Choosing Sumner Veterinary Hospital means choosing a place that is as much a partner in your pet's life as it is a medical facility. The numerous glowing reviews from long-term clients are a testament to the hospital’s excellence. One long-time client highlighted their unwavering trust in the hospital, even for their pets' regular check-ups, stating, "I always make my appointments with the staff here, even for regular check ups." This client's experiences with their senior cat and two boxers, including one with a spinal condition and another with a broken blood vessel in his ear, speak to the staff's professionalism, compassion, and ability to handle both routine and serious health issues. The client's appreciation for the "warm hospitality" and "employees who care about the patients" underscores the hospital's commitment to creating a positive environment.
However, an honest look at the hospital must also include all client experiences, as this provides a full picture for prospective clients. A different reviewer shared a heartbreaking and complex account of their dog's emergency care after being attacked. They expressed frustration with what they perceived as a lack of urgency until payment was established and noted communication issues later on. The client felt that their dog's deteriorating condition could have been prevented and, in the end, had to make the difficult decision to put their dog down. This review points to the potential challenges that can arise in high-stress, emergency situations, including financial pressures and communication breakdowns, which can unfortunately lead to negative outcomes and emotional distress for the pet owner. While this review presents a different perspective, it's a reminder that every emergency situation is unique and can be emotionally and financially demanding.
In conclusion, the decision to choose Sumner Veterinary Hospital should be based on a thorough understanding of their services and a consideration of all available feedback. Their extensive offerings, 24/7 emergency availability, and the multitude of long-term clients who praise their compassionate care and effective treatments are strong indicators of a quality practice. For pet owners in Washington who value convenience, a wide range of services, and a team that is genuinely invested in the well-being of their pets, Sumner Veterinary Hospital is a strong contender for a trusted partnership in pet health.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been going To Sumner animal Hospital for many years. Our senior Cat of 17 years has had three anal gland abscess, where he had to be put under and properly cleaned up. A month ago we had to put our eight-year-old boxer, Casper, down due to a horrible spine condition. And finally, our other boxer had broken a blood vessel in his ear, causing an aural hematoma. He Was sedated, cleaned up, then sent on his way. Of all the times we have been there, we have been greeted with warm hospitality, employees who care about the patients, and fun humor with the doctors. I will always recommend Sumner animal Hospital to friends and families. Our dogs and cats do not have a primary care vet. I always make my appointments with the staff here, even for regular check ups. Pictured is Casper, Bruiser, and Smokey.
July 18 · Heather LaurenThis a very personal review that I been putting off since 2022 because I had to have a clear mind before I had the strength to type this review. I brought my boy Fievel to this ER after he was attacked by a big dog, by the time we arrive to this place Fievel was falling unconscious and it was a very desperate situation. The staff was friendly and welcoming at first, but as I nurse myself I noticed that they were not putting a sense of urgency to the situation of my dog until the payment for his care was established, Fievel needed his intestine repaired as they were herniated. The whole process was taking longer than it could be deemed safe, the longer the response took, would determine how much of the intestine could be save as the longer it took the more intestine tissue would die off. I was focused on Fievel well-being that I was not giving any push back I just wanted them to hurry and start operating, we set the payment, and I was told to go home. Next day I got in contact with the Vet which they said the surgery was a success I went to visit Fievel next day his tail was waging he was happy to see me of course and as expect after surgery he was in pain but seemed I did not have nothing to worry about. On the 2nd day I picked up Fievel to take him home, he was happy but still in pain as expect during the recovery process, he had a tube for drainage which was not secreting anything that I could visibly see, on the 5th day after the surgery I took him back to the vet to remove the drainage and that day he was very happy his tongue was out and his personality was coming through which I was thrilled about. I followed all vet instructions, Fievel had a normal BM he did not struggle no blood in the stool everything seemed fine, next day in the morning Fievel woke up with a small bump around the abdomen area, I immediately took him back to them, they seemed not concerned about it and sent me back home with him and told me to monitor him. I went back to work and I kept getting pictures from my niece telling me his bump was getting bigger, I started using the text service and they were not getting back to me so I called them they said that they were not concern, and that at the moment they were only taking emergencies cause they were full, so I said so at what point you determine that this is an emergency?, and from there on I did not received any replies from them, so I proceeded to call them to which I did not get an answer or call back, I decided to go there and by the time I got there the bump has tripled in size, At this time Fievel was still alert but was not looking good, They took him back, and I was discussing with the Vet and I stated that I believe this was something that had to do with the drainage as I never saw anything draining out and after it was remove something must to happen, they did not want to take any responsibility and wanted to charge me another 5g to operate again, at this point I already had paid 7g and I could not afford this other charge, and I was feeling the pressure because at this point Fievel was septic and has lose consciousness. With the sadness in my heart, I had to put my little buddy down and it's a pain that still haunting me till this day. I believe this could have been prevented and they should have taken responsibility and for this I cannot with the goodness of my heart recommend this place. ( About the pictures and video, first two shows when Fievel was a puppy and how he looked before the surgery, the 3rd picture to the 7th picture shows the bump formed after the removal of the tubing and ny attempt of contact them using the texting service number provided to me to contact them for follow ups after the procedure which also shows they ever replied back to me, 8th pic through 10th shows next day after the surgery when I went to visit him and the final video shows how happy Fievel was looking while we were at the Sumner Veterinary Hospital the day right before he was about to get the drainage tube removed )
April 20 · Freddie Vazquez AntongiorgiExcellent care provided by the entire office. My dog was ill on a Sunday morning, and they were able to get me in quite quickly. Vet Tech was super friendly and kind to my pup. Vet was very thorough.
June 15 · Kevin VickeryWe have tried all the local vets and groomers in our town and started to look into others for quality. We all have been there hoping to get what you pay for with your pet's care. We happily drive 45 minutes in non-rush hour traffic for Sumner Vetrinary Hospital. DR. K is very kind and clearly communicates what is going on with your dog or it's needs. The office staff are very helpful and caring. The Groomers are the best in the state! I won't tell you our groomer, Rob's name just because he is the best and I do not want him to get so busy I can't get our two fur babies and one unicorn booked with him. But every time he grooms our babies I try to let the whole place know he deserves a raise and a two week vacation. Sumner Vet is worth the money, worth the drive, and worth it your furbabies.
March 02 · Leah FerrandoDr. K made the experience very smooth. He was thorough in his explanation of what was going on with my husky’s teeth and what to expect from the procedure. He followed up personally with how my pup was doing and answered any questions I had with patience. He even sent an email recommending some products I could use to avoid tartar buildup on my dogs teeth.
