The Bird Ranch is located at 3529 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins, CO 80524, USA. This accessible location in Fort Collins makes it a central hub for bird lovers throughout Northern Colorado and beyond. Its proximity within the Fort Collins area ensures that residents of nearby cities like Loveland, Greeley, Windsor, and even further away in the state, can readily access their specialized services and adoptable birds. While specific public hours are not always widely advertised as a traditional retail store, given its nature as a rescue and specialized facility, it is essential to contact them directly to arrange visits, adoptions, or service appointments. Their focus on the welfare of individual birds means that visits are likely structured to ensure minimal stress for the animals and maximum attention for potential adopters or service clients. This direct contact approach ensures that every interaction is purposeful and tailored to the unique needs of both the birds and the people they serve.
The Bird Ranch, due to its specialized nature as a rescue and rehabilitation center, offers a unique set of services tailored specifically for exotic birds, particularly parrots. Their offerings go beyond a typical pet store, reflecting their commitment to avian welfare.
- Exotic Bird Rescue and Rehabilitation: As a 501(C)(3) non-profit, their primary mission is to provide sanctuary, complete physical, psychological, and environmental well-being for exotic birds in need. This includes rehabilitation for surrendered or rescued birds.

They also offer specialized diets and a variety of bird cages, toys, and accessories like harnesses and flight training leashes.
- Public Education and Awareness: A key part of their mission is to inform and educate the public about the demands of owning an exotic bird, the kind of lifestyle a bird deserves, and how to provide them with essential care for happiness and health.
- Consultation for Bird Selection: Knowledgeable staff are available to help individuals choose the right bird that suits their lifestyle and living situation, considering factors such as noise level, size, and temperament.

- Expertise in Exotic Parrots: Owned by Carmen Cote (who has over 15 years of experience in exotic parrot breeding and bird education) and Dakota Angthius (passionate about bird well-being, rehabilitation, and fostering), the facility offers deep, specialized knowledge in exotic avian species.
- Hand-Fed Exotic Birds: As a "premier destination for hand-fed exotic birds," they emphasize early socialization and proper development, which can lead to more well-adjusted and friendly avian companions.
- Commitment to Education: A core pillar of their mission is educating the public about responsible exotic bird ownership. This proactive approach helps potential owners understand the significant commitment involved, leading to better long-term outcomes for the birds.
- Personalized Experience: Described as a "small family pet store dedicated to providing a unique and personalized experience," they aim to ensure the right bird finds the right home, reflecting a caring and deliberate matching process.
- Comprehensive Care Beyond Sales: Offering services like boarding, grooming (including specialized beak adjustments), and carrying their own crafted bird food demonstrate a holistic approach to avian health and convenience for bird owners.
- Focus on Welfare Over Profit: While reviews show mixed experiences, the stated mission and the 501(c)(3) status suggest that the welfare of the birds is a primary concern, which can be reassuring for those seeking ethical sources for exotic birds.

Exotic Bird Ranch Reviews
Bill is not who you want to care for your birds or buy birds from. He jerked me around for 3 months with a bird i was trying to purchase. Still have screen shots of his messages. Also, found out yesterday he trimmed a friend of mines bird beak too short including his nails. Making him bleed. His shop is disgusting and I find the birds are in an unhealthy environment. It's dark, crowded, dirty and bird cages stacked on top of eachother. I've waited 8 months to post this review thinking it was just my own experience. However, after talking to several people on his ways, I've decided nows the time. He claims to be a professional. Fine, but you treat people horribly. If he responds to this I will share my experience via receipts.
May 08, 2025 · AshleyLovesLeaves S.My wife and I have been working with Bill for a year now and we have become very educated and adopted a wonderful healthy bird. Thank you to the Bird Ranch. Bill really helped us to know the choices we had and wanted to know our situation to make sure our bird was the right choice for our home. His concern and care for the birds really made us comfortable going to him with any questions.
Dec 05, 2023 · Randy TroupI’m fostering two parrots after a family member passed away. I agreed to this reluctantly but my concern for the welfare of birds & their living situation needed immediate intervention.I spoke to 3 rescues. After several conversations, Bill came to my home to evaluate the birds. He spent more than an hour with the birds. I was told that one of the parrots was very aggressive & to watch out. Bill opened the cage door, put his hand in & asked the bird to step up. It did! He held it for 1/2 hour. The education about food, housing & baths, I received from Bill, was life changing for these birds. Bill came back later that day. He brought me the correct food & was able to take one of the birds for training & rehoming. Bill is coming back next week with a larger cage for the older bird. I’ll foster it until Bill can find her a forever home. I couldn’t have sound a better rescue. Bill is wonderful! Thank you Bill for your kind heart!
Dec 13, 2024 · Karen YovanoffWhen I inherited a McCaw from an elderly relative, I called Bill and asked if he could make a house call to trim the birds beak and nails since I knew I would never get him in a carrier. Bill came to my house and trimmed the bird then spent some time assessing the equipment and food I had. Also, gave me some great tips on handling.Side note: The bird is doing well. We have become great friends. He is allowing me to pick him up and talks to me constantly.Thank you, Bill!!!
Oct 27, 2024 · Julie MishlerVery knowledgeable, personable, and helpful! Bill really goes the extra mile to make sure the birds and the prospective new owners are a good fit. I would highly recommend anyone looking to add a feathered friend to their family that this is the first stop.
