Henderson Veterinary Medical Center Introduce
For pet owners in Henderson, Kentucky, and the surrounding areas, finding a trusted partner in animal health is essential for the long, happy life of your companion. Henderson Veterinary Medical Center (HVMC), located conveniently on US-41, has established a long legacy of providing quality small animal medicine to the community since its founding in 1985. Now owned by Dr.'s Ethan & Erin Wilborn, the center continues its commitment to offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care in a friendly, hometown environment.
The core philosophy at HVMC is centered on Preventative Medicine. The veterinarians and staff believe that a proactive approach, starting with Puppy/Kitten Visits and leading into regular annual checkups, is the key to minimizing serious health issues later in life. They strive to deliver personalized health strategies, ensuring every pet receives care tailored to their age, breed, and lifestyle in the Kentucky environment. This includes everything from appropriate nutrition counseling to creating an individualized Vaccination Schedule.
While the clinic maintains its commitment to routine wellness, it is also equipped to handle advanced medical needs. The facility offers a variety of specialized services, including advanced Surgical Services like routine Spay/Neuter procedures and complex Soft Tissue Surgeries. Furthermore, their in-house diagnostic capabilities, featuring Ray And Ultrasound machines, allow the veterinary team to quickly and accurately diagnose complex internal issues, which is crucial for timely treatment and managing Chronic Care conditions.
It is important for local users to note that while HVMC strives to provide the highest level of care during regular business hours—and can handle some Emergency Surgeries if staff and scheduling allow—they operate by appointment only and do not typically offer after-hours or weekend emergency services. Their focus is on scheduled, high-quality, non-urgent medical care, which allows the team to dedicate appropriate time and attention to each pet during their scheduled visit.
The dedication of the staff is integral to the center's mission. The team is not only medically skilled but is also committed to compassion and support, offering guidance on sensitive topics like Geriatric Care and providing supportive Euthanasia services when the difficult time comes. They aim to be a true partner in your pet's entire life journey in the Henderson, KY, area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Thank you for your response. However, I feel it’s important to clarify why I remain dissatisfied. When the doctor called me about the mistake, she laughed while telling me the wrong tooth had been extracted and referred to it as a “nothing tooth.” For my small dog, no healthy tooth is insignificant, and I found that attitude deeply unprofessional. While I understand that errors can occur, the way they are handled makes all the difference. Simply waiving the charge for the incorrectly pulled tooth — a tooth that should never have been removed — was presented as a favor rather than true accountability. What I had hoped for was a more serious and respectful acknowledgment of the impact of this mistake.Because of the way this situation was handled, I have unfortunately lost trust in your practice and will be seeking veterinary care elsewhere. - I had a very disappointing experience at Henderson Veterinary Medical Center that has led me to find a new veterinary provider for my dog. During a recent visit, the wrong tooth was extracted from my pet. The clinic staff declined to provide any compensation or reduction in charges for the mistake. The staff member only offered not to charge for the incorrectly pulled tooth, presenting this as though it were a generous gesture rather than addressing the actual error. The overall environment felt disorganized, with visibly stressed staff members, which contributed to my concerns about the quality of care and attention to detail. Medical errors can happen, but the clinic’s response to this situation was inadequate and unprofessional.I cannot recommend this practice and will be seeking veterinary care elsewhere for my pet’s future needs. - So I'm leaving the review on this company due to the fact, approx 2 months ago I brought my 13-year-old Chihuahua in good health to this clinic. Only to have a check up done because she had a slight change in her eating habit. Was concerned there may be some issues in her abdomen or intestines. So I brought her in to the place that I have been coming to for 13 years, on more than one occasion. Throughout that time the previous owners had been great at allowing clientele to make payments that way their animals could still be seen and taken care of. On this particular day I brought my Roxy in, and requested that the doctor do some blood work on her because she just hadn't eaten for probably the last couple of days, as well as abnormal bowel movements. The vet had told me after just doing a few minor pokes around her belly that she probably just had some sort of abdominal infection that they could clear up with just antibiotics. And I asked her can we still do the blood work just in case, she said that the blood work alone was going to cost me $150 as well as an additional fee for the visit alone which was $80. At the time I only had enough money to pay for the visit alone, but requested that she still do the blood work and I can arrange a payment plan like I had done with the previous owners. I've been bringing my animals here for 13 plus years with the previous owner had made many payment arrangements that were documented and still are and never failed on a payment never missed the payment by the due date. But the new vet seem to have no heart, and flat out told me that it wasn't an option that if she did it for me, she would have to do it for everyone and would never get paid for anyone's services. I believe I had a Justified argument in the matter due to documentation where I never missed a payment and now that this has all taking place my poor Roxy is no longer with us because she had major bowel issues that the doctor could have noticed something abnormal in the blood work. And would have warranted an x-ray and they probably could have saved her life. Now I sit here mind blown that this has happened heartbroken and just absolutely lost without her. But I figured I would leave this nice review for you all to see let you be your own opinion to judge but I don't believe she was right and doing so I do believe Roxy would still be here today had we gotten to work that we requested. I mean do we deny human being medical treatment.? December 27 · Landa Ray
- I love Dr Nichols and Dr Wilborn and the staff here. Everyone has been so compassionate and helpful for all my pets needs. Plus you can't beat their prices anywhere around. Having worked in the veterinary field myself for 10+ years, I won't take my kiddos anywhere else. Thank you guys for all you do! May 21 · Phoebe Ballard
- Dr. Wilborn was truly kind and professional. Thank you for helping Marz and tackling his ear infection. April 17 · Maria Roark
