For many families in Miami, Florida, the idea of adding a new canine member to the household is a dream filled with excitement and anticipation. Finding the right place to welcome a puppy into your life is a significant decision, and local options like Puppy City aim to be a part of that journey. Located conveniently on Bird Road, this establishment has gained attention for its approach to connecting people with puppies, offering a space where prospective owners can interact with dogs before making a lifelong commitment. This article provides a comprehensive overview of Puppy City, offering insights for Floridians interested in learning more about this local pet store.
Puppy City presents itself as more than just a typical pet store; it positions itself as an "indoor playground/pet shop" where the public can engage with puppies, offering what they term "puppy therapy." This unique concept suggests a focus on the emotional connection between humans and dogs, allowing for interaction without immediate adoption pressure. For Miami residents seeking a new furry friend, understanding the specific services and ethos of Puppy City is crucial for a well-informed decision. We will delve into its location, services, unique features, and what local users should consider before visiting.
Puppy City is situated at 6344 Bird Rd, Miami, FL 33155, USA. This location on Bird Road is a prominent and well-known thoroughfare in Miami, making it quite accessible for residents throughout the city and surrounding areas. Bird Road is a busy commercial corridor, implying that the store is likely easy to reach via personal vehicle, with potential for public transportation access depending on specific routes. Its presence in a lively part of Miami means it's often part of a larger area with other retail establishments and amenities, adding to its convenience for local shoppers. Easy accessibility is a highly valued aspect for Floridians, who appreciate straightforward travel when it comes to visiting local businesses, especially when those visits involve their beloved pets or potential new family members.
Puppy City offers a specific set of services centered around the sale and interaction with puppies. Their business model appears to combine elements of a retail pet shop with a unique experiential component. Based on available public information, here are the primary services offered:
- Puppy Sales: The core business involves the sale of puppies. They aim to help puppy lovers find their "dream pup" within a designated budget, offering a variety of breeds. Popular breeds like Golden Doodles and Poodles, and hypoallergenic options, are typically available, though they claim to be able to source "every single breed you can think of."
- "Puppy Therapy" / Play Sessions: Puppy City is known for allowing the public to come and play with puppies. This unique service, often referred to as "puppy therapy," allows individuals to interact with the puppies without an immediate commitment to purchase. This can be beneficial for those seeking a mood boost or simply enjoying canine companionship.
- Pet Nanny Transportation: For customers who might not be local or prefer not to fly their puppy as cargo, Puppy City offers a "Pet Nanny Transportation" service. A pet nanny flies with the puppy and hand-delivers it to the customer at the airport, ensuring the puppy has a pleasant flight experience.
- Microchipping (Optional): They offer lifetime microchipping services for a fee, which can be done quickly without a prior appointment, providing an important layer of safety for newly adopted pets.
- Stud Service (Optional): The business also advertises stud services, offering access to quality studs for breeding purposes with guaranteed "beautiful puppies" and competitive stud fees, including the option for first pick of the litter.
While the business presents these services, it is crucial for potential customers to be aware of the varying experiences reported by previous visitors, which will be elaborated upon in the "Features / Highlights" section.
The features and highlights of Puppy City, as gleaned from customer reviews, present a mixed picture. It's important for local Floridians to consider both the positive and negative feedback to form a comprehensive understanding:
- Opportunity to Play with Puppies: A significant highlight for many visitors is the ability to interact directly with the puppies. This "puppy therapy" concept allows for hands-on experience, which can be a joyous and comforting activity for many, especially for children or those simply looking to de-stress. Some reviews suggest this play is free, allowing for interaction and reducing stress.
- Diverse Breed Selection: Puppy City prides itself on offering a wide variety of breeds, aiming to cater to different preferences and needs for future pet owners.
- Dedicated Staff Member (Samantha): One highly positive review specifically commends a staff member named Samantha for her kindness, dedication, wealth of information, and helpfulness in the adoption process, emphasizing her continued support after a puppy was taken home. This highlights the potential for excellent customer service from individual staff members.
- Post-Adoption Support: At least one positive review indicates a commitment to staying in touch with customers after adoption, offering ongoing support and checking on the well-being of the puppies, which is a valuable feature for new pet parents.
However, it is equally important to acknowledge significant concerns raised by other customers:
- Puppy Conditions: A very concerning review describes puppies appearing "malnourished," with bones visible, and being "covered in urine and feces." The reviewer also mentioned a puppy drinking urine, raising serious health hazard concerns and indicating potentially unsananiary living conditions. This starkly contrasts the ideal environment one would expect for young animals.
- "Treats" Policy: The policy requiring a $2 payment to "feed them treats" which were, in fact, "kibbles" that puppies "fought over," was viewed negatively. The expectation that customers should pay to provide basic sustenance for growing puppies, rather than seeing it as part of their care, was a point of contention.
- Staff Responsiveness: One negative review cited an instance where a staff member allegedly ignored a soiled enclosure while on a cell phone, leading to unhygienic conditions and a puppy consuming urine. This points to a potential lack of immediate attention to the animals' welfare.
These contrasting accounts highlight the variability of customer experiences and the importance of personal observation when visiting Puppy City.

