Glickstein Jerome M DVM appears to operate as a specialized veterinary practice, with a notable emphasis on ophthalmology. While the specific mission statement for this individual practice is not widely available, specialized veterinary clinics typically aim to provide in-depth expertise and advanced treatment options for particular medical fields. In the context of ophthalmology, this means focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various eye conditions and diseases in animals. Reviews from past clients provide insights into the patient experience. Some indicate that Dr. Glickstein is a specialist in eye care. The nature of specialized veterinary practices means they often handle complex cases, sometimes involving chronic conditions or those that have not responded to general veterinary care. Pet owners seeking very specific expertise, particularly for ocular health issues, might consider this practice.

Given the strong indications from public information and customer reviews that Glickstein Jerome M DVM specializes in ophthalmology, the services offered would primarily revolve around eye care for pets. While a comprehensive list is not available, typical services provided by a veterinary ophthalmologist would include:
- Ophthalmic Examinations: Comprehensive eye exams to diagnose various conditions, including but not limited to cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, and corneal ulcers. This involves specialized equipment to examine the internal and external structures of the eye.
- Ophthalmic Surgery: Procedures such as cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, cherry eye repair, and other corrective or therapeutic eye surgeries.
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Eye Conditions: Management of ongoing eye problems, which may involve long-term medication, regular monitoring, and specialized treatment plans.
- Ocular Emergency Care: Addressing acute eye injuries, sudden vision loss, or severe infections.
- Advanced Diagnostic Testing: Utilizing specialized tests beyond a general veterinary clinic, such as electroretinography (ERG) or ocular ultrasounds, to gain a deeper understanding of eye health.
- Prescription and Management of Ophthalmic Medications: Dispensing specialized eye drops, ointments, and oral medications for various eye conditions.
- Consultations and Referrals: Providing second opinions for complex cases and collaborating with general practice veterinarians for comprehensive patient care.
As a specialized practice, Glickstein Jerome M DVM may present certain features and highlights that are pertinent for pet owners seeking specific eye care. Based on customer reviews, some potential highlights or considerations include:
- Ophthalmology Specialization: The primary highlight is the focus on veterinary ophthalmology, making it a potential resource for pet owners whose animals require expert eye care beyond what a general vet can offer. Dr. Glickstein is mentioned as an eye specialist in reviews, and public information indicates his background includes an ophthalmology residency and post-doctoral fellowship in ophthalmic pathology.
- Handling Complex Eye Conditions: Given the specialized nature, the practice likely handles a range of complex and chronic eye problems that might not be treatable by general veterinarians.
- Potential for Long-Term Relationships: For chronic eye conditions, pet owners may develop long-term relationships with the practice for ongoing management and treatment.
- Availability of Specific Treatments: The practice would have access to and expertise in administering specialized ophthalmic treatments and medications not commonly found in general veterinary clinics.
However, it is also important for potential clients to be aware of certain aspects highlighted in public reviews, which could be considered as challenges or areas for consideration:
- Extended Wait Times: Multiple reviews explicitly mention "unreasonably long wait times," with one describing a 12-hour wait. This is a significant consideration for pet owners planning a visit.
- Communication and Transparency Concerns: Some reviews indicate issues with clear communication regarding charges for services and a lack of upfront discussion about costs, which could lead to unexpected expenses.
- Record Keeping Challenges: Concerns were raised about medical record keeping, with instances of records being incomplete or lost. This can be problematic for continuity of care, especially when seeking second opinions or transitioning care to another provider.
- Limited Pharmacy Options: A review noted that prescriptions were called into "ONE PHARMACY ONLY" which required shipping, potentially incurring higher costs and limiting choice for pet owners.
- Perceived Lack of Empathy/Attitude: One review described Dr. Glickstein as having "copped an attitude" and implying a lack of care, which can negatively impact the client experience.

The practice's focus on eye diseases means it can potentially provide the in-depth expertise and specialized treatments necessary for complex ocular issues that might not be available at general veterinary clinics. Its location on Veterans Highway in Levittown ensures accessibility for many local residents seeking this niche care.
However, it is crucial for local pet owners to consider the full scope of available public feedback. While the specialization itself is a key advantage for certain conditions, reviews highlight significant concerns regarding potentially long wait times, issues with billing transparency, challenges with medical record keeping, and perceived communication styles. For those considering Glickstein Jerome M DVM, it would be prudent to weigh these factors carefully, perhaps by calling ahead to discuss wait times and potential costs in detail, and considering whether the specialized care outweighs the reported logistical and communication challenges. For pets requiring dedicated eye care, this practice represents a local specialized option, but prospective clients should engage with a full understanding of the service experience as reported by other community members.

