Animals First + Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care Reviews
I don’t know where to begin. I took my senior cat there for an emergency and they were so incredible I decided to switch all my fur babies there. I took him back for a yearly and they did senior bloodwork just as a baseline and came back diagnosed him with the beginning of pancreatitis and diabetes. Which was surprising because he showed zero signs of either. However, this began months of treatments thousands of dollars and multiple trips back and forth each week. Which, with a diagnosis of pancreatitis, is warranted. The staff was Very nice and they did most of the communications between the doctor and I - I rarely got to speak with him directly. At some point, he wanted my senior cat to take pain meds- he prescribed Tramadol 50mg 1/2 tablets 3 times a day. The first day he was given two doses, almost 3 - but I noticed he wasn’t right. He couldn’t walk, he didn’t respond to commands or noises, and his eyes were dilated. He was going to the bathroom right where he stood. It was late- so we decided to contact a tele-med Vet ,not affiliated with this vet, to see if this was due to this Tramadol. Sure enough it was. The vet we spoke to told us that he was grossly overdosed on the Tramadol. It’s supposed to be 2mg per pound, our baby only weighs 7 pounds therefore he should’ve only received 14mg per day at the most and he was prescribed 75mg per day. We had given him two doses (50mg) before contacting the online vet. The online vet assured us he’d be okay eventually, but it had to work itself out of his system- (which that took a WEEK for him to be back to his normal self.). Anyway, the online vet gave us things to look for in the event he made a turn for the worse to take him to emergency. The next day I called animals first to inform them of this mistake- the reception called back and stated that the doctor said “ he prescribes the same dose for all his patients, some can handle it better then others”. This was my sign to leave this practice immediately. My baby could’ve died and the fact that they see no issue with this overdosing is concerning. The cost of care exceeds the quality of care from the doctor. I now have a new vet that can’t even get the records from animals first despite countless efforts. Where we are now is way more affordable and the quality of care is exceptional by the staff and doctors.
Jun 11, 2025 · Taryn KerperIt was my first time going here. I brought my 9 year old cat tuxy. I was very nervous for her and the doctor there walked me through everything. Explained to me the causes of her symptoms, the tests that we could run, and overall care to help her get better. I do not have pet insurance but they offer two different forms of coverage that you get notice of approval on the spot. The staff is extremely helpful and well informed. As scary as this visit was, I felt as though my baby was in safe hands.
Jun 16, 2025 · jmick03I would give 0 stars or negative stars if could! took my cat there because she was not eating and drinking nor making bowl movement for at least a week. the doctor looked at her very quickly and saw nothing wrong with her mouth. she had bloodwork done and results of bloodwork was excellent. she had one full body xray done and given fluids and antibiotic due to them seeing bowls in her and saying it was just constipation (after me paying about $1,000 for all this). me & my sister noticed that she was bleeding from blood on my shirt from my cat tucking her head in my side while sitting on their table. The point is that my cat has a huge slice in her left lip that was NOT there nor bleeding when we got there, but did appear and started bleeding AFTER the Doctor looked at my cat. I wrote a msg on their web site and left them a tel msg about all this, YET NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL ME BACK ABOUT THIS NOR HAVE ANY CONCERN FOR MY CAT’S HEALTH!! I complained to the Mgr Amanda about this, yet she refused to take any responsibility for her staff INJURING MY CAT!! If the sliced lip was there before the doctor looked at her, he would have said something, but DIDN'T!!!Because he did it or one of the staff did while she was in the back with them!!!This place has quack doctors (at least on weekends) and a staff that lyes and doesn’t care about your pet. The doctor made it seem like they were giving me a deal for $90 for one full body scan, when he was just trying to cover up for his mistake in injuring my cat’s lip.The slice is so long, that the end of lip is not healing closed and needs stitches to heal properly. I will be contacting my lawyer and filing a lawsuit against them for harming my cat when they were supposed to help her. they just wanted to take my money though, lots of it too. i will never go back there again and I WARN ALL TO NEVER GO THERE EITHER!!

Dec 19, 2024 · Kacie MorgenfruhWonderful experience! New patient with my sick senior dog, Bella. They took great care of her, even had an interactive exam with me so I could see what they were talking about with her condition to better understand. Highly recommend for your loved fur family members!
