My dog died because of their negligence. In early December of last year I took my Pomeranian, Cooper, to Iredell Companion Animal Hospital and told them He was making strange movements with his mouth and having trouble eating.First they said he just needs his teeth cleaned, so I took him back the following week and had his teeth cleaned. A week after that he was still having trouble eating and making those funny movements with his mouth. They told me "give it another week he'll be fine. A week later it is getting worse and he is having more trouble eating. To make a long story short, he continued to go downhill and I took him back twice in the next couple of weeks. First they told me he had some infection in his gums and they gave him antibiotics. The next week when they saw him they said his liver enzymes were elevated, his heart was enlarged, and he had fluid around his heart. They sent him home with multiple prescriptions this time. The following Monday and said he is not able to eat at all and he is going to die if you don't find out what is wrong, so they said bring him in the next morning. I was told I could pick him up after 4:00. That never happened, because when I got back from lunch Dr. McCurry called me to tell me he died while they were checking his mouth. Originally, they told me he had something wrapped around his tongue that had actually imbedded itself into his tongue. They told me that when they tried to pull his tongue out that it (his tongue literally came apart and he went into shock and died. I was told that it was something rubber and that this was he first time they had seen it. And that all that damage happened over about a week. I am not stupid, and I can tell you in hindsight that I should have taken him to another vet. But I trusted them with my pup and thought they knew what they were doing. I was so devastated that I wrote them a letter and told them I would not be back. I said if you will send me a statement, I will send you a check. That was after Cooper died in January. I never heard anything from them and so I thought they knew they were responsible that they must have written it off. However, I got a bill from them today and it said they were turning it over to collections if not paid by May 15th. I was caught completely off guard because this was the first I had heard from them since January. I was so upset I called my sister-in-law and told her. I did not know she was going to, but she said she was so angry she called them. She said she told them it was about Cooper and the lady said is it about the cancer on his tongue? She said no it was about them not finding the foreign object they said was wrapped around his tongue that caused him to die. This is the first time anyone said anything to me about cancer. The day he died all they said was that he had something wrapped around his tongue that had imbedded itself and caused infection. My guess is they are trying to cover themselves now by telling my sister-in-law it was cancer. Everything I have stated in this review is fact and unless they destroyed Cooper's records it can be proven.

The best vets office in Statesville hands down. Dr. McCurry has neutered multiple of our cats and has treated so many of our animals for other reasons. He and his staff are so compassionate and understanding. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for veterinary care in the area. Additionally, Elaine does a great job when it comes to pet grooming! She’s the best.

I called on Friday to make sure what time on Saturday I could bring my dog to get his nails clipped and I was told between 9 am and 1 pm I got there at 10 am and the place was closed a big waste of my time. If your sign says something follow it.

I have been using Iredell Companion for over 10 years for my cat Emma. The practice may be small, but it is calm, friendly and clean-and the tender care cannot be beat. We are about to bring home a new puppy and I am so glad we have the staff and Dr. McCurry to care for our fur family. I highly recommend Iredell Companion Animal Hospital.

My pup Kali has been going here ever since her first set of shots when she was a baby, every Appointment she is always excited to see Dr.McCurry especially when he gives her treats!! 😆 Dr.M is by far the best around, He actually cares and really enjoys what he does, is very reasonable with pricing and has wonderful staff for your Fur-Babies!!!
