Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center provides a wide array of services, encompassing both general wellness and highly specialized medical and surgical interventions. Their offerings are designed to address a full spectrum of pet health needs:
24/7 Emergency Services: This is a core pillar of EPVMC's offerings. A dedicated team of emergency veterinarians and technicians are on duty around the clock, 365 days a year, to handle critical cases such as injuries from trauma, diabetic crises, respiratory distress, toxin exposure, severe vomiting/diarrhea, neurological problems (like seizures), and more. They prioritize cases based on severity, ensuring immediate attention for the most critical patients. Pet owners are encouraged to call ahead if possible, but immediate walk-ins for emergencies are accepted.
Specialty Referral Services: EPVMC is equipped with multiple specialty departments, allowing for advanced care in complex cases. These include:
Ophthalmology: Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases in various animals, including dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, and small farm animals. They offer a large spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic options, like retinal testing and cataract surgery.
Internal Medicine: Diagnosing and treating serious and chronic health problems that require specialized expertise, often collaborating with referring veterinarians for conditions related to endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and urology.
Neurology & Neurosurgery: Focusing on diagnosing and managing neurological disorders in animals, providing advanced treatment protocols for conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.
Surgery Services (Orthopedic & Soft Tissue): Offering both complex orthopedic surgeries (for joint problems, torn ligaments, broken bones, TPLO, fracture repair) and a wide range of soft tissue surgeries (such as mass removal, abdominal explores, and various other procedures not related to joints or bones). All surgeries are scheduled through dedicated coordinators.
Cardiology Services: Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.
Anesthesia & Pain Management: Expertise in safe anesthesia protocols and effective pain control for all procedures and conditions.
Advanced Diagnostic Services: Utilizing cutting-edge technology for accurate and rapid diagnosis. This includes:
In-House Laboratory Services: For quick results on blood work, chemistry panels, and other vital tests.
Radiology (X-rays): Advanced imaging for evaluating bones, organs, and other internal structures.
Diagnostic Ultrasounds: Highly useful for evaluating internal organs, heart conditions, cysts, and tumors.
General Wellness and Preventive Care (in collaboration with primary vets): While primarily a specialty/emergency hospital, they emphasize the importance of preventative care and work closely with primary care veterinarians. Services often include general wellness exams (though routine wellness is typically handled by your regular vet), vaccinations, parasite control, microchipping, and diet & nutrition guidance. They provide continuous care and share information back with your primary veterinarian.
Dentistry: Annual dental exams and cleanings are recommended to protect pets from many health problems and help them maintain a healthy and clean mouth.
Acupuncture Therapy: Offering holistic and therapeutic options, acupuncture can be a pain-free way to treat various conditions, particularly those involving inflammation and pain.
24/7 Emergency and Critical Care: This is arguably their most significant highlight. Knowing that expert veterinary care is available around the clock for any pet emergency provides immense peace of mind for pet owners in Eastern Pennsylvania. They are equipped to handle critical situations with immediate attention.
Board-Certified Specialists: EPVMC boasts a team of veterinarians with advanced training and board certifications in various specialties like ophthalmology, neurology, and surgery. This means pets with complex conditions receive care from leading experts in their respective fields.
Compassionate and Dedicated Staff: Numerous client testimonials consistently praise the entire staff – from receptionists to nurses and doctors – for their genuine care, compassion, and professionalism. Clients feel listened to and supported, especially during stressful or emotional times. The empathy shown by the staff, even during difficult decisions like end-of-life care, is highly valued.
Thorough and Honest Approach: Pet owners appreciate the veterinarians' thorough examinations and clear explanations. Reviewers highlight instances where expensive testing was deemed unnecessary, demonstrating an ethical approach focused on the pet's best interest rather than generating revenue. This builds significant trust for future care decisions.
State-of-the-Art Facilities and Technology: Equipped with advanced diagnostic tools (in-house lab, radiology, ultrasound) and surgical suites, EPVMC can provide high-level care, accurate diagnoses, and effective treatments for a wide range of conditions.
Collaborative Care with Primary Veterinarians: EPVMC acts as an extension of your primary vet, ensuring seamless communication and transfer of information. This collaborative approach means your pet receives consistent, comprehensive care, with their regular veterinarian kept informed of any specialty or emergency treatments.
Focus on Patient and Owner Comfort: The hospital strives to make stressful situations as comfortable as possible, providing clear communication, offering estimates for treatment plans, and explaining conditions thoroughly to pet parents.

Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center Reviews
We love Eastern Pa Veterinary Hospital! The staff, nurses & doctors truly care about our fur babies! We were in recently with our dog, Kooper, who had severe diarrhea & vomiting. We were seen very quickly & with great care and concern. Kooper was taken back for treatment & he was released shortly after. Kooper also sees Dr Landis, his ophthalmologist, on a yearly basis and she is nothing short of amazing! 5 stars for Eastern Pa Vet Hospital!
May 16, 2025 · Sue-Ann WebbDr. Graham was so very knowledgeable. She asked excellent questions that helped me to describe the issues my puppy was experiencing. Her thorough, hands on exam left me confident that if there were any issues, she would have found them. Her honest opinion of how to proceed gave me great comfort. In this instance she felt more extensive (and expensive!) testing was not warranted. This experience will help in decision making about my pet’s care in the future. If Dr. Graham recommends a test or treatment in the future, I will be more willing to follow her advice, knowing she is recommending what is needed versus what will make the practice more money. All around excellent experience.
Feb 13, 2025 · Monica RyanAnother visit: another awesome review. April 25,2025This place deserves 10 plus stars ! My medical service dog, Bailey, has been hospitalized with broncho- pneumonia since Monday. This is the best emergency/specialty hospital I have ever encountered. As a woman who is 50 plus and has had. Pets her entire life, I am so grateful for the recommendation made by our primary vet of 25 plus years. I am waiting for an update. Don’t worry this is to be continued.

May 09, 2025 · Gina MartinezThis veternary hospital is top notch! If it wasn't for Dr. Tracy and everyone who participated in my fur baby's surgery and care, my boy could have been paralyzed for life! I brought him in to the emergency room to be seen, within 60 minutes there was a plan in place for surgery and Dr. Tracy added my boy to his list without hesitation to fix his partial paralysis! It was the holiday weekend and Dr. Tracy stayed late (after 8pm) which he did not have to do to help my fur baby. He is now walking and getting stronger everyday! A great BIG KUDDOS TO DR. TRACY AND ALL OF YOU WHO TRULY HELPED MY BOY WALK AGAIN! My family appreciates you more than you will ever know!
