Valley Animal Hospital Reviews
All 3 of the vets here have been taking care of my 2 dogs and 1 cat for years. The vet techs and front desk staff are also warm, dedicated and extremely competent. I highly recommend this practice.
Apr 18, 2025 · Twinmom 1231Took my dog here at the recommendation of a friend for a second opinion regarding a simple skin issue. Had a very poor experience. I have an anxious 70lb rescue dog (pitbull/Amstaff) that typically needs sedation (trazodone and gabapentin) to tolerate the vet. The wait to get into the room was long. Vet tech was rude and unfriendly. I saw Dr. Rebecca Mastroieni DVM. She was cold, dismissive, and insisted on muzzling my dog (which made him even more stressed) even though he has no history of aggression or nipping. She could not diagnose the skin issue or even give me an idea of what she thought it was. She did a woods lamp test and told me it’s most likely not fungal. She charged me $150 for a cone and prednisone. She told me to see a dog dermatologist and that he may need a biopsy. Perhaps, there are better vets here, but I would not recommend Dr. Mastroieni.Update: I went to All Creatures Great and Small Animal Hospital and Urgent Care in Denville, NJ for a third opinion and had the BEST experience. They took me right into an empty exam room so I could finish filling out the paperwork and keep my dog calm. Dr. Silas Ashmore was kind, friendly, and extremely intelligent. He did a skin scraping, tested it on site, and knew exactly what the issue was within 20 min. Turns out he needed an oral antibiotic, a topical antibiotic, and some CHG/ketoconazole wipes. So happy with the care here!!! They did not need to muzzle him (didn’t even suggest it!) or give him medication. He was so calm and peaceful. He did not even flinch or pull away during the skin scraping. Dogs truly read energy and the energy at this place was so overwhelmingly positive. Claudia, the vet tech, was lovely and she treated my dog with such kindness and gentleness. I give this place the highest possible recommendation. Wonderful office staff as well. Super compassionate.
Mar 10, 2025 · Jillian GrassanoLove this place and more importantly my little ones love it. Only place I trust with leaving my 2 little ones on vacation. When I come home, they are happy, healthy and smiling. This place loves our pets and I totally recommend them You can thank me later...
Mar 30, 2025 · DEEBOHighly recommend Valley Animal Hospital. Have been going there for about five years since I had my first puppy. Dr. Thompson is our main vet and she is always nothing short of phenomenal, always makes us feel welcome, and is receptive to our needs. Dr. Henderson is a fantastic vet and surgeon who supported us while my pup required surgery for a tumor. The staff is always efficient and friendly. The price is reasonable as they are comprehensive with everything they do. Overall, a great experience. I am happy to bring my new puppy there to receive care.
Oct 02, 2024 · Patrick McNamaraMy dog, Callie, has been going to Valley Hospital for rehab for several months now following surgery for a herniated disc. When she first started she had hindquarter weakness and was wobbly. Dr. Henderson was quickly able to size up Callie's deficits and put together a treatment plan so that the techs could work with her. The rehab technicians, Tim and Kelly, have an incredible rapport with her - they treat her like she is their dog. She looks forward to her biweekly visits, and works hard because she enjoys the rehab activities and the positive reinforcement (and kisses) she gets from Tim and Kelly. I have noticed a significant increase in her hind leg stability and strength. Kelly and Tim allowed me to video some of the sessions so I can share her progress with my vet. We plan to continue her PT until she is no longer making progress. I highly recommend this facility. The staff are knowledgeable and have a great human-animal bond with their clients.
