Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in North Carolina, especially those in Greensboro, choosing the right veterinary care for their beloved companions is a significant decision. While many options exist, Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 1566 Highwoods Blvd A, Greensboro, NC 27410, USA, offers a comprehensive range of services designed to address various aspects of pet health. As part of a national network of veterinary hospitals, Banfield aims to provide accessible and standardized care, often featuring their "Optimum Wellness Plans" to help manage routine veterinary costs.
Banfield Pet Hospital's approach focuses on preventive care, aiming to keep pets healthy and detect issues early. For local North Carolina residents, this can mean a convenient option for regular check-ups, vaccinations, and other routine health maintenance. However, like any large organization, experiences can vary from one location to another, and understanding the specific dynamics of the Greensboro clinic is key for local pet owners weighing their choices. Reviews from the community highlight both the strengths and potential challenges of their services, providing a fuller picture for those considering Banfield for their pets.
Banfield Pet Hospital in Greensboro is situated at 1566 Highwoods Blvd A, Greensboro, NC 27410, USA. This location makes it a highly accessible option for residents in Greensboro and surrounding areas within North Carolina. Highwoods Boulevard is a recognized commercial area, often home to other retail establishments, which can make the hospital convenient to visit during daily errands.
The hospital’s hours of operation are generally structured to accommodate a broad range of schedules for North Carolina pet owners:
- Monday - Thursday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
These hours, including early morning weekday openings and weekend availability, aim to provide flexibility for routine appointments. For urgent care, Banfield encourages pet owners to call ahead, as walk-in urgent care is triaged based on medical priority, and severe emergencies may be referred to local veterinary emergency hospitals. This policy ensures that pets needing critical attention are directed to the most appropriate facility, which is a vital consideration for pet parents in North Carolina facing unexpected health crises. The clinic's cleanliness is also a positive aspect frequently noted by clients, contributing to a comfortable environment for visits.
Banfield Pet Hospital offers a wide array of veterinary services, emphasizing preventive care and comprehensive treatment for dogs and cats.

- Surgical Services: Performing standard surgical procedures, including spaying and neutering. More complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries may be available depending on the specific location's capabilities.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Greensboro presents a mixed set of features, as reflected in local client experiences. While some aspects are highly valued, others present areas of concern.
- Compassionate End-of-Life Care: A significant highlight is the empathetic support provided during difficult times. Clients praised the staff for being "Kind, courteous, and understanding" when they brought their pets in for euthanasia and private cremation services, even noting how "such understanding and kind people" handled their loss. The cleanliness of the facility also adds to a more comforting experience during emotional visits.
- Accessibility and Cleanliness: The hospital is generally described as "always clean," providing a pleasant environment. Their ability to schedule urgent appointments, even on the same day for serious conditions, is a logistical highlight, though sometimes requiring persistence from the client.
- Dedicated Veterinarians: One reviewer specifically praised the "actual VET who works there" as "fantastic," indicating that the quality of individual veterinary care can be exceptional. This suggests that the medical expertise of the veterinarians themselves is a strong point.
- Structured Preventative Care Plans (Optimum Wellness Plans): Banfield's OWP system bundles routine services, potentially making budgeting for preventative care more predictable for some pet owners. These plans often include unlimited office visits and certain diagnostic tests and vaccinations.
However, it's also crucial for potential North Carolina clients to be aware of recurring concerns:
- Communication and Internal Coordination Issues: Some clients have reported significant frustrations with internal communication, where details of prior emergencies or planned follow-ups were not adequately documented or understood by different staff members. This can lead to clients feeling unheard or even "laughed at" as one review tragically described.
- Perceived Pressure to Enroll in Plans & Cost Concerns: While OWPs are promoted for budgeting, some clients feel pressured to enroll and later discover unexpected costs or perceived inflexibility in plan cancellations, especially after a pet's passing. One reviewer felt the plan was a "scam" due to continuous additional costs and difficulty canceling.
- Inconsistent Customer Service Empathy: Despite moments of compassion, some experiences describe a lack of empathy from non-veterinary staff during highly emotional situations, like the loss of a pet, or a dismissive attitude when pet owners raise concerns (e.g., allergies being dismissed as fleas).
- Emergency Referral Policies: While they facilitate emergency care, some clients have been redirected to external emergency hospitals even when they believe Banfield should have been able to handle the situation, which can add to stress and cost.
For pet owners in Greensboro and the surrounding North Carolina areas, contacting Banfield Pet Hospital is possible through the following details:
- Address: 1566 Highwoods Blvd A, Greensboro, NC 27410, USA
- Phone: (336) 323-7811
It is advisable to call ahead for appointments, especially for urgent care needs, to confirm availability and discuss your pet's specific situation. For concerns related to Optimum Wellness Plans or billing, be prepared that you may be redirected to a separate customer service line, as indicated by some client experiences.
