Cross Keys Animal Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in the greater St. Louis County and Florissant, Missouri, area, **Cross Keys Animal Clinic** stands as a long-standing fixture providing comprehensive veterinary care. Operating as a full-service animal clinic and hospital, the establishment is committed to fostering a welcoming, almost "homey" atmosphere, where personalized care and client education are paramount. This approach is highly valued by local users, many of whom are first-time or long-term pet owners who rely on the clinic's staff for detailed, helpful advice on everything from puppy and kitten care to the needs of a senior pet.
The clinic’s mission is clearly focused on preventative services and promoting a long, healthy life for pets. They offer an extensive range of general practice services for dogs and cats, covering everything from routine annual exams and vaccinations to complex surgical treatments. A notable aspect of their care is the proactive attention given to pet dental health, recognizing its critical role in overall well-being.
Client testimonials frequently highlight the dedicated, gentle nature of the veterinary team. Users appreciate that the staff, from the front desk personnel to the doctors, often recognize their pets by name, reinforcing the clinic's small, personal feel. The commitment to transparent and **manageable pricing** is another significant draw, particularly in the Missouri pet care landscape, where costs can sometimes be a major barrier to necessary treatment. The clinic strives to be upfront with pricing before appointments, helping owners budget for their pet's health.
However, as with all medical providers, pet owners must maintain an active role in their animal's health. While the clinic is highly regarded for routine care, preventative services, and its compassionate demeanor, one must always feel empowered to advocate for advanced diagnostics if a pet's symptoms persist, especially in acute illness situations. The clinic’s role as an urgent care provider during hospital hours is balanced by the necessity of seeking 24-hour emergency specialists outside of operating times for critical, immediate life-threatening events.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I’ve been taking my cat to this clinic since I got her when she was a kitten. I found this place, decided to give them a try due to their good reviews, and have never once regretted it! She is my first cat as well as the first pet that I’ve owned solo. They gave me very helpful advice for a first time pet owner and have always treated her as if she was their own! I can’t imagine taking my girl anywhere else! They recognize and remember her by name whenever I come in and the vet is always extremely gentle with her. I also like this establishment because it is much smaller than your average vet which helps to give it a much more homey feel! Their prices are extremely manageable (and this is coming from a broke college student so you know it’s true) and they’ve always been upfront with me about pricing before appointments so I know exactly what to expect! When I was getting my ESA paperwork filled out and needed a letter confirming my animal is docile, they had it written up for me by the next day and spoke very highly of my girl which I extremely appreciated! It’s not just the vet that’s great either, but the entire staff! I see the same lady at the front desk every-time (I think her name is Sarah) and I would also like to give her a huge shoutout! She always answers my questions in detail (even the stupid questions) and is always happy to see Talia (my cat) when we come in!When I first got my cat everything seemed so daunting and the list of things that I didn’t know felt never ending. Thankfully Cross Keys Animal Clinic has been extremely helpful throughout this entire process and has educated me so much that I can’t imagine what I would’ve don’t without them! - I took my Yorkie to Crosskeys on Monday because he was breathing weird. The doctor said he looked fine and diagnosed him as being stressed. He never took any test, drew any blood etc…just took his temperature. The next day we had to return because he seemed to be having more difficulty breathing and was not sleeping well. He would not eat or drink and was not his playful self..same as Monday. Again the doctor felt he was fine..I knew he was not. He then said he would do bloodwork finally! Which showed his white blood count was up..he gave antibiotics and mentioned if he wasn’t better he may have to do X-rays…I asked for them to be done then and not wait. Like why are we waiting when we are already here! I’m refused to keep going back..let’s do it now. He said he didn’t expect to see what he did..a spot on his lungs. Some type of virus or pneumonia going on and if it got worse I would need to take him to specialists to look further. Well a few hours later he was worse! Panting and breathing like it was his last breath. I called them again and was referred to VSS that found the issue. My Yorkie had emergency surgery went into shock and died. There was some type of small bone lodged in his throat. He had been with the sitter while we were away and ingested something maybe when out to potty. I called today to let them know what had happened and they said they knew and had gotten the report from the ER. No offer of condolences no compassion for my loss!!! I feel this vet failed us because he didn’t believe my dog was sick. I showed him video of how my dog was acting at home and he barely looked at it! My purpose for this review is to tell others if your dog is really sick because we know our pets!!! Don’t settle for uncaring doctors who say nothing is really wrong! Be persistent and take them right to the ER. This office is good for shots etc..but if your dog is really sick..do not go here! You may loose your pet like I did and trust me they don’t give two hoots!!! Two visits my bill was approximately $870!!!! If only he had taken me serious the first visit!! My heart is broken! Please beware and be persistent for your dogs health. March 22 · Antonia Boyd
- Wonderful and thorough vet. I have 3 animals so everything can get pricey. The vet goes over a treatment plan with prices to make sure I can afford it. The prices are very reasonable. Defiantly would recommend to family and friends. November 12 · Stephanie Salyers
- I think Cross keys animal clinic is an excellent veterinarian clinic. The vet always seems so excited to see my puppy and when I call with questions the receptionist always makes an effort. May 20 · Doris Beason
- Great place for my furry friend. They got us in and out quickly and helped ease my worries. We will be back. April 26 · brandon krieger
