TCAP Hurst focuses on providing essential, high-quality, and affordable veterinary services that are crucial for preventing pet overpopulation and maintaining basic pet health. Their streamlined approach allows them to deliver these vital services efficiently. Key services offered typically include:
Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Surgeries: This is a cornerstone of TCAP's mission. They provide affordable spaying for female dogs and cats and neutering for male dogs and cats. Surgeries are performed by licensed veterinarians. To qualify for these low-cost surgeries, pets typically need to be under 5 years old and under 80 lbs, with no pre-existing conditions, and appointments are required.
Low-Cost Vaccinations: TCAP offers a range of essential vaccinations for both dogs and cats, crucial for protecting pets from common and serious diseases. This includes Rabies, DHPPv (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) for dogs, and FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) for cats. Walk-in hours are available for vaccinations, making them highly accessible.
Wellness Services: Beyond vaccinations, TCAP Hurst provides other basic wellness services. These typically include microchipping for pet identification (a crucial step in reuniting lost pets), heartworm testing and prevention, and general parasite control for fleas and ticks. These are generally available during their walk-in wellness hours.
Dental Cleanings: TCAP also performs dental cleanings by appointment. These services typically include ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment. Similar to spay/neuter, there are usually eligibility requirements for dental procedures, such as pets needing to be under 10 years old and having no pre-existing conditions, to minimize anesthesia risks.
Additional Related Services: During spay/neuter or dental appointments, additional services like pain medication, antibiotics, or e-collars may be offered or required for an additional fee. They may also offer deworming treatments.
TCAP Hurst stands out in the North Texas veterinary landscape for several key features and its impactful mission:
Affordable, High-Quality Care: The most significant highlight is their commitment to providing high-quality veterinary services at significantly lower costs than traditional clinics. This makes essential procedures like spay/neuter and vaccinations accessible to a wider range of pet owners, aligning with their mission to end pet overpopulation.
Dedicated Mission to Reduce Pet Overpopulation: TCAP's core focus on sterilizations directly contributes to reducing the number of homeless animals and euthanasia rates in local shelters, a mission proudly supported by many community members and foster organizations.
Compassionate and Efficient Staff: Despite being a high-volume clinic, numerous reviews praise the staff for being "friendly," "kind," "efficient," and treating pets "like family." This balance of efficiency and compassion is highly valued by clients.
Streamlined Processes: While there can be waits for walk-in services, TCAP has implemented systems like texting clients when it's their turn to come into the building, improving the client experience. For spay/neuter, a structured drop-off and pick-up process ensures smooth operations.
Clear Communication: Clients appreciate the clear instructions provided for post-operative care, ensuring pets heal quickly and effectively, as noted in a review about a neutered dog. Hourly updates during dental procedures have also been reported from other TCAP locations, suggesting a commitment to keeping owners informed.
Positive Surgical Outcomes: Reviews specifically highlight successful spay/neuter surgeries with "small and neat" incisions and quick healing times, indicating competent veterinary work.
Community Impact: By providing accessible and affordable services, TCAP empowers more pet owners to care for their animals responsibly, benefiting the entire community's animal welfare.
Remodeled Facility: Recent improvements to the Hurst facility (as noted in one review) have enhanced the building and helped manage lines more efficiently, contributing to a better overall experience.

Texas Coalition for Animal Protection | TCAP Hurst Reviews
I had my dog, Charlie Bob, neutered at the Hurst location on April 14, 2025. Charlie Bob did great! His incision was small and neat. He healed quickly and is totally back to his playful and loving self. The staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for a job well done. I will definitely continue to use your facilities for my pups care. Thank you again!God Bless,Diane
May 06, 2025 · Diane EwersJust picked up our sweet Aussie-doodle foster from TCAP after her spay—and I couldn’t be more impressed. The staff were kind, efficient, and treated her like family. Their mission to reduce pet overpopulation is one we proudly support, and thanks to their work, this little lady is one step closer to finding her forever home.
Apr 12, 2025 · Jon McConathy (#TapeDeckSoul)I brought my dog in to be neutered, and although it was incredibly busy, the line moved quickly thanks to how well everything was organized. The staff was kind, helpful, and efficient. The facility was clean, and the entire process ran smoothly from start to finish. After the procedure, they called to let me know everything went well, and I was even able to pick up my dog an hour and a half earlier than originally planned—which was a huge help with my work schedule. They also provided clear instructions and all the necessary supplies for post-op care on the way out. Overall, it was a very positive experience.
Jul 05, 2025 · V MGrateful for the affordable, caring services provided! PSA to all pet parents: open your boxes of medication before taking them home! I opened the little cardboard box of Onsior taped to my cat's discharge paperwork, ready to give her the first dose, and the cardboard box was empty 🙃 Thankfully my cat doesn't seem distressed, but it would give me peace of mind to know her post-spay pain was being treated as planned (and paid for). Moral of the story, this is a high-volume clinic, and you have to be cautious and double-check everything yourself.
Mar 29, 2025 · Sienna RiehleI've taken all of our fur babies for vaccinations, spayed and neutered for our feline and canine. I have always had a great experience with TCAP! I highly recommend them to my friends and family members!