In conclusion, for locals in the Miami, Florida, area, Puppy City offers a unique opportunity to interact with and potentially adopt a new puppy. Its accessible location on Bird Road and the "puppy therapy" concept are appealing features for many seeking canine companionship. The positive testimonials highlight the potential for a supportive adoption experience, particularly through interactions with dedicated staff members like Samantha, who are committed to helping families find the right fit and providing ongoing support. This level of personalized care, when present, makes the adoption process feel more reassuring and tailored.
However, it is imperative for prospective customers to be aware of and consider the significant concerns raised in other reviews regarding the welfare and living conditions of some puppies. Reports of malnourishment, unsanitary enclosures, and insufficient basic care are serious issues that potential adopters should investigate firsthand. Responsible pet ownership begins with ensuring the well-being of the animals even before they come home. Therefore, while Puppy City may offer a convenient location and the allure of direct puppy interaction, it is highly recommended that Floridians visit with a critical eye, observe the conditions of the puppies and the facility carefully, and ask pertinent questions to ensure they are making an ethical and informed decision for their family and for the welfare of the animals. Due diligence is key to ensuring that you are supporting a business that upholds the highest standards of animal care.

Puppy City Reviews
Earlier today I visited Puppy City on Bird road and was shocked to see the condition of the puppies. Two of the puppies specifically were very apparently malnourished and you could see every bone in their body( see photos below). The other fluffier puppies were in the same condition but it was not as obvious because their fur concealed it. Furthermore they have a policy that when you come to play with them you have to pay 2 dollars to feed them treats however, they were not at all treats. It was a cup of kibbles and the dogs all fought over a bite.Customers should not be paying to feed dogs the food that they require as growing dogs. There was also an instance where when of the dogs peed on the floor and when I told the lady working there she blatantly ignored me because she was on her cell phone. It got to the point where another one of the puppies started drinking the urine which is an extreme health hazard. The puppies are all also cover in urine and feces. It was outright disgusting and disturbing to see how these dogs were living. If I could give this 0 starts I would
Dec 09, 2024 · Giselle CortinasWe had the best experience at Puppy City of Miami. We adopted Buddy our little shitzu last summer and he has been a joy. Samantha has always been so kind and full of information concerning Buddy. My daughter sent me there because during Covid she would take my granddaughter there just to play with the dogs. She wanted a dog 🐶 so bad. Well with that said we went to Puppy city and met Samantha and we told her what we wanted. She was very helpful in our selection of addition to our family. Samantha said keep in touch and from that time when we picked up Buddy we have and she has respondedBack just to see how Buddy was doing . She is so dedicated to every animal in her business. I would recommend Puppy City to anyone looking for an addition to their family. She will help you sit with you and she has the kindest heart when it comes to placing the dogs and families for their best fit. Thank you again and again Samantha and Puppy city for adding the perfect puppy to our family. God bless you and continue to do what you do because you are the best . Keep the faith . Great job Samantha . I sent you some pictures of Buddy

Oct 24, 2024 · Maria Hernandez-CaminoThe owner/team of Puppy City are the absolute best people ever. So kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. We came from Jersey on vacation and fell in love with Romeo (a doxie & poodle mix) who was only 4 lbs & 2 months old. If you’re ever looking to get a puppy, please go to Puppy City!!!!
Oct 24, 2024 · Marina ZelayaHello we usually love going to puppy city because the people working there are so nice and the dogs are so cute. But today I came in with my grandma and the older lady at the desk who was Venezuelan was very rude. Barely saying high and just telling us we had to read the instructions in a very brute way that we almost didn’t want to go in. She proceeded to say we had to give the puppies two tiny food cups and that each cost 2 dollars so we had to give her 4 dollars. It all felt very rude and my grandma felt the lady was not all all sweet, inviting or welcoming. She also told us the puppies could only receive food if they sat so the puppies who didn’t sit couldn’t receive food. All in all the puppies were cute but the service was terrible. Oh and on top of that she kept reminding us we only had 15 minutes and then 5 repeatedly 😤
