I don't know what has happened here! This used to be a great vet. I had an appointment for MONTHS to have my puppies fixed. The receptionist called me at work and demanded that I complete an unrequired vaccination before they could preform the operation. This is not required by law. I was told it was the Dr.s policy. I explained I had decided not to do this vaccination as is allowed by law. I was treated rudely by this person who kept talking over me and wouldn't listen to what I was asking. Finally I asked to have the Dr. call me. I came home from work and got a email with my puppies records and telling me she had cancelled my appointment! Unacceptable! I called back and asked again to have the vet call me as I have questions about what was happening. Three days later, nothing. Completely unprofessional! I do not recommend this business to anyone. To be fair, I'm not even sure the Dr. is aware what has happened and he was always good to all 4 of the animals my family has brought there. Unfortunately, due to lack of attention and lack of service you have lost 3 customers due to this mishandling. I hope the front desk woman who seemed very happy with herself is happy. I hope her employer is too. - Jennifer Hammack

The location's ease of access helps ensure that New Hampshire pet owners can receive timely veterinary care without enduring long, complicated commutes, integrating seamlessly into the daily lives of local families.

Services Offered

Queen City Animal Hospital, as a general practice veterinary facility, typically offers a comprehensive range of services designed to cover the full spectrum of pet health needs, from preventive care to advanced diagnostics and treatment. Based on common veterinary practices and insights from reviews, their services likely include:

  • Preventative Medicine and Wellness Care: This forms the core of their services, encompassing routine annual or semi-annual physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols (including legally required rabies vaccinations and other core/non-core vaccines like distemper, parvovirus for dogs; FVRCP, FeLV for cats), and comprehensive parasite control programs (fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites).

  • Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries, they would utilize in-house laboratory equipment for rapid blood tests (CBC, chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal examinations. Diagnostic imaging services such as digital X-rays would also be available for evaluating skeletal structures, internal organs, and detecting foreign bodies.

  • Surgical Procedures: Queen City Animal Hospital performs various soft tissue surgeries, including routine spays and neuters. Other common surgical interventions might include lump removals, wound repairs, and certain emergency surgeries. Anesthesia monitoring and pain management are integral parts of their surgical protocols.

  • Dental Care: Comprehensive dental health services are crucial for overall pet well-being. This would include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing under anesthesia), dental X-rays to assess tooth roots and jawbones, and extractions of diseased or damaged teeth.

  • Treatment for Illness and Injury: Providing care for pets that are unwell or have sustained injuries, involving thorough examinations, medication prescriptions, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.

  • Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation and registration services, which provide a permanent form of identification crucial for reuniting lost pets with their owners.

  • Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for pets at various life stages, managing weight, and addressing specific dietary needs or allergies with prescription or therapeutic foods.

Features / Highlights

Based on client feedback, Queen City Animal Hospital exhibits several distinct features and highlights that shape the experience for New Hampshire pet owners. It's important to note that, as with any business, individual experiences can vary, and both positive and negative aspects are part of the public perception.

  • Commitment to Excellent Animal Care: Multiple positive reviews highlight the staff's dedication to "excellent animal care" and the professionalism and kindness of the team. This suggests a strong underlying commitment to the well-being of the animals they serve.

  • Reasonable Prices: A significant highlight for pet owners is the mention of "reasonable prices." This indicates that Queen City Animal Hospital strives to make quality veterinary care accessible, which is a vital consideration for many families in New Hampshire.

  • Professional and Kind Staff: Clients commend the staff for being "professional and kind," creating a welcoming environment. This is crucial for both pets, who may be anxious during visits, and their owners, who seek reassurance and support.

  • Well-Run, Clean, and Welcoming Office: A clean and well-organized facility contributes to a positive experience. The description of the office as "well run, always clean, and welcoming" indicates attention to detail in creating a comfortable environment.

  • Incredible Sensitivity in Difficult Times: A particularly strong highlight is the hospital's handling of end-of-life care. The staff and doctor are praised for handling the difficult process of putting a pet down with "incredible sensitivity," marking them as an "excellent and caring practice" in such emotional moments.

  • Long-Standing Family Trust: Some reviews indicate a history of families bringing their pets to Queen City Animal Hospital for "years," demonstrating a foundation of trust and continuity of care within the local community.

However, it is equally important to acknowledge and address feedback that reflects challenges in customer service, specifically concerning communication and policy enforcement. One review details a negative experience involving a perceived "unrequired vaccination" demand, rude treatment by reception staff, and an appointment cancellation without direct veterinary consultation or explanation. This highlights the critical importance of clear, consistent communication regarding clinic policies and a customer-centric approach, especially when dealing with sensitive pet health decisions. It suggests that while the veterinary care itself may be highly regarded, challenges in administrative interactions can significantly impact client satisfaction and trust.
