While one review mentions a negative experience, it is important to consider that a single incident does not always reflect the overall quality of care. The hospital's focus on thorough exams, as highlighted by another review, and their wide range of services suggest a commitment to quality. The negative review, however, does underscore the importance of clear communication between pet owner and vet, and the need for owners to feel their concerns are being heard and taken seriously, especially with elderly pets or those showing serious symptoms.

Choosing a veterinarian is a deeply personal decision, and for pet owners in Washington, Klahaya Animal Hospital offers several compelling reasons to be your choice. The most significant is the combination of advanced medical services with a staff that is consistently described as kind and thorough. The positive reviews from happy clients highlight the professional and welcoming atmosphere that makes visits stress-free and pleasant.
The wide range of services offered, from routine check-ups and preventative care to specialized surgeries and reproductive services, means that Klahaya Animal Hospital can be a lifelong partner in your pet’s health. While one negative review about a missed diagnosis is concerning, it's also important to consider the context. The majority of reviews praise the staff and the doctor's thoroughness and kindness, and it is possible that the incident was an anomaly. It does, however, serve as a reminder for all pet owners to be diligent in communicating their concerns and for a veterinarian to have a process in place to follow up on serious symptoms. Klahaya Animal Hospital’s stated commitment to being a "trustworthy and respected animal care facility" indicates a strong professional ethic. The presence of both positive and negative reviews is a reminder that experiences can vary, but the hospital’s core strengths—its comprehensive services, advanced technology, and compassionate staff—remain a strong foundation for a positive client relationship.

May 04 · Sybil BickarIf possible I’d give no stars at all. Maybe the vet is good and too busy, maybe the vet is simply lazy but in either case they have missed very obvious issues with all our animals at one point or another and we have changed vets. They missed an ear infection with our GSP even when we explicitly told them what was going on and sent in pictures, had to come back the next day with puss oozing out his ear to be “rechecked.” The most egregious issue is our most recent “check up” with our cat, was told that he looked great and no bloodwork was done, some vaccinations were given and just a basic look at his fur. We reported excessive yowling and vomiting as well as a decrease in weight, still no bloodwork or more serious check. A week later our cat stopped eating and it turns out he was in renal failure, the cat is dying in front of me as I type this review. Even better the vet missed an infection in my cats teeth so now for his last day on earth he has to be on pain medicine and exhausted. Absolutely worthless care for your animals. They are great at getting you the invoice though. Never fails there. If a vet isn’t going to do basic checks and actually check or run basic bloodwork when you report symptoms or they have new elderly patient, what exactly are they doing? If you need someone to eyeball your animals and send them home, let me know and I’ll do it for free. Absolutely worthless.
July 20 · Joshua BauerPoor standards of care, misses basic/obvious issues and symptoms, even when you explicitly bring an issue to their attention with a list and notes of symptoms, concerns, timings, and pictures. DO NOT TRUST THIS VET WITH YOUR PETS. Specific examples of how this vet has failed my family:1. Brought 12 year old cat in with recent weight loss, meowing, and vomiting. We mentioned possible worms. Vet did not offer or suggest any bloodwork or tests or fecal tests. Gave the cat de-wormer. He was given vaccinations and a clean bill of health.Brought the cat back same day with excessive vomiting- no bloodwork was taken. They gave him an anti nausea med. That is it.The next week we bring our cat in again for the third time with drooling, meowing, vomiting and refusal to eat. We request bloodwork. Our cat was in renal failure and passed away a few days later. The emergency vet found our cat had a badly infected tooth that was missed by Thorenson (klayaha vet) at the visit a week prior, so I know our cat was in pain and the tooth could not be pulled or treated because he was in kidney failure. I had to shove a pain pill down our cat's throat even though he would not eat and was nauseous because I did not want him to die in pain and i thought he might eat if his tooth didn't hurt. A VET SHOULD NOT MISS AN INFECTED TOOTH- THIS IS A BASIC AND VISUAL CHECK.The front staff sent me a list of emergency vets to call/check out across Seattle. I didn't know which ones were good or even accepting patients. I called all the vets and each time the office said the referring doctor/vet had to call. So that wasted an hour of my time in getting my cat emergency treatment. The front desk laughed at me when I was upset and said that they had to call and find out which emergency vet was open. No condolences, no apologies, just the bill and they took our cat off fluids before we even found a place to transfer him. The staff did not do their job and passed the emotional and time consuming work onto me, the owner with a full time job and a dying cat.2. Took my 4 year old dog in for an ear infection- I took pictures, I was specific and noted all the symptoms. Vet looked at it and said it was fine. After a day or two, the ear was oozing green puss and blood and our dog was in a lot of pain and needed a lot of meds and care/supervision. No apologies or anything.I am extremely disappointed, surprised and saddened at the lack of basic levels of care or interest in animals' health. I would have agreed to blood tests at any point or any annual exam if they were offered. I mistakenly trusted this "expert" to care for my pets and let me know what procedures or tests were available or needed. My cat could have been okay if we had blood tests run two weeks earlier when we brought him in the first time. They also have you drop off your pet so you can't be in the exam or the room while they examine or assess your pet most of the time. I will never use this vet again and WOULD NEVER SUGGEST this vet or staff to anyone, even if you need a vet ASAP. Every time we bring a pet in, there is almost always a followup needed. I have the records to demonstrate this point.
July 25 · Jessie-Raye BauerAfter four years of trying to understand why the front desk “person” was so obviously rude for every appointment we’ve changed vet clinics. While Klahaya is the recommended vet for fertility issues they are discriminatory and will only test if they “approve” your dog. We’ve had hip/elbow X-rays, Embark genetic testing and gensol test for DM clear. I called to ask about sperm count testing and was told I’d have to take our male in for a cardiology fitness test with a specialist before they would do any testing. When I questioned why this test is needed I was passed over to a different office person who yelled into the phone that I should go somewhere else. Fine. Don’t explain why you REQUIRE expensive testing prior to a sperm count test just stick with being rude and condescending. Horrible horrible HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT RECCOMEND
July 30 · RACHEL KAPERICKWe have taken all of our dogs to Dr Thoreson. He’s the best. We really feel like he has our pets best interest in mind and listens to what we have to say.The office/clinic staff is amazing. They are so friendly. The clinic is clean and comfortable. The parking lot can be challenging when school lets out but can’t blame Klahaya for that. Just allow a little extra time and watch for kiddos.
