sale are dirty and many had dead fish, and the reptiles are poorly cared for. People who actually like this place have probably not been to a proper pet store like the two I mentioned. Once you've been to those, Eden will seem like some bad joke. I will NEVER shop her again and can now concur with the many bad reviews about this place and the rude owners. Do yourself a favor and spend your money someplace that appreciates your business.
