This indicates a strong personal connection and empathetic approach from this particular veterinarian.
- Open and Realistic Communication: Dr. Samoska was noted for being "up front and realistic" about options and conditions, which was appreciated for its honesty and considerate delivery.
- Transparent Pricing: The clinic reportedly discusses "pricing very clearly before services began," which is a positive feature for clients managing budgets, as it helps avoid unexpected costs.

- Kind and Professional Front Desk Staff: The "front desk receptionists were both kind and professional," contributing to a positive initial impression and overall experience for some visitors.
- Controversial End-of-Life Procedures: A contrasting review details a highly negative and traumatizing experience during a pet's euthanasia. Concerns were raised about the process, specifically the dog being sedated out of sight due to perceived aggression (which the owner disputed as out of character for their pet) and the lack of communication before this step was taken.
- Lack of In-Room Euthanasia Option: Unlike previous experiences at other clinics, the option to initiate the process with the pet in the owner's arms was reportedly not offered or allowed in this specific, negative experience, which caused distress.
- Perceived Lack of Empathy During Difficult Moments: The description of the euthanasia process in one review ("Cold, systematic, and traumatizing") suggests a significant disconnect in perceived compassion during a highly sensitive time for the pet owners.

Guilford College Animal Hospital Reviews
I have to say this place was wonderful to me and my dogs! I took my aging rescues here for checkups/vaccines and also to consider euthanasia for my 18yo rat terrier mix. She had stopped eating and drinking several days prior and could barely walk (she has been going starkly downhill for a month). Dr. Samoska was so compassionate and caring with her and gave us a lot of time to consider as we talked through options. He was up front and realistic, which I appreciate, but in a very considerate and compassionate way.The pricing was very clearly discussed before services began. I did not have to put any sort of deposit down. The front desk receptionists were both kind and professional. All in all, a good experience even during a tough situation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr. Samoska to my friends with fur babies!
Feb 04, 2025 · Emily LeonardWe took our dog in to be put down. As hard as this was for us, the staff easily took us in to a private room. They took our dog to the back to put an IV in for the process. After a bit, the female staff person carried our sedated dog back in the room with two very large men at her side. No eye contact from the men. I asked why they sedated our dog before bringing him to us. I was told that he was growling and difficult. Our dog has always been kind and gentle with people - this behavior would be very out of character for him with people he knew or strangers. They never came to let us know they were having a problem. They also never offered to start the process in the room with us.I have had to have 2 other dogs put down in other vet offices and they allowed us to hold and stroke our beloved animals from the start of the process until they were gone. IVs were not needed in either case. The Guilford College Animal Hospital Staff staff did something in the back to make my dog's last minutes and our experience traumatic.Cold, systematic, and traumatizing.
Jul 02, 2025 · Sonja SteedDr Sven is the only vet I trust with my three fur babies. He has seen my precious cat through a terrible urinary experience, and my two pups through routine car with a kindness.
Apr 24, 2025 · Elizabeth DacksonWe took our dog in on a weekend on an emergency basis with no appointment for a bad ear infection. Dr. Samoska and the rest of the staff was very helpful and able to resolve the issue at a price that was not much more than our regular vet would charge.
Jun 29, 2025 · Nicholas BrownBeware !!!!!!!!! They are crooks. They will give you a price, then run up your bill without notice. Came in for surgery I was quoted 3 to 5k. The vet told me after surgery that it was no complications and that I was closer to the 3k. I pick my pup up and get hit with a $6700 bill. I was threatened to have my pup taken by them if I didn't pay the difference. I put a 3k deposit down and was aware of $1200 to 2k more because of the $300 to $500 per day stay after surgery. They knew 5k was my max. Brought my lil Egypt home and the next morning took her out to relieve herself and notice her squatting but nothing coming out. I look at her rectum and it was poop and hair matted together that stuck in her rectum and it was matted so bad I had to cut it of. it had to be for a few days. See photos below. I will never come here again. I called to tell them about the poop and hair the lady hung up on me.
