The Columbus Humane Essential Care Center is strategically located at 3772 S High St, Columbus, OH 43207, USA. This South High Street address places it in a well-trafficked and easily accessible part of Columbus, making it convenient for residents across various neighborhoods and surrounding areas in Franklin County. While navigation can sometimes be tricky with ongoing roadwork (as one review humorously noted regarding the northbound ramp to 23 or S High near 270), the center's prominent position on a major thoroughfare generally ensures straightforward access. Its location is between the Dollar Tree and Skyline Chili, making it easy to spot. This careful placement ensures that even those facing transportation challenges can typically reach the facility, which is crucial for a center focused on accessibility. The dedication to providing services where they are most needed underscores their commitment to the entire Columbus community, breaking down barriers to veterinary care and pet food assistance for families in need.

They offer fixed prices for wellness and sick/injured care, providing transparent costs upfront, which is invaluable for budget-conscious pet owners. As one review noted, it's "much less expensive than a vet."
- Exceptional Dental Care: The glowing review about "dental extractions for my cat, Chili" highlights their proficiency in surgical and dental procedures, with the client emphasizing that the team "love what they do, do amazing work, and it shows!"
- Compassionate and Dedicated Team: Clients consistently praise the staff for being "amazing, just amazing," "so helpful and genuinely cares," and having a visible love for their work. This empathetic approach fosters trust and comfort for both pets and their owners.
- Community-Centric Approach: Beyond veterinary services, the center operates a pet food pantry with drive-thru service, demonstrating a holistic understanding of pet welfare that extends to supporting human families experiencing hardship. This integrated approach ensures pets remain with their loving families.
- Workforce Development Program: The Rachael Ray Foundation Pathways to Careers in Animal Health training program addresses the critical shortage of skilled veterinary workers in Columbus. This innovative program combines classroom learning with hands-on training in their state-of-the-art hospital, preparing a diverse workforce for veterinary assistant roles and potentially technician programs. This benefits the entire local veterinary community.
- High-Quality Care for Sick and Injured Animals: Contrary to a common misconception that low-cost means lower quality, the center explicitly states they provide "very low-cost, high quality services treat sick and injured animals as well as keep healthy pets well with preventative care." The positive outcomes mentioned in reviews support this claim.
- Supportive Environment: The facility is designed to knock down barriers to care, creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable accessing essential services.

Columbus Humane Essential Care Center Reviews
Beyond-amazing care. I feel so fortunate to have been able to work with this team to get some dental extractions for my cat, Chili. They all love what they do, do amazing work, and it shows! Thank you all.
Apr 29, 2025 · Ike WylieI love animals of all types. They will let you right to your face if they don't like you, unlike humans who will bite you in the back and run away. Anyway, they have many reasonably priced services for dogs and cats, and I have always had a pleasant experience with everyone there. My pets always have a great outcome. Much less expensive than a vet, but probably better because this is all they do every day check them out at S High and 270 but the northbound ramp to 23 or S High is STILL closed just do your best.
May 12, 2025 · tina statonWe just adopted a puppy for the first time and brought her in for her vaccinations. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful and the place was very clean with ample parking. We have a very shy puppy and they did a wonderful job with her and making her feel comfortable. They answered all questions that we had and even gave me extra info to take home. Wait times vary due to it being first come, first serve but we only spent about an hour on our visit which was nice. We already have her next vaccinations scheduled and I've even recommended the place to my Mom for her dog.
Mar 17, 2025 · Kris KingGot my 2 year old baby girl spayed. Process was very easy. Dropped her off in the morning, picked her up in the afternoon. The ladies were so sweet. Felt very confident and comfortable leaving my baby there. You have to have proof of a rabies vaccination, if not they will provide the vaccine with only a $10 up charge. Amazing service! Definitely recommend to anybody on a budget in desperate need of essential care for their fur baby.
Apr 02, 2025 · Rihana DoyleMy sweet angel has extreme social anxiety and the staff was more then helpful. They got us into a room immediately and even let me go with him into the back to sit with him for a little bit before surgery. The staff also helped me carry my baby to my car when I picked him up. I also had a cat spayed here and the process and recovery all went great! The only thing I can tell that needs work is the process of scheduling, it is pretty confusing and appointments seen hard to come by but when you see how many wonderful pets they help everyday I would rather go here then anywhere else ❤️
