Houndstooth Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery Introduce
When it comes to the health of your beloved dog or cat, you trust your veterinarian with their general well-being. However, for complex and specialized issues, particularly those concerning dental and oral health, a dedicated expert can be a game-changer. For pet owners in Washington and the broader Pacific Northwest, Houndstooth Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Longview, WA, has emerged as a premier destination for advanced veterinary dental care. This is not a general practice; it is a specialized clinic devoted exclusively to the intricate world of pet dentistry and oral surgery. The team, including highly skilled veterinarians like Dr. Grellmann, offers a level of expertise and personalized attention that is truly exceptional. As one grateful client from Portland, Oregon, shared, this clinic was the only place they could turn for their cat's complex jaw surgery, and the team not only provided a solution but did so with an incredible amount of "kindness and compassion." This focus on both professional excellence and genuine care is what sets Houndstooth apart.
The clinic’s philosophy is built on the understanding that oral health is directly tied to a pet’s overall quality of life. Pain from dental issues can go unnoticed by pet owners, and it can significantly impact an animal's happiness and well-being. By specializing, Houndstooth can provide a deeper level of knowledge and skill for conditions that are often beyond the scope of a general veterinary practice. The team is committed to pet owner education, taking the time to explain a diagnosis, treatment options, and home care. This is a crucial element of their service, as one client noted that a veterinarian spent over an hour explaining everything from treatment options for a root canal to general dog dental knowledge. This patient-first approach, where the clinic often sees only one major surgical patient per day, ensures that each animal and their family receive their undivided attention. For a pet owner, this means feeling heard, understood, and confident that their animal is in the very best hands.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I cannot say enough amazing things about this veterinary oral surgery clinic. My cat, Stormy, needed jaw surgery and we had no where else to turn. Most of the ERs around Portland said they could not do what she needed, without even giving her a x-ray first! This team immediately welcomed us, took us in, and treated Stormy with so much kindness and compassion. They were not only professional but also genuinely cared about her life and well-being, not just the money. They were flexible, reassuring, and truly made us feel like Stormy was in the very best hands. We drove an hour from Portland to Longview, and I would gladly drive hours more if it meant Stormy could be cared for here. Thanks to them, Stormy got the surgery she needed and is doing so well. I trust this team completely and will recommend them to anyone who has a pet in need of care. They absolutely saved my cat’s life, and I will forever be grateful.
August 28 · TaliyaWe brought our dog for root canal. It was a great experience and worth the 2.5 hours drive.Dr Grellmann spent 1hour+ to explain different treatment options and general dog dental knowledge. Very patient and knowledgeable. She only treat one dog a day (for surgery like this), that is why she has time to talk with patients. The consultation and surgery was done the same day. The surgery is a great success. I am glad that we are able to save our dog's teeth. We also did teeth cleaning, our dog's teeth is as white as day one. No tartar at all.The price is awesome too. I never imaging to get this price at Seattle
August 08 · Susy YangWe had the best experience here!! Dr Grellmann and her team are amazing. So professional and clean! Plus- all the rooms and lobby are super cute.Everyone treated my pup with such kindness and compassion. So grateful to have brought my pup here for a root canal
March 10 · Christine PaulinoDr. Grellmann is amazing!! She has went above and beyond to make sure that my father's fur baby was well taken care of ❤️ Zuse, a toy Australian Shepherd was sustained a dog bite jaw fracture which required surgery to ensure Zuse would have the quality of life that he deserves. Dr.Grellmann was encouraging and knowledgeable and informative. She took my call at 8pm and she had us in as soon as we were able to get to her location (i live out-of-state. And yes, we even traveled 2 hours for Dr.Grellmann's care!).Her and her staff came in a hour early and stayed past closing time. And since I needed to stay around until Zuse was done, she offered my family and I the larger room to wait if we needed it. Highly recommend Houndstooth!! 💯
April 18 · Larissa StothoffMy husband and I are so absolutely grateful to Dr. Grellmann and her wonderful team for the way they've treated us and our two dogs, Kristoff and Lilo. The journey's just begun, but it's thanks to them that Kristoff and Lilo now have a fighting chance at keeping a full mouth of healthy teeth. Our primary vet had recommended Kristoff get 13 teeth pulled, and to hear that after brushing his teeth every day, bringing him in for his routine cleanings ever since he was a wee pup, it was a blow to the gut. I am so thankful that I declined the extractions that day, and found Dr. Grellman. I had reached out to all the vet dentists in Washington state, but it was the way Dr. Grellman responded to my emails, in such a thorough and compassionate manner, that the 4.5 hour round trip to Longview seemed worth it, and it was. They worked the whole day, doing the best they possibly could, for our babies. Dr. Grellman is also so incredibly thorough with her documentation and examination. Not only did she find other things that other vets had missed, she didn't pull a single tooth that day. Of course there's no guarantee that no teeth will have to be pulled in the future, but the crucial part is that Dr. Grellman understood that we wanted to give it 110% before we give up, and that kind of attitude can be so hard to find. We look forward to continuing our journey with this team, and cannot recommend them enough.
