Glenkirk Animal Hospital Reviews
I was honestly a little concerned at first after reading some of the reviews for this animal hospital, a few had me second-guessing whether I should bring my dog here. But after my visit, I can confidently say my experience was nothing like what some people complained about. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff were kind and welcoming. The techs were super gentle with my dog, who can be anxious around new people, and the veterinarian took the time to explain everything clearly without rushing. The facility was clean, organized, and had a calm atmosphere.I’m really glad I trusted my gut and gave them a chance. It’s clear they care about the animals they treat and the families who bring them in. I’d definitely recommend them and will be coming back.
Jun 22, 2025 · Christopher SprinkleGlenkirk Animal Hospital was a lifesaver when my dog started developing chronic eye ulcers. They got us in the same day and even helped connect us with a veterinary ophthalmologist. Every time I’ve needed care, whether it's a scheduled visit or a last-minute issue, they’ve been accommodating. I even showed up three hours early once by mistake, and they still found a way to see us without any fuss. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful.
Jun 12, 2025 · MamacrocigatorThe most painful day of my life and the cruelty of the doctor is something that will always stay with me.My mother had called this office multiple times the day of my beloved chihuahua’s death after we learned the gravity of his illness. I understand that the doctor was swamped and couldn’t get to the phone on a timely manner. My family works in healthcare and understands the struggle of balancing a busy schedule seeing patients & following up with previous patients. However, when the doctor told me that he would forward me the x-ray of the mass by his liver, he didn’t. We called and asked for it. When my family had additional questions regarding Simba’s condition the vet was angry and condescending. I will never forget his tone with my mother the morning after Simba died. He was defensive. He didn’t know I was in the room and rudely told my mother, “I already explained this to your daughter,” making it seem like I either withheld information from my family and/or was incompetent. We were grieving. We were NOT blaming lack of medical attention to his death. He literally yelled at my mother and blamed us for Simba’s death saying, “I told your daughter if he got worse to take him to the emergency vet.” We didn’t blame him for Simba’s death yet he blamed my family. Simba’s passing was difficult but it was beautiful and sacred. His entire life held him as he passed. We got pitiful “sorry for your loss” replies when the staff was informed of his passing. No postcards, no kind words, no rainbow bridge poem beyond that.As I was leaving I had to ask the vet for pain medication for my baby. He initially pushed back, saying Simba wasn’t in pain. He did cave and let me leave with it.Prior to this he tried to peddle a subcutaneous injection for his fur, saying it would “make him feel more comfortable”. I declined. Based on his bloodwork and X-ray, it was very clear that Simba was likely to pass within the next 24 hours. He had extremely high blood sugar, amongst other abnormalities, and yet the doctor was suggesting a urine test to confirm diabetes diagnosis. He had a massive mass by the liver and yet the doctor was pushing ultrasound the following day. I understand that additional imaging and labs are necessary for official diagnosis but in the context of Simba’s severe illness and end-of-life symptoms it appeared to me that perhaps these were superfluous attempts to wring money out of an actively dying patient. And we both knew it.I was in deep shock and grief when all of this was unfolding. Sure, additional services were offered— but comfort care never was. I felt as though the clinic saw dollar signs hanging over my head. The doctor gave me options and told me to call my family. I opted to leave in tears and speak to my family in person. Simba deteriorated within an hour and after accepting that his labored breathing was in fact agonal breathing, I called my family in, including Simba’s dog brother, to share our love.I somehow managed to get out of bed the next morning. The first thing I heard was the doctor suggesting loudly to my mother that I am an imbecile and was the reason for my baby’s passing. There is an art to healing and it goes beyond being a good clinician.I have received better attention from the mobile clinic at Vetco, our new vet at Summit, and emergency care at MedVet. I will never tolerate a doctor like this for my dogs ever again.
Jun 29, 2025 · Khaeyo Mari VillaruelI was debating if I should make this review or not but after reading other 1-2 star reviews and speaking to my wife, we have agreed it is the right thing to do. Please be warned, the vet here is not warm towards your animal. At all. Not in the very least. The tech that helped me initially was very sweet and I hope she can find a better clinic to work for. However the Dr. (I did not catch his name) felt extremely judgey when I expressed that I just needed a wellness check for my dog and would not be able to afford any vaccines today. I just want to make sure she is healthy and no issues. Kona was clearly experiencing a bit of anxiety as she does NOT like the vet at all. He did not make her experience any better. Instead of trying to comfort her and make her feel safe with him and get to know her a bit, he immediately put a muzzle on her and got right to it. That has NEVER been my experience anywhere. Usually the vet will take their time and pet the pups or give them love. Without even conducting any tests, then tells me he suspects she has a hyperthyroid issue which is EXTREMELY rare for my dog and her breed at her age. It’s almost like a scare tactic to make you feel like you need to conduct more tests. I paid $64 for him to tell me.. wait for it.. nothing. Besides “she might have a hyper thyroid issue” and she needs a couple vaccines. that’s all that was said to me. I asked if I should change her food? Nothing. I asked if she looks ok from what he saw? Nothing. As a vet sir, you are the bridge to telling me about my dog because I cannot talk to them. Do that instead of judging people and being cold. Speak to me however you please, but when it comes to my dog, compassion and thoroughness is the bare minimum. It seems this is just a paycheck for him and does not come across as much of an animal lover.
