We have in-house diagnostic equipment, as well as IDEXX laboratory services to provide any necessary blood work for diagnostic or pre-anesthetic purposes.

We recommend yearly blood work in order to help determine your pet's organ health. Blood work is also used to diagnose conditions or diseases in pets. Our in-house lab helps us get quick results. More advanced tests may be sent to an outside lab. Testing is recommended prior to surgical procedures.

Our Guest Services Assistants provide thorough post-bathing brush-outs for our furry guests.

Clean, healthy teeth and gums are vital to your pet's wellbeing. Our doctors can grade your pet's teeth and provide a treatment plan for a dental cleaning, which may include extractions or other more advanced dental procedures, if necessary.

Clean, healthy teeth and gums are vital to your pet's wellbeing. Diseased teeth are painful for your pet, and can cause odor, difficulty eating, as well as kidney and heart issues.

Our technicians can instruct you how to brush your pet's teeth. This should be done on a regular basis - preferably daily or every-other-day to keep your pet's mouth healthy.

We perform most all advanced dental procedures in our office. Make an appointment for an oral evaluation if you perceive a bad odor, heavy tartar, drooling, or inability to eat or unwillingness to eat.

Dental cleanings are always done under anesthetic sedation. Your pet's veterinarian will examine the mouth , probing the teeth and gums, looking under the tongue and throughout the mouth. A technician will scale (remove tartar) the teeth, polish and provide a fluoride treatment.

We perform many advanced procedures for pet dentistry including extractions of broken or decayed teeth, oral growths and more. The use of our digital dental x-ray equipment help our veterinarians see the condition of the pet's teeth under the gumline.

AHS provides advanced dentistry to help keep your pet's mouth in tip-top condition! Treatments vary by case. A pre-anesthetic evaluation can be made by exam, and then revised as necessary when patient is under anesthesia and can be examined more thoroughly. A treatment plan is always provided.

Heartworm is easily prevented by oral, topical or injectable medications. Heartworm disease is a deadly disease. Before starting prevention, your dog must be tested for the presence of signs of heartworm disease. Cats also suffer from heartworm disease. We have a topical preventative available.

We provide reproductive services for responsible dog breeders to help them produce the healthiest puppies possible. This can include various methods of artificial insemination, OFA, PennHIP testing, progesterone timing and more. Dr. Julia Zuercher heads our efforts in this area.

If you're not breeding your dog, it is important both for preventing unwanted puppies and health issues, to spay your female dog or cat. Your veterinarian will advise you of the best time to spay your dog. We recommend cats be spayed at 6 months of age.

Dr. Nichola Gaither has had special training to provide Echocardiograms to our patients. While she is not a specialist, she can perform echocardiograms in order to evaluate whether a patient needs to see a specialist, or whether it can be treated in-house.

Intestinal parasites can pose a serious health problem for your pet as well as your family. We recommend twice-yearly screening even on prevention, for the health and safety of your pet.

Flexible Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy can be a non-surgical way to remove foreign bodies from a larger dog (or possibly, cat). It can also be used to obtain biopsy samples and other diagnostics. Please see our website for more information.

Heartworm prevention is by prescription only. We provide only approved, effective, safe heartworm prevention at AHS. Products include oral medicaions, topicals and injectable preventions. Our doctors and technicians can help you find the right product for your pet!

With enough notice, we can provide home care for your pet. This will incur an additional fee, as our veterinarians will be traveling and also bringing along a technician or VPC for assistance. Home visits must be scheduled well in advance.

At AHS, Pets are Family, Too. We are honored to provide compassionate care for your pet at this most emotional and important time .

AHS has a separate ICU room to provide intensive care services for your pet. A glass wall enables nursing and patient care team constant observation from our treatment room, as well.

Parasites are a common and potentially serious health concern for pets and their families. We recommend at least twice yearly parasite screenings for both cats and dogs. Many of our heartworm preventatives also help control intestinal parasites.

K-laser therapy is a pain-free way to help heal soft tissue injuries, wounds and more. AHS uses the K-laser to treat surgical incisions, helping them heal more quickly.

We offer overnight boarding for dogs and cats. Cats have a separate boarding area with condos that can be connected to "sibling" cats, if they are all boarded at once. We have several different sizes of boarding suites. The luxury suites have webcams, TVs and comfy "bone" beds.

Dr. Brett J. Pendergrass offers the MMP (Modified Maquet Procedure) for cruciate (knee) repair. It is less costly than other common procedures and recovery time is shorter.

This is a permanent form of ID for your pet. It is the size of a piece of rice with a number that, when scanned, can be traced back to you.

End-of-life decisions are never easy. We honor our client's wishes for advanced treatments, or keeping their pet comfortable at this time. Our goal, then, is to relieve any pain and provide comfort to your pet (as well as support for you) as he or she makes ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Parasites can be both internal (various "worms") and external (fleas, ticks, mange). Several of our heartworm (which is also a parasite) medications control intestinal parasites, fleas, ticks, some mange mites as well as heartworms. Pet must be tested for heartworms prior to starting monthly tx.

The physical exam is one of the most important preventive services our veterinarians provide. We recommend 2 exams annually for wellness.

We carry small bags of Hills prescription foods at our hospital. Larger bags are available in our Online Store, with autoship options that deliver straight to your door. Clients also have access to our online pharmacy, as well. Our prices are competitive with "big box" online retailers.

We recommend all pets, both dogs and cats, be on internal (heartworm, intestional parasite) and external parasite (flea and tick) control. These are available in pill form, as well as topicals and injectables. Pets must be heartworm tested prior to starting many of these preventive medications.

We believe it is better to prevent medical problems than to have to treat them. We recommend twice yearly wellness visits to this end. We also offer Preventive Health Care Plans for all life stages of your pet.
