Routine Veterinary Care: This includes essential wellness exams, vaccinations tailored to your pet's needs, and preventative care strategies to keep your pet healthy from puppy/kittenhood through their senior years.
Surgical Procedures: The hospital performs various surgical procedures. While the exact scope of surgeries performed should be confirmed directly with the hospital, their capability for surgical intervention is a key service.
Internal Medicine and Diagnostics: For pets with complex or undiagnosed conditions, they provide diagnostic services to identify and treat internal illnesses. This would typically involve blood tests, urinalysis, and potentially imaging.
Senior Pet Care: They have a notable strength in caring for senior pets with complex health issues, such as heart conditions, as praised by a client with a 17-year-old dog. Their compassionate and conservative approach is particularly valuable for older animals where quality of life is paramount.
Emergency and Urgent Care: While not a 24/7 emergency hospital, they strive to accommodate urgent cases during office hours. One review highlighted their ability to get a dog in quickly for a painful anal gland issue, providing prompt and effective relief.
Pain Management: As evidenced by their care for a senior dog with heart issues, they effectively manage pain, ensuring comfort and improving the quality of life for their patients.
Prescription Medications: They provide necessary prescription medications, with transparency on costs for various treatments.

Outstanding Compassion and Understanding: Without a doubt, the most frequently praised aspect is the team's genuine empathy. Clients feel that their pets are not just "a number." As one reviewer with a senior dog stated, "She was understanding, Compassionate and didn't treat you like a number. Her staff is wonderful too. It's a win win." This humane approach extends to both the animal and the worried owner.
Dr. Dragonslayer's Professionalism and Conservative Approach: Dr. Dragonslayer (as referred to by a client) is highly lauded for being "professional, compassionate and conservative." This means she focuses on effective, necessary treatments without pushing "pricey, extra treatment," which is a huge relief for many pet owners. Her mindfulness of "quality of life for both the pet and owner" is a rare and highly valued trait.
Remarkable Affordability: A significant highlight is their highly competitive and often "unbelievably" low prices compared to other vets. One client shared a dramatic experience of a second opinion visit where Quaker Animal Hospital quoted "about 8 times" less than a previous vet, demonstrating their commitment to accessible care. "Price is great and care is superb," notes another.
Superb Care and Positive Outcomes: Despite the conservative approach to pricing, the quality of care is never compromised. Pets are described as being "treated so well," and experiencing great outcomes, such as a dog recovering quickly from severe pain.
High Client Loyalty and Referrals: Many clients are so impressed that they are "already referring her" and "travel about 2 hours to get to her now" after moving. This level of dedication from clients speaks volumes about the trust and satisfaction they inspire.

Apr 09, 2025 · Shelly SmithBest Vet hospital ever!! Price is great and care is superb. Dr. Dragonslayer is professional, compassionate and conservative. She's not one to recommend pricey, extra treatment. She's mindful of quality of life for both the pet and owner. We travel about 2 hours to get to her now. After we moved and found a new vet who wanted to charge about 8 times what Dr Dragonslayer quoted on second opinion visit, we decided to stay with her. We're so glad we did.
