Beside Still Water Introduce
When a beloved pet reaches the end of their life, the decision-making process is one of the most difficult a pet owner can face. The primary goal is to ensure your cherished companion's final moments are peaceful, comfortable, and filled with love. Beside Still Water is a veterinary service in Colorado dedicated entirely to this deeply personal and sensitive time. They provide compassionate end-of-life care, focusing on in-home euthanasia services that allow pets to pass away with dignity in the familiar, loving environment of their own home.
The name itself, "Beside Still Water," evokes a sense of peace and calm, which is the core of their mission. This practice is not a traditional animal hospital; it is a specialized service designed to support families through the most challenging part of pet ownership. Dr. Bradenberg, the veterinarian mentioned in customer reviews, is consistently praised for her exceptional kindness, gentleness, and empathy. She takes the time to guide owners through the decision-making process, ensuring they feel supported and informed every step of the way. This unique focus makes Beside Still Water an invaluable resource for pet parents across the Denver and Wheat Ridge areas who are facing the heart-wrenching loss of their animal companion.
Beside Still Water is located at 3440 Youngfield St #101, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, USA. While the provided address is a physical location, it’s important to note that the nature of their service—in-home euthanasia—means their practice is not a typical clinic you visit for an appointment. Instead, they travel to you, bringing their compassionate care directly to your home.
The service's inherent mobility makes it highly accessible for pet owners who wish to avoid the stress and logistics of transporting a sick, elderly, or anxious pet to a traditional veterinary office. For those who may need to visit the office for other reasons, the facility itself is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a wheelchair accessible entrance, a wheelchair accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair accessible restroom. This commitment to inclusivity demonstrates their understanding of the various needs that may arise during a difficult time. While appointments are recommended, this structured planning ensures that the team can give each family the time and attention they need without feeling rushed.
Beside Still Water specializes in a unique and vital area of veterinary medicine: end-of-life care. While they may not offer the full spectrum of services found at a general animal hospital, their expertise in this specific field is unparalleled.
- End-of-Life Consultation: Providing guidance and support to help pet owners navigate the complex emotions and practical decisions associated with their pet's final days. This includes a phone consultation to discuss the pet's condition, quality of life, and the best course of action.
- In-Home Euthanasia: The primary service, allowing pets to pass away in a serene and familiar environment. This is particularly beneficial for pets that are in pain, anxious, or have limited mobility.
- Grief Support: Offering resources and a compassionate presence to help families cope with the loss of their pet. The team understands that the bond with an animal is profound and that grief is a natural and necessary part of the process.
- Gentle and Respectful Process: The entire procedure is carried out with the utmost care, gentleness, and respect for both the pet and the family. Their goal is to make a difficult moment as peaceful as possible.
The compassionate nature of this service and the personal connection it provides are the key highlights that make Beside Still Water stand out.
- Exceptional Empathy and Kindness: The reviews provided are a powerful testament to the compassionate nature of the practice. One client's review, repeated in the provided information, praises Dr. Bradenberg for being "so kind and gentle" and for "spending a long time on the phone" to help with a difficult decision. This personal touch is what truly makes a difference during a time of grief.
- Focus on Pet Comfort: The in-home service model ensures that a pet's final moments are in their "happy place," surrounded by the people and things they love. This eliminates the stress of a clinical setting, which can be particularly distressing for animals.
- Unwavering Support for Owners: The practice's dedication to the emotional well-being of the pet owner is as important as their care for the animal. They provide not just a medical service, but a compassionate presence that helps to "make his passing better." The gratitude expressed by the reviewers speaks volumes about the lasting impact of this support.

Beside Still Water Reviews
It’s been several years, but Dr. Bradenberg really came through for us. Our 12 year old cat had lymphoma. Dr. B. spent a long time on the phone with me as I made my decision. She was so kind and gentle with me and my cat. It was hard to lose him, but she made his passing better. I always think of her with gratitude.

December 18 · Siobhan KeleherDr. Ann Brandenberg-Schroeder provided excellent advice and grief counseling around the euthanasia of our 12 year old cat. He had lung cancer and had just been diagnosed after spending the night in urgent care. His breathing was labored, but his appetite was OK."Dr. ABS" walked us through the process to make a decision as to whether or no- we should put him to sleep, what contingencies to make in case he went into respiratory distress, the euthanasia process. All in all she spent 45 minutes on the phone with us, walking us through ALL aspects of being a pet-owner faced with having to make the tough decision to put your best buddy down. She didn't do the actual euthanizing, only because she could only make an evening appointment the following evening. But I'm certain that had she performed the procedure, she would have been as caring and compassionate with a paying customer as she was with a total stranger facing this tough decision. We spoke to four or five prospective at-home euthanaisists, and while we loved her the most, we were concerned with having our little guy spending more than 24 hours in a state of labored breathing, so we had to cancel with her in favor of someone who could come the same day. I highly recommend having your pet euthanized at home by someone as compassionate as "Dr. ABS."

July 18 · Sue Capraro-BackI wouldn't even give these people a star. We called because our dog is dieing, left a message when the woman called us back she was rude and not a pleasant person to speak with. She told me that they were all booked up never offered another day or maybe we can fit you in just straight up no we are all booked. Their was no sympathy for me or my dieing pet! I would not recommend going here or even letting them touch my dog, you wanna be rude I'll take my business to someone else who does care and will show sympathy for me and my pet.

January 04 · Jennifer MontourI wish I could give Beside Still Water's zero stars but I can't. I called two and a half days ago, left a message and still have not heard back from this organization. I have decided to go with Caring Pathways who have been wonderful to work with. In a time of extreme grief, I think it is irresponsible to not get back with people when they are trying to decide the fate of their beloved pets.

May 10 · T. A.We used this service a year ago to assist my 17 year old shepherd to pass on. The doctor was exceptionally informative and professional, and described each step of the process. I see that for some folks reviewing she did not respond in a timely fashion, however we we were not pressured for a certain time, and our experience could not have been better for such a difficult time. Highly recommend.
