Restful Paws - In Home Pet Hospice and Euthanasia, A SAGE Service Introduce
For pet owners throughout the Bay Area, making end-of-life decisions for a cherished animal companion is one of the most difficult and emotional challenges they will ever face. The final chapters of a pet's life are deeply personal, and the desire to provide a peaceful, dignified, and loving farewell is universal. In this delicate and sensitive field of veterinary care, Restful Paws - In Home Pet Hospice and Euthanasia, a SAGE Service, offers an invaluable and compassionate service to families in California. This specialized service focuses entirely on providing a comforting and serene transition for pets, allowing them to remain in the familiar and loving environment of their home, surrounded by the people who care for them most. This approach stands in stark contrast to the often-stressful experience of a final trip to a veterinary clinic, making a profoundly difficult moment just a little bit gentler for everyone involved. Restful Paws understands that this is a final act of love and offers a service that honors both the pet and the human-animal bond that has been built over a lifetime.
The philosophy behind Restful Paws is built on empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the grief and sadness that comes with saying goodbye. The service is not just about the medical procedure; it is about providing comprehensive support to the entire family. From the initial phone call to the final moments, the team is dedicated to guiding pet owners through a complex and emotional process with kindness and patience. They prioritize creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere, allowing families to take as much time as they need to say their final goodbyes. This is a specialized service that requires a unique kind of veterinarian—one who is not only medically skilled but also incredibly compassionate and intuitive to the needs of grieving families. The testimonials from clients speak volumes about the professionalism and heartfelt care provided by the veterinarians and staff, who are often described as becoming a temporary part of the family during this profoundly sad time. This unique, house-call model is a testament to their commitment to making a painful process as peaceful as it can possibly be.
While Restful Paws is a SAGE Service, meaning it operates in connection with the well-known SAGE Veterinary Centers, its specific service is a mobile one. The address provided, SAGE Veterinary Centers - Redwood City, 934 Charter St, Redwood City, CA 94063, USA, serves as a central point of contact and coordination, but the core of their service takes place in your home. This mobile nature is a defining feature, as it brings the care to the pet, eliminating the stress of car rides, cold examination rooms, and unfamiliar smells and sounds that can cause anxiety for a sick or elderly animal. The service area covers a significant portion of the Bay Area, specifically the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay communities, making this essential service accessible to a wide range of California residents. The service also features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot at its central office location, with a restroom also available. While these amenities may not be used during the in-home service, they are indicative of the overarching commitment to accessibility and client comfort, should a family need to visit for any reason. Appointments are recommended to ensure a veterinarian is available to come to your home, as the nature of their work requires careful scheduling and coordination to provide the necessary time and attention for each family.
Restful Paws specializes in a crucial and often overlooked area of veterinary medicine, offering a suite of services designed for end-of-life care. Their focus is singular and profound, providing essential support during a pet's final days. The services offered include:

The most significant highlight is the in-home service itself, which transforms a potentially traumatic event into a peaceful and loving one. The veterinarians, such as Dr. Patricia Lowe and Dr. Vine, are consistently praised for their calm, caring, and empathetic demeanor. They are skilled not only in the medical procedure but also in creating a supportive atmosphere, assuring families that they will not be rushed and that they can take all the time they need. The staff who handle the initial calls, like Kayla, are also noted for their kindness and empathy, which is crucial when a family is in distress. Another key feature is the comprehensive support provided, including grief counseling resources and handling aftercare arrangements like cremation. This holistic approach means that families can focus on their pet's final moments without worrying about logistics. Services like paw imprints and fur clippings are thoughtful additions that provide lasting comfort and a tangible memory. The mobile service model, as a SAGE Service, also assures clients of a high standard of professional veterinary care, backed by a respected network.

The central address is SAGE Veterinary Centers - Redwood City, 934 Charter St, Redwood City, CA 94063, USA, though the service is primarily mobile. The veterinarians are not just practitioners; they are compassionate partners who guide you through the process with unwavering kindness. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This review is well overdue- we had to say goodbye to our 17.5 year old pup Chloe back in June. She was my first dog and it was extremely difficult, therefore the delay in writing this. The entire process with Restful Paws was so kind, supportive, and understanding. From calling to ask questions, to making the appointment, communicating arrival time, and the actual goodbye. Dr Patricia Lowe was a part of our family that day and we will forever be grateful for the patience and kindness she showed us. We are so glad Restful Paws exists.
