BluePearl Pet Hospital Reviews
We brought our pet, Windy to you with what was being diagnosed as a large soft tissueSarcoma by our local veterinarian. This was confirmed by your surgical team under the leadership of Dr. Frederick and required surgery to remove. Going into the surgery it was unknown if there would be enough tissue to close. The possibility of having to amputate the leg was.explained.After a worrisome night before, we received the call that it was done with good results. From the first contact with Blue Pearl and staff until the day we returned for the final bandage removal, the professionalism, kindness and cleanliness was there to help us through with our decisions. We thank you for your kindness, caring and patience with us and our furry family member.
Jun 05, 2025 · Sandy HallWhile attending my son’s college graduation our 10 pound 14 year old anxiety ridden havanese ate a few grapes and after a few hours started throwing up. At midnight on our first night in town we found Blue Pearl and took her in. After thorough assessment it was obvious we needed to leave our baby at Blue Pearl and try to find a way to enjoy our son’s graduation ceremonies. Each day, multiple times a day, we were contacted by Blue Pearl with updates. Thankfully, everything they were doing for our pup was leading her to recovery and after two days we were able to bring her home. I’m still emotional over all of it and feel incredibly grateful for the quality care our little girl received. Thank you, Blue Pearl!
May 26, 2025 · Chris RushDr. Bowersox and his technician are awesome! Friendly, always smiling, explains what is happening, why and the treatment to help our 12 year old dog, Betty, who woke up totally blind with a bacteria eating away at her cornea. From the moment you walk into Blue Pearl it doesn't smell like a vet's office, front desk staff are friendly, smiling, check in/out is quick. We highly recommend him and so does Betty.
Mar 26, 2025 · Pam HorackPLEASE READ BEFORE BRINGING YOUR COMPANIONS TO BLUE PEARL CHRISTIANA!!!! It took me a month to write this review because I didn't want to do so out of raw emotion and I wanted to ensure I was being objective. I took my cat here on Tuesday 4/8/25 just after she had a seizure that morning (first time she had one). She just turned 18 and was eating, drinking, using the litter regularly, and was still playful, and active. I took here here because it was the closest by 8 minutes, and I regret doing so. Myself, as many reviewers here was met with a cold unempathetic approach that seemed to be more of a money driven sales pitch for tests and for overnight stays as opposed to care for my friend or our concerns. Now I wasn't against spending money but the Doctor, who was Dr. Tiffany Vargas came in about forty-five minutes after admission to discuss the situation with seemingly no knowledge of why my cat was there to begin with. She explained that Cupcake was on oxygen because she was having difficulty breathing presently and that her lactic acid levels were high which was very concerning to her (duh she had a seizure), and that after a superficial ultrasound appeared to have nodes near her liver. I work in the medical field myself so I know that the lactic acid levels would be high bc of the seizure and said as much to the Dr, as well as that "shouldn't her levels come down and her breathing resume being regular over time?" She danced around that and immediately said maybe, but I wouldn't advise transporting her or taking her home. No one even mentioned that at that point, and I understood that the nodes could mean cancer and asked her directly what her impression was. She was unable to provide me any direct answers or direction and instead stated that she wanted to hold her until Thursday when they would have a deeper ultrasound and would do x-rays as well. I was fine with having to test more but why the two day wait for equipment if you are an emergency clinic? She didn't provide her rationale for the two day wait as opposed to going to a different vet clinic or what she was looking for or concerned about. She left to wait on x-rays that were taken when my cat had her teeth taken care of the prior year and did NOT return until about 2.5 hours later. There was more discussion about what approach to take which was mind numbing because she talked in circles without providing any answers or rationale while continuing to recommend a stay and tests. When I finally asked her what would you do if this was your pet... she chuckled and responded: I get asked this all the time." This angered me because it seemed so cavalier, dismissive, and an unempathetic response and was obviously an attempt to buy time to think. It really angered me, and what happened next I can never forgive myself for and have tremendous guilt over. Based off of the nodules and the Dr's lack of answers and her recommendation to do so, me and my girlfriend just assumed it was something serious and had her put down because we didn't want her to suffer. When we were in the room with Cupcake, it was about FOUR HOURS later, her breathing seemed normal and she seemed alert, but agitated which was not like her. I had the gut feeling to not go through with it when the nurse said her breathing could be normal because of the sedation and we were reminded she wouldn't advise to travel with her, and we went through with it. She released all her bladder which she obviously was holding that whole 4 HOURS and fought to the end seemingly with no peace in her death. I do not feel I had any real answers as to why I had to do that and no closure as to why she is gone now. I blame myself for not leaving there and taking her to Windcrest instead. I understand that she was older and it was inevitable, but it doesn't feel like she got the proper diagnosis, attention, care, and empathy she deserved from this place or that Doctor specifically. I have no closure of knowing I did the right thing for her and worst of all feel I may have prematurely ended her life because of this place.
May 13, 2025 · R SharkAmazing experience!! I would like to thank Dr. Bowersox & Amy for taking such good care of Trevor!! I was referred by my vet to bring my Shih-Tzu to BluePearl in Newark to have his eye checked by a specialist. Dr. Bowersox took his time & was very thorough when trying to diagnose the issue. He took his time explaining the issue & what he thought was the best plan of action. He answered all questions thoroughly. Amy was also very thorough & friendly during the intake and when reviewing the prescriptions & procedures. I would highly recommend this BluePearl location! 😊👍🏼
