TLDR: Dr. Ben Grobshteyn is a great veterinarian that takes his time to discuss and explain all of my questions and concerns. He is objective and rational with his approach which have helped build my trust in his judgment and professional experience. The office team has always been very professional and nice over the phone and the vet Tech that helped in the intake and appointment was very thorough and patient in documenting my dog's history of care, symptoms, and concerns.Longer version:Today I went to the Banfield Hospital in Princeton with my elderly 12 year old Pug (turning 13 in August). I have used Banfield in the past and specifically for my Pug ever since moving to NJ for the past several years (going between this location and the location in PA/near-Trenton).To those that read these reviews I hope everyone understands that google reviews will always trend to be biased towards those that have negative experiences. It's just human nature. And when it comes to pets that we view as our family members you'll see even more of that type of bias. This fact coupled with the general area of the people living in and near this location will also play a big factor in the negative reviews you see.If you gotten this far in the review know this: I have an elderly Pug. The type of breed that if you get lucky to get this far in their life with, you're doing something right and the care you have received with your veterinarian has also done something right. The care for your dog is a reflection of: how much time and money you are able to spend + the veterinarian care that you receive. And out of those 2, it sways (in my personal opinion) 80% owner care / 20% veterinarian care.This location may have 3.8 stars (as of April 7, 2025) and based on my experience with my elderly pug, this rating is simply unjustified and not reflective of the type of care and attention the staff have for your pet. Period. You don't want to drop your pet off? Okay fine - do you have the time to take in your pet when they are available to have in-person visits? Then great. If you do not have that time and you get upset that you can't have a personal visit - this is a skill issue on your part and not this office. You need to make your pet the priority because otherwise it just isn't going to happen. Period.I am also not going to sit here and say that all the negative reviews are slander and lies. I don't know this and nor do you when you read them. However, you should be very well aware that ANY google reviews you see from ANY location will tend to be biased towards the negative and ESPECIALLY when it comes to any type of "health-related" care (eg: this trend doesn't normally apply to restaurants for example). Why? because in health-related care, we take negative experiences: PERSONAL. Like to the grave. You have disrespected me and my child and now we gonna fight - type of personal.It's rough out there. A lot of people use reviews as a way to just vent about the general state of the world we live in right now. But listen: this place is good. and my multiple experiences with Dr. Grobshteyn and honestly every Banfield location I have been with, have been great. Do your research, read the google reviews, but at the end of the day, TRUST YOUR GUT. Go to the appointment and treat the staff without a preconceived notion. Because if it's your first visit here, you do yourself a disservice coming in already blaming them for something you have cooked up in your head and influenced by the negative reviews.

My dog was returned to me following a drop-off dental procedure with bruises all over her torso (see photos) and smelling like other dog’s urine with no explanation or follow up from the staff as to what happened to her.On the day of her appointment, I did not hear from the staff or vet as to thecondition or pick-up status of my pet following her procedure. I called the front desk multiple times, and as other reviews have mentioned, it’s hard to get anybody at the front desk to pick up and when they do they immediately place you on a long hold.I found it bizarre that I did not hear from anybody on her condition, so I made my way over there since it was getting dark and I couldn’t get in touch with anybody at the front. While I was on my way there, I received a phone call asking me if I was picking up my pet because they were closing soon. Bewildered, l explained that I’ve been trying to reach out and haven’t heard from anybody on her or her condition. Shortly after I arrived was when it was hastily explained by the vet that they found concerns in my pet’s bloodwork. Instead of being able to have a conversation to process what the results of her bloodwork meant and come up with a long-term plan of action, I was being spoken to in between two other appointments, so the interaction , while polite, was brief and resulted in being quickly sold a medication that felt like a shot in the dark. I was then scheduled for a follow up (another drop off, no thanks!) for a month away.My family and I have been Banfield members for over 15 years. We brought my first dog here up until they helped her cross over the rainbow bridge at age 18.Unfortunately, as the service level at Banfield has declined significantly: constantly overbooked, you can barely get an in-room appointment (it almost feels discouraged) and there’s so much vet tech turnover that personalized service is no longer available. With the vet team so overbooked and clearly overwhelmed , it’s hard to imagine that I could leave my pet in their hands and trust in the care. I will no longer be renewing my membership contract and plan to go to a local vet for more personalized care.
Dec 17, 2023 · Christina FI have been a customer for over a decade but the phone wait times alone are what is prompting me to cancel my plan and switch to a local pet hospital. 28 minutes on hold today to reschedule an appt and I never even got to speak with anyone. This has happened at least 3 or 4 times this past year. I cancelled the appt on the app in 10 seconds and will be cancelling my plan as soon as we have another in place.
