Situated in a convenient area of Dallas, this location provides relatively easy access for pet owners throughout the city and surrounding North Texas communities, including Richardson, Plano, Garland, and Irving. Morrison Lane offers straightforward navigation, making it a manageable drive for those traveling to seek their specialized care. As an "Advocate Veterinary Services By Referral and Appointment Only," this clinic likely focuses on providing thorough diagnostic and treatment services for cases that may require more in-depth investigation and personalized care, often referred by primary veterinarians. Based on customer testimonials and the nature of an "appointment only" specialized practice, their services likely include, but are not limited to:
- Comprehensive Diagnostic Investigations: A key strength, as evidenced by a client's experience with a complex diagnosis (cancer) and a puppy's persistent issues (parasite). This involves thorough examinations, and potentially advanced in-house lab work and imaging to "get to the root of an issue." They prioritize accurate diagnosis over quick, superficial assessments.
- Internal Medicine Consultations: For pets with intermittent or chronic conditions such as gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea, vomiting), complex systemic diseases, or unexplained symptoms, they provide detailed consultations aimed at reaching a definitive diagnosis and developing targeted treatment plans.
- Advanced Treatment Planning: Once a diagnosis is made, they excel at formulating tailored treatment strategies, managing symptoms effectively, and guiding pet owners through even challenging health journeys. This can involve medication management, dietary adjustments, and ongoing monitoring.
- Parasite Diagnosis and Treatment: As demonstrated by the successful treatment of a puppy with persistent stomach issues caused by a parasite, they are adept at identifying and treating various parasitic infections, often considering breed-specific sensitivities or needs.
- Proactive and Preventative Health Strategies: While specializing in complex cases, they also likely emphasize proactive health management, ensuring pets receive appropriate preventative care once underlying issues are addressed or ruled out. This can include guidance on vaccinations (like ProHeart 12 mentioned in general search for "Advocate Veterinary Services"), nutrition, and overall wellness.
- Detailed Client Education and Communication: A significant part of their service model involves clear, thorough explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses. They take the time to answer questions and ensure pet owners are fully informed and comfortable with the care plan.
- Long-Term Patient Management: For chronic or ongoing conditions, they provide continuous support and follow-up, ensuring the pet's sustained well-being. This ongoing relationship builds deep trust, as clients express their willingness to be "FOREVER patient."
Advocate Veterinary Services, operating "By Referral and Appointment Only," boasts several distinctive features and highlights that set it apart and contribute to its stellar reputation among Dallas pet owners:

They are described as "truly exceptional," "friendly, informed, and thorough," and genuinely caring about animals, not just the financial aspect. This personal connection fosters immense loyalty, with clients proclaiming they will be "FOREVER patient."
- Thorough and Diagnostic-Focused Approach: Unlike clinics that might rush or misdiagnose, Dr. Cox is specifically praised for being "extremely thorough" and "passionate about getting to the root of an issue." This dedication to accurate diagnosis, even for complex or elusive conditions (like cancer or persistent parasitic infections that other vets missed), is a primary highlight.
- No Upselling or Unnecessary Treatments: A significant relief for pet owners is their transparent and ethical approach. Clients appreciate that the clinic "never try to upsell / push unnecessary treatments," building trust and ensuring that recommended care is genuinely in the pet's best interest.
- Outstanding Responsiveness and Communication: The team is noted for being "incredibly responsive over email and phone," always "quick to answer questions and help however they can." This consistent and clear communication is vital for pet owners navigating health challenges, providing reassurance and clarity.
- Genuine Love and Pride in Their Work: Testimonials repeatedly emphasize that Dr. Cox and Talor "truly love what they do" and "take pride in their work." This passion translates into a positive experience for both pets and owners, with one dog reportedly "LOVES going to the vet because of them!!"
- Expertise in Complex Cases: The ability to diagnose and manage challenging conditions, such as cancer and difficult-to-identify parasites, demonstrates a high level of expertise and problem-solving skills that make them a go-to for situations where other veterinarians might be stumped.
- Referral-Based Model for Focused Care: The "by referral and appointment only" system allows them to dedicate ample time to each patient, ensuring a thorough examination and personalized discussion without the rush of a general walk-in clinic. You can tell they genuinely care about animals and aren’t just in it for the money. They never try to upsell / push unnecessary treatments. They’re also incredibly responsive over email and phone, always quick to answer questions and help however they can. It’s very clear they take pride in their work and truly love what they do! I trust them completely with my pup and will be a FOREVER patient. My dog LOVES going to the vet because of them!!
Jun 26, 2025 · Megan ScheulinI have been going to Dr. Cox for several years. I was referred to her by a friend. She is the best vet I have ever found and I move a lot (military). She is extremely thorough and passionate about getting to the root of an issue. When my lab rescue was experiencing intermittent diarrhea and vomiting, she got the symptoms under control and got to a diagnosis (cancer). Unfortunately, he succumbed to it last year. So, when I adopted my new pup (pictured) and she had stomach issues for several days, I knew just what to do…see Dr. Cox which by now meant a long trip. Other vets told me, she was just a puppy and likely had this from vaccines and just needed probiotics. Dr. Cox figured out that it was a parasite, treated her based on her breed, and got her well. I’m so extremely thankful for Dr. Cox and Talor and I know Darl’n is too. Thank you, Doc! You know we will be back. I trust no one with my babies like I trust Dr. Cox. THEY ARE SIMPLY AMAZING!
May 29, 2022 · Navy Guy34Thorough, organized and responsive vet practice with reasonable pricing. Huge exam room, like a big comfortable living room. Dr. Cox and office manager Tyler are knowledgeable and caring.
Mar 01, 2022 · Debby CodyDr Cox & Talor are absolutely the best. They are loving and caring to the babies (my pup) they treat. They are mindful and helpful in their treatment and services. I appreciate all they do!
Dec 13, 2019 · Lori BentonOn January 20th 2021 this organization found my dog and REFUSED to give her back because she looked abused, SHE WAS A SHELTER RESCUE, of course she looked a little rough. I am active duty military and I had to go away for a while so she was with my mom who couldn’t speak English so they threatened to call the cops on her if she attempted to pick up my dog, so my mother naturally was scared and didn’t do anything.
