Introduction / Overview
For enthusiasts of scales, slithers, and unique creatures, the San Jose Reptile Show (June 21 & 22) is a highly anticipated event that transforms the Fairgrounds Expo Hall into a vibrant marketplace and educational hub for all things reptilian. This show, organized by Reptile Realms, has quickly grown to become the Bay Area's largest and busiest reptile expo since its launch in 2014, attracting thousands of attendees across 45,000 square feet of fascinating displays. It's more than just a "pet store" in the traditional sense; it's a dynamic, immersive experience where attendees can explore an extensive array of live reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and even unique plants and specialized supplies. Whether you're a seasoned herpetoculture expert, a curious newcomer, or a family looking for an engaging and educational outing, the San Jose Reptile Show offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with reputable breeders, observe a vast selection of animals up close, and find everything you need to care for these remarkable creatures. It’s a celebration of the unique beauty and diversity of the reptile world, fostering a love and understanding for these often-misunderstood animals among the California community.
Location and Accessibility
The San Jose Reptile Show is held at the Fairgrounds Expo Hall, specifically accessible via Park at Gate A (across the street, 344 Tully Rd, San Jose, CA 95111, USA). This central San Jose location makes it a convenient destination for residents across the Bay Area and beyond. The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds is a well-known venue, providing a large and accommodating space for such a significant event. While driving is a common method of transport, attendees should be aware that on-site parking is available, though it typically comes with a fee, which was noted to be $20 by a past attendee. For locals, especially those residing nearby, considering alternative transportation methods like public transit could be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option, as one reviewer suggested, "if you live locally just ride the bus there." The venue’s ample space ensures that even with large crowds, there is room for vendors and attendees to move around, and the Expo Hall itself is equipped with proper air conditioning, offering a comfortable environment even during heat advisories, which is a significant plus for attendees’ comfort during warm California days. However, visitors should prepare for potentially long lines, particularly for online ticket holders, and consider arriving early or planning their entry strategy to optimize their experience.

San Jose Reptile Show (June 21 & 22) Reviews
Unpleasant experience of getting into the show. Long lines of security checks followed by another insanely long lines of getting inside for online purchased tickets. Ridiculously the lines for onsite tickets purchases are 10 times shorter. Unfair experience. They could have generated QR code for each online purchased ticket to fasten the process
Jun 22, 2024 · Eva WuThis was my first Reptile Show. The parking is $20, if you live locally just ride the bus there. I was disappointed on how they handled the lines on Saturday (6/22/24). I wish they start using QR codes for their online purchased passes since everyone uses their cellphones anyway. There was also a heat advisory that day and it was really unpleasant.I loved how they checked each attendee for contrabands since there were a lot of children present. There is proper air conditioning once inside. The prices from the sellers were great, better than online stores minus the fees and shipping! You can also observe and choose the animals before purchasing. The only thing I can suggest is to bring cash with you, some of them don't take credit cards and are very limited to e-payment options. A lot of attendees have folding carts with them to carry their purchases back to their cars.
