As pet owners across New Hampshire, we all share the desire to provide the best possible care for our beloved animal companions. From routine check-ups to unexpected health concerns, having access to reliable and compassionate veterinary services is a top priority. When searching for a veterinary provider, it's natural to consider various factors, including location, services offered, and, crucially, the experiences of other local pet parents. This article aims to provide an informative overview of Banfield Pet Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire, to help you make an informed decision for your furry family members.
Banfield Pet Hospital is a nationwide network of veterinary clinics, with a presence in many communities, including Manchester, New Hampshire. These hospitals typically focus on providing comprehensive preventive care through their Optimum Wellness Plans®, designed to make routine veterinary services more accessible and affordable. Their approach often emphasizes regular wellness exams, vaccinations, and early detection of potential health issues. While Banfield aims to offer a broad range of services, it's important for pet owners to understand that the experience can sometimes differ from that of smaller, independently owned practices. Their model is built around a standardized set of protocols and services across their locations. For New Hampshire pet owners, Banfield Pet Hospital in Manchester offers a familiar brand of veterinary care, often appealing to those looking for a structured approach to pet health management, particularly for vaccinations and routine check-ups, which can be covered under their wellness plans. However, some pet owners find that the corporate structure can sometimes lead to communication challenges or a less personalized experience compared to smaller local clinics.

When considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Manchester, several aspects frequently stand out, both positively and as areas for consideration based on public feedback:
- Optimum Wellness Plans®: A key feature of Banfield is their preventive care plans. For some New Hampshire pet owners, these plans offer a structured way to manage the costs of routine wellness exams, vaccinations, and other basic services.
- Convenient Location: Being situated at 777 S Willow St, often within or very close to a PetSmart store, provides ease of access for many in Manchester and the surrounding areas, making it convenient to combine vet visits with other errands.
- Standardized Care: As part of a larger network, Banfield locations generally adhere to standardized protocols and procedures, which can offer a consistent level of care across different visits or if you need to visit another Banfield location.
- Availability of Appointments: Some clients have noted issues with scheduling and cancellations, particularly for procedures like dental extractions, leading to significant delays. One customer reported a last-minute cancellation for a scheduled surgery, resulting in a two-month wait for rescheduling.
- Customer Service and Communication: Feedback from some customers indicates concerns regarding communication and professionalism. One detailed review described multiple issues with appointment confirmation calls, perceived rudeness from reception staff, and being hung up on when trying to resolve a cancellation error. This suggests a potential for inconsistent client experience.
- Approach to Care and Cost: Some reviews express concerns about what is perceived as a push for unnecessary tests or procedures, particularly when clients are on wellness plans, leading to unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. There are also mentions of feeling "nickel and dimed" despite being on a plan, and some find their prices for non-plan services to be higher than private clinics.
- Pet Handling and Stress: While not universal, some comments suggest that "drop-off appointments," where pets are left for extended periods, can be stressful for certain animals, with one reviewer noting, "not every dog does well sitting in a crate for 8 hours."

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
Very inconsiderate. I scheduled my dogs teeth extractions a month or so ago via call, her appointment was confirmed Monday May 19th and on Thursday May 21st I received a call less than 24hrs before her appointment that it was cancelled. I took off time for my dog to help her recover and that time is now wasted in less than 24hrs. I’ve been going to this location since she was a puppy and haven’t had an issue until now. The next available day that would work with my schedule would be in July two months later. While I understand they cannot see other locations schedules and schedule for other locations, I do wish they had called around so this time is not wasted for my dog or me.This is why I have given 1 star.
May 23, 2025 · Kay GThis is the most unprofessional and unpleasant veterinary office I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with.I scheduled a vet appt on Friday around 2pm for Monday afternoon at 3:30pm. I indicated at 3 different selections to text me for communication. At 9:15am Sat morning while I am driving I get a call from Banfield and I don't answer as I'm driving, they leave a voicemail. This is my FIRST and ONLY call. About 10 mins later I get a text with a confirmation request for my appt. As I had just arrived at my location I shoot off the confirmation text and go about my errands. About an hour later I listen to the voicemail left for me by Banfield saying they had cancelled my appt for failing to confirm my appt. Thinking this was an error I immediately call and ask for my appt to be rescheduled since they incorrectly cancelled my appt. The reception told me I was wasting everyone's time since I didn't follow their protocol for confirming appts. I told her I responded via text and that they had already technically cancelled my appt after ONE failed call. She told me that wasn't correct they had called Friday at NOON (before I scheduled my appt) and this was the 3rd attempt ar confirmation so I was rightly cancelled. I tried to explain that I never received a call before the cancellation voicemail and she told me to stop talking. That if I shut up she could explain the protocol again. I told her not to speak to me that way, she wasn't listening when I said I never received two calls. She told me to shut up again or she would hang up because I wasn't listening. I asked to speak with a manager and she hung up on me. I tried calling back 6x and 2x I got the woman again and she hung up on me. I left a voicemail requesting a call back and have gotten no response. My dog probably has kennel cough, I was trying to get him into a non emergency vet for an appt before I could get him into his normal vets office (next available appt there is in 2 weeks). Thankfully I don't need to relay on this place for veterinary care but I'd suggest going literally anywhere else. I ended up at an Urgent vet and they told me they have had NUMEROUS patients complain about the unprofessional behavior at Banfield and they recommended ppl avoid that office.
Apr 13, 2025 · KatrinaMy husband and I bought our 18 year old cat to the Manchester NH Banfield last night to be euthanized due to old age and concerns we had about her comfort. The care and kindness we received was much appreciated. The doctor assessed her and put our minds at ease that we were making the right choice in putting her to sleep during a better day under her and our conditions rather than waiting for a traumatic illness or injury. They were so compassionate and allowed us as little or more time as we needed, as well as the choice to be present or not. We chose to be present and Liberty’s transition was a very peaceful one. We appreciate the care, the process and the fair price for the outstanding service we received. We are heartbroken today, but are comforted with the way she passed so peacefully. Thank you!
Feb 12, 2025 · anne FitzgeraldEmma has been with Banfield since she was 8 weeks old born Feb 13 2009She passed away Thursday 4 18 2024 at 11 pm I miss her so much! I believe if she didn't have this pet insurance I wouldn't of been able to keep her alive for 15 years she had a heart murmur among other issues that come out while aging but they did an amazing job helping me keep her alive longer.Yes if and when I decide to get another pet I will definitely be calling Banfield again.Thank the Manchester and Nashua (where she started out) team for helping me with her
