What is worth choosing
Choosing Rockland Veterinary Care - Pomona is a consideration that involves weighing its many strengths against some of the potential challenges highlighted in customer feedback. On the one hand, a glowing review from a long-time client praises the clinic as "wonderful." They specifically commend Dr. Puzio as an "extraordinary Veterinarian," noting his patience and ability to answer all of their questions with understanding. The review also gives a "special shout out to Tracy" for being consistently kind, patient, and helpful with paperwork. This feedback points to a practice that genuinely treats pets "with kindness and patience" and makes a real effort to connect with and support their human clients, making it a highly recommended choice for many.
However, it is equally important to acknowledge the negative experiences that some clients have reported. One review expresses consistent frustration and disappointment over a two-year period, citing rude front desk staff, a severe lack of communication, and a concerning disconnect between the veterinarians. This client felt that the practice defaulted to prescribing medications without fully investigating the underlying issues and did not provide clear treatment plans. They also noted a "serious lack of compassion" for their anxious dog, being told to simply medicate and muzzle the animal rather than use gentle handling techniques. This feedback directly contradicts the positive review and the clinic’s stated "Fear Free" mission, highlighting a potential inconsistency in patient and client experience.
Ultimately, what is worth choosing is a place that aligns with your specific needs and priorities. Rockland Veterinary Care - Pomona offers an impressive list of services, from preventative care to complex orthopedic surgeries, and is equipped to handle many medical issues in-house. Its commitment to accessibility and the presence of dedicated, caring staff members, as highlighted in the positive reviews, are significant advantages. However, it is essential for pet owners, especially those with anxious animals, to discuss their concerns with the staff and veterinarians to ensure their specific needs and expectations can be met. This approach can help determine if the clinic, with its blend of high-level medical care and a potentially variable client experience, is the right fit for your cherished companion.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have been taking my dog, Maisie May, to Rockland Veterinary Care in Pomona for about two years, since she was born . I really don’t know why I haven’t left a review sooner. Everyone in that office is wonderful! They treat Maisie May, and her dog mom and dad, with kindness and patience during each and every visit. Dr. Puzio is an extraordinary Veterinarian. He answers each and every question that I have written down in my book. Believe me when I tell you, I always have a lot of questions. He does so with patience and understanding. He is a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. I’d like to give a special shout out to Tracy. She always goes above and beyond to be helpful. She is kind and patient and is always willing to help with paperwork. She is awesome! Thank you EVERYONE for taking such good care of Maisie May. We really appreciate it. I highly recommend taking your pet to Rockland Veterinary Care in Pomona.
March 21 · Marie MiklosWe have been taking our dog to this veterinary hospital for 2 years, and unfortunately, our experience has been consistently frustrating and disappointing. The front desk staff is consistently rude and unhelpful, setting a poor tone from the moment we walk in. Communication is severely lacking—calls are rarely returned, and we’ve never received a clear or cohesive treatment plan. Instead of thoughtfully investigating our dog's issues, the default seems to be prescribing medications without a full understanding of the underlying problem. What’s even more troubling is the disconnect between the veterinarians themselves. One will recommend one approach, while another suggests something entirely different, leaving us—pet owners without vet training—confused and forced to make decisions without proper guidance. Their response is often, “We can do that if you want to,” but this isn’t about what we want. It’s about being appropriately advised on what’s in the best interest of my dog by a trained professional. There is a serious lack of compassion, communication, and patient-centered care. No effort is made to comfort our anxious dog. We’ve been told to simply medicate and muzzle her before coming in—that’s their version of "handling" an anxious animal. It feels cold and dismissive, not to mention makes our dog that much more anxious. The one bright spot in this practice is the kind and caring male vet tech (with dyed hair). He takes the time to comfort our dog, draws her blood with ease, and genuinely engages with us and our dog. His compassion stands in stark contrast to the rest of the staff.Sadly, we will be seeking care elsewhere. Our dog deserves better care.
August 06 · Karen KennedyWe love taking our fur baby Moira to Rockland Veterinary’s Pomona office. Dr Puzio and his staff are very friendly and professional. As a pet parent it’s not easy understanding what is going on with your pet, as such it’s very comforting to know that you have a knowledgeable and reliable team you can count on. That’s the kind of service you receive at Rockland Veterinary!!!
April 03 · Diomaris FilpoDr Puzio and staff are just great. Confident and comforting. Nancy Spungen approves this review!
June 03 · Mike L. ScottThis review is not meant to bash this Veterinarian hospital but more as a warning/advisement. on June 2nd Monday afternoon around 5pm I had a scary incident with one of my own and needed to be seen immediately, I'm very local to this hospital and have been here before, I came in and informed the staff that I had an emergency and needed to be seen but at no fault to the staff they told me that there was no vet tech in the building and told me to go to the emergency hospital on 59. I didn't argue or screamed with the staff but I did leave very disappointed. The emergency hospital VEG ER for pets on route 59 Nanuet is a 12 minute drive from this hospital. My cat in this instance did not have 12 minutes. I made it there in 5 minutes. When it mercilessly comes down to minutes and seconds for the life of your little ones it 100% matters which hospital you go to, I'm not saying to not go to this hospital but I will share my experience, so you can make a very informed decision when you have to decide in seconds which hospital you travel to.Like I said before I have been to this hospital previously and my general experience has been positive. I can't tell you why or what happened that day but please use this review as a pillar in your decision when and if you have an emergency.