Glickstein Jerome M DVM Reviews
Thinks a lot of himself. I was in his office which was 2 hours from my home for 12 hours. TWELVE HOURS!! I had to leave because my 2 middle school kids were at home and I would not reach home until midnight. Dr. G copped an attitude, saying I did not care about my dog. None of his treatments worked for either of my dogs. Their eyes had to be removed.
May 16, 2022 · Dorothy FagerMy dog has been Dr. Glickstein's patient for at least five years and this review is prompted by the last straw. For various reasons, I recently decided to try a new eye doctor and requested my dog's records from Dr. Glickstein. I received ONE PAGE from one visit - all those visits and I got ONE PAGE. That is shameful. My dog has a chronic eye problem for which he has been seen by Dr. Glickstein. Two years ago, Dr. Glickstein also suspected another condition that would blind my dog in two years. I was devastated. Dr. Glickstein recommended I get costly testing for the condition (even though there is no cure). I decided it was a pointless expense if there is no cure. The next year, Dr. Glickstein reversed his opinion on that diagnosis. I don't mind that he reversed his opinion, but I mind that Dr. Glickstein is unable or unwilling to provide my dog's medical record for such a critical diagnosis. Dr. Glickstein carries his medical records with him and lost my dog's records after his first three years of visits. Now it seems he has lost all but one year.In at least five years of visits for my dog's chronic condition, there was one prescription that Glickstein called in to ONE PHARMACY ONLY. No other treatment has ever been attempted or recommended and my dog probably hasn't enjoyed a day without discomfort in all those years. When I recently mentioned this to my dog's regular vet, he was shocked and prescribed another medication, which worked better than what Glickstein has prescribed for five straight years. He questioned why Glickstein would only use ONE pharmacy, which must ship the medicine to me, incurring even higher costs. He also seemed surprised that the medicine Glickstein prescribed was to be administered four times a day: "That's ridiculous," he said. Until recently, Glickstein was the only eye specialist in south central Pennsylvania. Now there are two others and I decided to try one of them. And when I do, she will have ONE PAGE of barely legible records after at least FIVE YEARS of care by Dr. Glickstein. This is not only shameful, it's irresponsible. And one more thing. My dog also uses an over-the-counter eye lubricant. Dr. Glickstein charges $5 to $10 more per tube than online stores. When I told him I was ordering it from online pharmacies, he gave me a rather curt lecture about the danger of counterfeit medications. It's not as if I don't spend a small fortune on my pet, but Dr. Glickstein apparently thinks mine is an unending budget. The unreasonably long wait time to see Dr. Glickstein is well documented, so I won't go there. But I'll say this: there are two other canine eye doctors in south central Pennsylvania. Make this was one your last resort.
Jun 28, 2017 · Susan LindtDr. G is the most caring vet I’ve ever seen. He frequently does not even charge for visits for quick checks. He also always looks for the best price for meds. Not sure why some say he charges more for drops. An emergency visit on a Saturday turned into a surgery that went into Sunday at a different location. Dr G is the best.
Dec 24, 2018 · Glenn StankovicsLove him. Does he run late?? Yes, but so worth waiting for. Does his eye drops cost a little more??? Yes, but he checks to make sure thet are the best. How do I know this you may ask?? Doing 6 drops a day and eye pressure is thru the roof. Got the drops from a national pharmacy. Not a good company that makes them. About the most caring Vet ever. Worth every and time spent. Thank you Dr. G!!
Apr 07, 2018 · Martha klischerOur dog has been going to this doctor for about 2 years. Different medications and different dosages. Nothing was helping. Long waiting, and was told past 1am is not unusual as he only is at our office in the evenings and continues until all sheduled patients are seen; also sometimes the doctor can not get to the facility on time pushing your appointment behind an hour or so.This happened to us and was told the office would call when the doctor arrived, however I never received a call that night or even a week later. Not a bad vet, but definitely overbooked. We have just switched to a opthmology vet in Norristown Pa; longer drive, but shorter wait. She prescribed two different medications for our dog and one was restasis, and omg our dog so did respond within 4 months; We wish Dr. Glickstein would of thought of this. The dog also developed ulcers in between visits with glickstien and the new vet prescribed abt drops which helped a lot. 50 percent improvement thus far. He still has good days and bad days. The medication the doctor in Norristown prescribed is definitely more expensive, and the visits are more pricey too, but being we have the money to spend on our “little under dog” and as he is a part of our family we don’t mind.
