Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across Wisconsin, ensuring a companion animal's long and healthy life starts with dependable, comprehensive, and consistent veterinary care. **Banfield Pet Hospital** in Madison, located on Plaza Drive, serves as a trusted local resource for this essential need. Operating as a full-service **Animal hospital** and **Veterinarian** practice, Banfield focuses heavily on **preventive health care** through routine check-ups, early diagnostics, and the management of common health concerns for dogs and cats.
The core philosophy of Banfield is to make high-quality, routine veterinary services more accessible and affordable, primarily through their **Optimum Wellness Plans®**. These plans are designed to help Wisconsin pet families stay proactive about their pet's health by covering unlimited office visits, necessary vaccinations, and key diagnostic screenings throughout the year. This approach shifts the focus from emergency treatment to long-term wellness, which is vital for catching potential issues early.
While the hospital is lauded for offering excellent routine care, as highlighted in a review mentioning a senior pup receiving "excellent care" and being "treated like family," it is important for local users to remain vigilant regarding specific administrative details, such as vaccination due dates. One client review noted a significant concern about a missed one-year rabies vaccine due date when records were transferred. This underscores the reality that while the clinic provides a wide array of excellent services, pet owners should always partner closely with their veterinary team, especially when managing vaccination schedules or transferring patient history. Overall, the Banfield model provides a robust foundation for general veterinary medicine, offering everything from routine **Spays and neuters** to advanced **Digital radiography** and specialized **Gastrointestinal illness diagnosis and treatment**.
The hospital is also committed to an inclusive environment, noting that they are **LGBTQ+ friendly**, ensuring that all members of the Wisconsin community feel welcome and respected when seeking care for their beloved animals.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I switched my dog here about a year ago because of the better prices and location. I have recently switched him again due to their lack of practice. My dog got his first rabies vaccine back in 2023, which was just a one-year dose. When I switched him over to Banfield, they read over his records and somehow missed the fact that he got a one-year rabies, not a 3-year. Me, not questioning the vet, went along with it since I did not know the specifics of the vaccine. Now we are 7 months past his due date of the rabies vaccine and I am pretty angry. These vets need to make sure they are seeing the correct due dates for vaccines, because my dog could have contracted an illness and died because of them. They are supposed to have this knowledge so we do not need to worry about it. Very disappointed.
March 12 · Sydney DenuEverything we bring our senior pup in, we are treated like family & she gets excellent care. WOOF!
May 18 · Francesca NowakowskiNina was excellent and gave terrific explanations for our dogs needs. Well done.We also purchased a wellness plan that saved us money on care. Quick and easy, courteous and had our dog’s best interests at heart.
May 10 · Mercedes FWhen I adopted Kassie, she had an ongoing respiratory issue that we could not get cleared up. She was miserable. After repeated trips and different medications, we finally got her healthy!!The staff is always loving on her when I go to pick her up. She gets all the snuggles and love while she's there. Love the staff!!
December 13 · A J (Monkey's Mama)I scheduled an appointment online. Got a text asking to confirm, which I did, and text said my appointment was confirmed. I made the appointment about a week in advance. Show up to appointment (a 60 mile one way drive) on time only to be told "we tried to call you, we don't take end of day appointments for new customers". And so they wouldn't see us even after I told them I drove 60 miles. They need to update their online scheduling system so mistakes like this don't happen. And they also need to make more of an effort to get a hold of customers to reschedule if they don't plan on honoring appointment times. Why would they keep my appointment time just to turn me away when I got there? And after finding out how far i drove why not do the exam anyway even if it means they stay 10 minutes past closing? They could have cancelled the appointment and I'm sure I'd be notified by text and would have known to reschedule. Needless to say I won't try going to any Banfield location ever again.