August 15 · Ginae WoodmanThe emotions are still raw and weighed with such sadness as we had to say good-bye this morning to our dear Chloe who was 17 years old. While we have been so grateful to our own vet clinic who has cared for for all these years, we knew we wanted to have her final good-bye here at home. We learned about Restful Paws through our vet (West Valley Pet Clinic). We reviewed the website and researched on Yelp. From the moment we spoke with Kayla who answered our call, we felt we found the right service. Kayla was so kind, caring and empathetic as we were facing this emotional step for Chloe. We were assigned to Dr. Vine and this morning she came promptly as scheduled.Like Kayla, Dr. Vine could not have been more kind, caring, and empathetic to Chloe and our needs. She assured us she did not want us to feel rushed in any way. She was so respectful of the time we wanted to be with Chloe during the whole process. We feel it was our last, most important act we could give Chloe... the peaceful transition knowing she was loved until her very last breath. We will always be so grateful.
February 06 · Carol SatterleeI'm still a mess after saying goodbye to our 19 year old Ragdoll named Dog. That said, our day would have been much worse had it not been for the guidance and tender care from Dr. Karen Vine. Dr. Vine not only cared for Dog, she cared for us . . . and I'm beyond grateful. She first listened to our story of Dog and how we came to the realization it was time. She walked us through the process and paused when she could see we needed a moment. Kind and calming for all involved, the transition was peaceful. She swaddled our treasured family member gently in a blanket then I carried him out to place him in a beautiful wicker basket in the back of Karen's car. I wasn't sure about having someone come to our home whom we didn't know as I had heard some professionals handling this sensitive time can lack bedside manner. Not so with Karen. Highly recommend eternal transition using Eternal Paws! The Weber Family
June 01 · Sondra WeberSaying goodbye to our beloved Labrador, Rudy, was one of the hardest decisions my husband and I have ever had to make. After 12.5 years of unconditional love, we knew that his final moments needed to be peaceful, comfortable, and filled with love. The last year of his life was still full of adventures -- boating, beach days, swimming, snow, and endless affection. We made the decision with heavy hearts after Rudy bravely battled congestive heart failure for a year, managed through medication three times a day. When we started noticing that his quality of life had declined -- he was no longer interested in his food and didn't have the same spark -- we knew it was time. We wanted to find a vet who could help make this difficult experience as gentle as possible, not only for us, but for my parents, who loved him dearly as their grand-dog.From the moment Dr. Ami Hensley arrived, her presence was calm, compassionate, and deeply respectful. She treated Rudy with such gentle care, as if he were her own. She walked us through everything in detail and reassured us that we were making the right decision. His breathing had become labored, and his abdomen was filled with fluid -- confirmation that it truly was time. She gave us all the time we needed and created such a warm, safe space that made this heartbreaking moment feel just a little less heavy.Being able to say goodbye to Rudy at home was absolutely the right decision. He spent his final hours outside by the water, sniffing the air, sunbathing, and lying with me for one last cuddle. He was surrounded by the people who loved him most -- my husband Scott, and my mom and dad -- and that meant the world to us.We will forever be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and dignity Dr. Hensley and Restful Paws brought to Rudy's final moments. Thank you for helping us give him the loving goodbye he deserved. We miss him terribly, and when the time comes to say goodbye to our next dog, there's no question we'll call on Restful Paws again
April 01 · Chana SchamesI requested an appointment on the website at 6 AM on Friday (I wasn’t ready to speak to anyone yet) and was called back immediately with several options for the vet to come within hours. They were patient with me from the moment i answered in tears. I only read only a few reviews about the vets being kind an empathetic, those words were an understatement. We received a text about 30 min before she arrived with an ETA. It was the time we needed to try to compose ourselves and assure our cat that he’d be pain free soon. When Dr Lowe arrived, she not only made my 17-year-old cat feel comfortable and safe, but she did so equally for myself, my husband and our older dog. She explained every step of the process and gave us the privacy we needed and the warmth in the difficult moment. When my little guy took his last breath, I was able to hold him in my arms. She then let me place him in a basket and walk him to her car when I was ready. We said goodbye in the most peaceful way our cat deserved.
