★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Overdue review! Back in November 2021, my 11-year-old miniature poodle had a dental procedure done here. He had severe periodontal disease — his bad teeth and breath were affecting his kidneys, causing him pain, and lowering his quality of life.Because of his age, I was extremely worried about anesthesia and surgical complications. I did thorough research to find the best veterinary dental specialist in my area and came across Animal Dental Clinic. I called in April to schedule a consultation, and the earliest available date was in November with Dr. Riggs.Dr. Riggs was reassuring, knowledgeable, and compassionate. She made me feel confident that my dog would be in the best hands. One week later, Dr. Riggs performed the surgery and recommended a full-mouth extraction, which turned out to be the right choice. She also treated his oral-nasal fistula, ensuring it was properly closed and healed. The procedure was a success — my dog came home heavily sedated but recovered within a couple of days.Beyond the dental work, Dr. Riggs also cleaned out earwax, expressed his anal glands, and thoroughly examined his X-rays. She identified age-related issues my dog was developing (such as arthritis and possible IVDD), which helped me prepare and adjust his care. It’s now been nearly four years since his surgery — he’s 15 years old, happy, healthy, and always sticking his little tongue out!Yes, the cost and wait time at Animal Dental Clinic can be steep, but it is 100% worth it for the peace of mind and expert care. I'm incredibly grateful to Dr. Riggs and the entire team for giving my dog a pain-free, vibrant life in his senior years.
June 22 · Mabal PMy husband and I made a horrible mistake trusting Dr. Farcas with our sweet, young, 2 year old little poodle mix dog.Our regular veterinarian noticed mild tartar on our dogs teeth and recommended a cleaning before it progressed. Our veterinarian assured us that no teeth would need to be removed at this point. We opted to bring our beloved dog to Animal Dental Clinic for only a dental cleaning. Dr. Farcas was rude and condescending to us, but still, we decided to go ahead with the agreed upon dental cleaning. We believe that what Farcas proceeded to do to our dear dog was unnecessary, heedless, brutal, and cruel and left our very young dog permanently disfigured and handicapped. Farcas removed her 4 upper front (incisor) teeth. When he called us during surgery, I pleaded to spare her front teeth. He insisted they needed to go and he went ahead and pulled out all 4 upper front teeth along with 2 back molars. Her front teeth gum line did appear to bleed slightly when he poked with a sharp dental tool, but nothing else. After the fact, in reviewing the x-rays we requested from Farcas, and also recent photos we took of our dog that showed her front teeth, we believe that removing her front teeth was clearly unnecessary. We can only assume he pulled them out to increase the bill. Now our dog has difficulty playing with her toys, difficult eating, and her once happy and playful demeanor has changed. Her beautiful face is now disfigured. It has been 10 months and still, if I touch the area while brushing her teeth, she pulls away as if in pain.Farcas treated our dear, sweet, beloved little dog as if she was less than livestock.Again, we made a horrible mistake trusting Farcas. We are heartbroken. This review was terribly difficult for me to write as it is reliving this nightmare.
August 25 · Susan SmithIt's not exactly fun or cheap to need to see an animal dental specialist but if you decide to go for this course of care for your animal then the people at Animal Dental Clinic in San Carlos are excellent. After referral by my primary vet, and filing a request for consultation I was scheduled and seen by Dr. Ester Choi. The quotes I received were wide ranging but honest, comprehensive and competitive for the area. The scheduling of care was efficient and expertly done. It's a small but mighty clinic! The whole team did a wonderful job and didn't baulk at working in the mouth of large nervous dog. I was provided with clear instructions for before (be sure to read their website - it has all the info) during and after my dogs procedure. Dr. Choi communicated mid-procedure and provided clear updates and recommendations for some unexpected findings after x-ray. I am very happy with how it all went and anticipate a smooth recovery!
April 24 · Kristen ValentineThe team here and Dr. Farcas are absolutely phenomenal. Our beloved dog had some serious dental surgery done very successfully and we couldn't be happier with the results or his treatment while in clinic. Huge thanks for the competence and kindness to them.
May 22 · Amy ChangWe recently adopted a beautiful FiV cat who had spent several years on the streets. As happens with many FiV cats, she needed dental care. As a "parent," we want the very best for our little ones and I truly believe the Animal Dental Clinic meets that criteria perfectly. From the first communication thru the follow up post-surgery, this group of professionals is top notch. I wish I could give a higher recommendation, but since I can't, I will close by saying they have my strongest recommendation if your baby needs dental care or surgery. They treated her as she were their baby and she is recovering beautifully. This, I'm sure, is due to the expertise and care of everyone at the Animal Dental Clinic.
