Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
Both of my dogs are a part of banfield's wellness plans. I usually hear people complain about the company but never had one bad experience. Especially at this Banfield! The techs are always professional and the doctors always take good care of my dogs and are very knowledgeable. Whenever I have expressed a concern, they are always willing to talk through solutions with me. 5/5 for me.
Apr 29, 2025 · Allison ParejaThey always wanted me to drop my pet off for every appointment, even well visits that should only take 20-30 mins. They could never tell me when he should be ready to be picked up ( would it be 2 hours, 7 hours, who knows!) so basically I have to clear my whole day to wait around for a phone call? The most recent time he ended up having to sit in a crate for 5 hours for a simple well visit. I’m assuming this is some sort of efficiency model in order to make Banfield corporate more money. If the people who worked here actually cared about animals, they would not make them sit in a kennel all day for no reason. How hard is it to schedule an appointment and provide care during that time? I guess it’s hard if all you care about is profits. They are also constantly trying to upsell you, even if you have their wellness plan. I’ll be canceling my wellness plan and taking my business elsewhere.
Jul 01, 2025 · Renee LiersI would like to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Dawson and the Banfield Annandale weekend warrior team for taking excellent care of my pup. The team (receptionist, vet techs, and vet) was professional, effective, and acknowledged my concerns. Costs were communicated up front and most importantly, they treated my pup with respect and care. My pup was experiencing stomach issues, which kept us up for days. The team was able to accommodate a prompt appointment to treat my dog. They also bathed my pup after an accident during the drop-off appointment. This assured me that the team prioritized the well-being of the animals and cleanliness of the facility. Thank you Team Annandale for your service!
Jun 16, 2025 · Deborah WangI am writing this review to document an extremely upsetting and discriminatory experience I had at a Banfield Pet Hospital location, involving a practice manager whose conduct was not only unprofessional but also shockingly racist.I originally scheduled an appointment for my pet through Banfield’s online booking system. However, the appointment was canceled without explanation, and I was contacted by the location and told I needed to reschedule. Although this was an inconvenience, I complied and rescheduled the appointment as requested. They also tried to reschedule the same appointment they HAD ME RESCHEDULE FOR! So quite naturally that was concerning so I attempted to talk the receptionist including the practice manager, in Spanish—my first language. To my disbelief, the manager explicitly told me that I could not speak Spanish to her, she was also Spanish speaking. I want to emphasize that I am a native Spanish speaker and have every right to communicate in my language, especially when I am the client seeking a paid service.Being told I could not speak Spanish is not just unprofessional—it is outright discriminatory and racist. No one should be denied service or treated differently because of the language they speak or their ethnic background. The manager's attitude was dismissive and degrading, and I was ultimately denied service due to this prejudice.I am deeply disturbed by this experience and will not let it go unchallenged. I am currently in the process of filing a civil complaint against this Banfield location with the Attorney General of Virginia for discriminatory business practices. I will also be submitting a formal complaint to Banfield’s corporate office and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).To be clear: refusing service based on language is discriminatory and violates both federal and state civil rights protections. It is illegal, unethical, and unacceptable. As a long-time pet owner and member of this community, I am shocked that a company like Banfield would allow such behavior from its management staff.I urge Banfield to investigate this incident immediately, take corrective action against the employee in question, and ensure that their policies and staff are trained in non-discriminatory, inclusive practices. No one should be made to feel unwelcome, unworthy, or voiceless because of their language. I will continue to pursue this issue through all appropriate legal and administrative channels until accountability is achieved.
Jun 27, 2025 · Marie WinfieldI have had repeated frustrating experiences at this Banfield location, but my most recent visit was the last straw.I initially brought my cat in on February 2nd because he wasn’t eating. I saw his lab work online and tried to discuss it with the veterinarian, but instead of providing clear answers, she asked me what I thought of the results as if I were a vet. A nurse even tried to help, but they also couldn’t explain things to me. This was the vet’s last week, and it really felt like she had checked out and wasn’t invested in my cat’s care.A week later, I came back for a follow-up appointment to recheck labs—an appointment I scheduled myself, as the previous vet didn’t even suggest it. The new veterinarian was great and worked out a plan with me, which I appreciated. When I needed a medication refill, the staff initially asked if someone else could bring my cat in, but as a parent managing two kids and work, that wasn’t an option. Medication pickups take 30+ minutes at this location, making it difficult to fit into my schedule. They begrudgingly refilled the prescription but refused to transfer it to a closer Banfield location for convenience. Then came the most frustrating part: I scheduled my cat’s follow-up appointment for Monday, but Banfield called to move it to today. When I arrived for the drop-off, they asked if my cat had taken his medication that morning. Since it was 8:30 a.m., he hadn’t. They then told me they couldn’t proceed with the lab work because he needed to have had the medication within 4–6 hours prior—something they never mentioned beforehand. If they had simply told me this requirement when rescheduling, it would have saved me a ton of time and effort.I reached out to the practice manager to express my concerns, but she continuously spoke over me and did not seem interested in actually hearing me out. Overall, this location has had repeated issues with poor communication and customer service, and after this experience, I will be taking my pets elsewhere.