For pet owners in Greensboro, North Carolina, Banfield Pet Hospital offers a distinct option for veterinary care, particularly appealing to those who value a structured approach to preventive health and appreciate the convenience of a nationally recognized chain. The hospital's clean environment and the compassionate support provided during sensitive moments, such as end-of-life services, are notable strengths that resonate with local families.
The presence of dedicated and "fantastic" veterinarians within the clinic is a significant draw, ensuring that the core medical care provided can be of high quality. For routine check-ups, vaccinations, and basic diagnostic needs, Banfield's comprehensive wellness plans can offer a predictable budgeting solution for preventative care for many North Carolina pet owners.
However, potential clients should approach with a clear understanding of the operational model. While capable of managing many aspects of pet health, being prepared for potential communication challenges regarding complex cases or the specifics of wellness plan cancellations is advisable. For pet owners who prioritize a highly personal, long-term relationship with a single vet and team for all situations, or who have pets with very complex, ongoing emergency-prone conditions, they might find a smaller, independent practice more aligned with their needs. Nevertheless, for those seeking accessible, broadly comprehensive veterinary services with an emphasis on preventative care within a well-structured system, Banfield Pet Hospital remains a suitable and widely available option for the diverse pet community across North Carolina.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
Last year in 2024 they took us in for emergency appointment to have our Braxton put to sleep. Kind, courteous, and understanding staff. Just today in 2025 we had woken up to our 18 year old Chloe haven passed away in her sleep. I called them and it was no problem to bring her in for the private cremation services to be set up. Again, such understanding and kind people. The place is always clean as well. I definitely recommend them.
May 31, 2025 · Roe WolfeI have brought both of my cats here and my dog for the last 3 years and even paid them $180 a month for their "preventative care plan" (which is a scam)I have had 2 emergency situations and both were handled in my opinion embarrassingly by the staff at banfieldFirst was my cat who was unable to move her neck one day when i got home from work, I called banfield who told me I would need to bring her to the emergency hospital in winston as this was something they couldn't handle, fine, i did that and my cat made a full recovery after a week in the hospital, but when I called to schedule a follow up appointment for bloodwork as recommended by the vet in winston they had absolutely no idea why I would need a follow up or that the cat had an emergency the week before regardless of the fact that I had called and informed them of the situation, so I then again explained everything that happened on the phone with the tech and scheduled the appointment. Then when i showed up for the appointment I heard the girl who checked me in go into the back and start laughing at me and say she had no idea why I brought my cat in for bloodwork??????? I pay you $180 a month and you can't write a note down on my account stating the reason for my appointment and then proceed to laugh at me while i'm sitting in the office????The second was most recent when my dog was extremely lethargic and would not eat, I knew he had a blockage, still not sure from what but I knew it was an emergency and he needed to be seen immediately- I called banfield who fit me in same day for x-rays (after pleading with the girl on the phone for an appointment) and when i came in they acted as if i was making it up and there had to be some other reason he was acting this way- well- he had a blockage, the vet recommended i go to Reidsville veterinary hospital because I guess the surgeon who works for banfield also works at that hospital, so that is what I did. I spent $5500 on surgery for him and he sadly passed on the table during surgery. I called Banfield to cancel my dogs plan since he had died and they redirected me to call a different number for cancellation. I called on 3 different occasions, each time asked the automated message thing to call me back because the wait time was up to an hour to actually talk to a representative and when they finally called me back they told me I owe $200 if I want to cancel because my dog had just been seen so I would need to pay back those savings. Not a single person in the office or anyone over the phone told me they were sorry for my loss or even batted an eye or showed any kind of empathy for a dog they had treated for 3 years since he was 8 weeks old.Aside from these situations, there was also a time where I brought up the fact that I was pretty sure my dog has bad allergies. The vet tech checking me in got a nasty judgmental attitude and tried to tell me it was because he had fleas- LOL if you haven't guessed, he did not have fleas, and after a referral to an allergy specialist we found out he was allergic to most foods, the environment and his flea and tick medication- and then to make it even more laughable they decided they would “inform me” of his possible allergies during his next wellness exam and prescribed him an anti itch spray as if I hadn’t already told them about his situation multiple times. All of this to say that I have looked into pet insurance which comes with coverage for the same things banfield offers but also includes emergency visits and any medication/ flea and tick for $83 a month opposed to the $180 I was paying for Banfields planthis company scams people out of their money, they do not care about your pets or you and there is no kind of personal customer service experience when dealing with them. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the actual VET who works there is fantastic and if she went to work somewhere else I would follow her. Otherwise I cancelled all 3 plans today and will find a local vet who gives a shit about me and my pets.
