Lancaster Veterinary Hospital is committed to providing a broad spectrum of veterinary services to support the health and quality of life for your pets. While it is always recommended to confirm the most current and detailed service offerings directly with the hospital, based on typical services provided by general veterinary practices, you can expect the following:
Preventative Care & Wellness Exams: These are fundamental for maintaining your pet's health and include routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite control (for fleas, ticks, and heartworm), and basic nutritional guidance to help keep your pet thriving.
Diagnostic Services: Utilizing various methods to accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries. This typically includes in-house laboratory testing (such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams) for quick results, and potentially imaging services like radiography (X-rays) for examining bones and internal organs.
Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings, examinations, and treatments are crucial for preventing painful dental diseases and maintaining overall health. Dental services often include scaling, polishing, and extractions as needed.
Surgical Procedures: A range of surgical interventions, from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more involved soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries, with an emphasis on patient safety, effective pain management, and thorough post-operative care.
Behavioral Counseling: Addressing pet behavioral issues can significantly improve a pet’s quality of life and the bond with their owner. This may involve diagnosing behavioral problems and developing treatment plans.
Laser Therapy: A non-invasive, drug-free treatment option used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing for various conditions, including arthritis, injuries, and post-surgical recovery.
Pharmacy & Pet Products: Convenient access to a variety of necessary medications, supplements, specialty foods, and preventative treatments (like flea and tick control) directly from the hospital.
Emergency Pet Care: Providing care for pet emergencies during office hours, with potential guidance for after-hours emergency services.
Based on customer feedback, Lancaster Veterinary Hospital appears to have certain features and highlights that shape its reputation within the Lancaster community. It is important to consider various perspectives when evaluating a service.
Experienced Veterinarians and Staff: While specific names aren't consistently highlighted in the provided reviews, the hospital aims to provide "the highest quality medical and surgical services," suggesting a professional team. One positive review notes, "Dr. Anderson did a wonderful job spaying my cats at reasonable price," indicating satisfaction with veterinary skill.
Reasonable Pricing: A customer review mentions, "Rate$$ very reasonable compared to other vets in the area," which suggests that the hospital strives to offer competitive pricing for its services, an important factor for many pet owners in New Hampshire.
Focus on Small Animals: The hospital emphasizes its services for "dogs and cats," aligning with the needs of common household pets in the region.
Broad Range of Services: As a general practice, it offers preventive care, diagnostics, dental care, and surgical procedures, aiming to be a comprehensive resource for common pet health needs.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge that some customer experiences have raised concerns, particularly regarding staff demeanor and approaches to pet handling. One review described a receptionist as "not friendly, compassionate, or empathic at all," and noted an interaction where the receptionist allegedly hung up the phone. Another review detailed an experience where a veterinarian's handling of a puppy was perceived as "harshly" correcting the animal for a non-aggressive behavior, leading to discomfort for the owner who follows positive training methods. These instances suggest that while the hospital provides a range of services, consistency in client communication and pet handling techniques may vary for individual experiences. Prospective clients are encouraged to consider these aspects and communicate their preferences directly with the hospital.

Lancaster Veterinary Hospital Reviews
The receptionist is not friendly, compassionate, or empathic at all. These are her responses when I spoke to her on the phone:"I can only do what the computer tells me to do." "No, I cannot be empathetic." "You are making my day miserable." She then hung up on me. I truly hope that she can find joy and compassion in her life.
May 14, 2025 · Joanna BoisseauI brought my puppy in for an exam. The Vet abruptly grabbed his muzzle to look in his eyes. When my puppy tried to get his head away and subtly opened his mouth and then closed it again the Vet corrected him harshly by squeezing his muzzle shut and then told me my dog was going to be agressive and that I needed to correct him everytime he did that.I understand that some people align with this belief system and I respect your right to choose.I am following a positive training method. My puppy was not being agressive and I was very uncomfortable with the way the Vet handled the situation.
Jan 27, 2025 · Kay GreenAvoid this place at all costs - Not only are they impossible to get records from, they blamed new symptoms for my cat on a pre-existing condition while ignoring significant changes in bloodwork results (Which another vet immediately called out and stated that from just the symptoms described and the bloodwork results that these guys took - They would’ve recommended additional exams that would have caught this sooner). They did not bother to mention or recommend checks that are common/standard at other vets, for cats over a certain age instead telling us our cat was “Perfectly healthy”, who then had to be put down just 3 weeks later. If you care about your pet at all take them anywhere else.
Feb 09, 2025 · BenDr. Anderson was awesome, along with his staff and very affordable cost!My Mini-Schnauzer, Jackson and I were having an issue! I briefly explained what was going on and Dr. Anderson understood my frustration! He addressed his thoughts to me quite quickly, in a very down to my level way and showed me how to resolve this unaccepted behavior!I now have this behavior understood, as to why Jackson was acting as he was and am working on Dr. Anderson's suggestions in correcting him!!Jackson's behavior was excellent with Dr. Anderson, along with staff, which told me Jackson was very comfortable at this place of business!Thank you all for your understanding, compassion, explaination as to why Jackson was not as he once was! You taught me how to correct the problem!!Thank you to all,Owner and Jackson. :)
Mar 17, 2020 · Elaine BorowskiCalled this vet's office to get my puppy in for second shot after they did the first one 5 days before. Bought the puppy from someone that goes there all the time. The receptionist told me I should of had a vet before buying the puppy. It was fine to take my money just a few days before but not now. She is the worst person for customer service. Well I got a vet after talking to her and the vet I have now is the best vet I took my other dogs to. So I would recommend the Colebrook veterinarian clinic. She has been the best with my other dogs for 13 years. Cares about animals like you care about your children.
