This client stated their pet, Peaches, was "truly getting the best care from the best veterinary in New Jersey," indicating a high level of satisfaction with Dr. Unay's expertise and care. His long history, as the owner since 1982, suggests significant experience in companion animal medical and surgical care.
- Friendly and Caring Staff (Manager Noted): The positive review also commends the "excellent and friendly caring staff," with a special mention of Office Manager Mrs. Eydie, which points to a welcoming and supportive front office environment that is appreciated by some clients.
- Clean Facility: The hospital facility is noted as "very clean" in one positive review, which is an important aspect for pet owners seeking a hygienic environment for their pet's care.
- Concerns Regarding Emergency Care and Communication: A critical review describes a highly negative experience where staff allegedly refused to open the door to help a dog hit by a car, stating they were closed shortly after 5 PM on a Friday. This incident raises significant concerns about emergency response, compassion, and the interpretation of closing hours, which is a vital consideration for any pet owner in an urgent situation.
- Questions on Treatment Efficacy and Cost: The same negative review expresses dissatisfaction with the "quality and care," citing "series of BS test that gave us no answers, prescribed medications that had no effects as well as shots that didn't do much to help my dog." This indicates concerns about the effectiveness and necessity of some treatments and associated costs, suggesting a potential for "waste of your $ and time waiting for an answer."
- Handling Techniques and Pet Comfort: The critical review also mentions that "Their tech staff was also very aggressive when handling my dog. He is not one to put up a fight, growl and bark. They've squeezed him so hard sometimes he would leave with his eyes bloodshot from the force they used." This is a serious concern regarding animal welfare and comfort during handling.
- Record Keeping Issues: A "2025 Update" in a review alleges issues with lost pet files due to a "new system," and an inability to provide paper copies, which is a critical lapse in patient care and raises concerns about continuity of care.

Sep 30, 2024 · constantine quibanI used to have my dog here as a patient but since left after a couple of years. Recently he got hit by a car and due to how convenient this practice is from where he was hit, we immediately went there to get him immediate help before needing to take him to a more specialized place. The staff refused to open the door to help out my limp dog and stated that they were closed. It was about 5:10-5:15 on Friday when this happened, and yes they were closing I assumed they stay longer to clean and prep for the next day. I didn't expect them to do much, but at least adminster some type of care like pain killers and make sure there's no TBI symptoms before transferring him.I don't expect much from this practice, as I've said before. The quality and care this place had for my pup way before his accident was terrible. Series of BS test that gave us no answers, prescribed medications that had no effects as well as shots that didn't do much to help my dog when he was a sick patient with them for a few years. Their tech staff was also very aggressive when handling my dog. He is not one to put up a fight, growl and bark. They've squeezed him so hard sometimes he would leave with his eyes bloodshot from the force they used. If you want to waste your $ and time waiting for an answer, you can stay here. The only upside I've found with this place was getting my dog his yearly vaccines.2025 Update: disgusting how they hide honest reviews. This office isn't organized right. Say they lost all my pets files there due to a new system they're using. I asked for paper copies, they tell me they can't find his chart whatsoever!

Jun 25, 2025 · Pablo AcostaWonderful experience with Dr. Eduardo Unay and Dr. Ed Unay, and the entire staff. The care our dog received was kind, thorough, and deeply intentional. The Vet Tech, Vanessa's, ability to handle our pet goes beyond expectation and very much appreciated!
Nov 20, 2024 · Mia GonzalezMy dog had bad blood and diarrhea for 1 year treated by my last vet. Nothing worked. I decided to go to Dr. Unay him and his staff were so great and front desk. They really care. We did blood work and stool sample and waiting to hear plan B. I went home feeling so positive from all the info that was given to me. Waiting for results. I will let you know. I wish I can go here myself lol!!!
