This comprehensive article aims to provide New York residents with an in-depth look at what makes VEG Nanuet an unparalleled choice for their beloved pets when critical care is needed.
Traditional emergency vet visits often involve anxious waits in a lobby, separation from your pet, and uncertainty about their treatment. VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) was founded on a radically different philosophy, designed to alleviate this stress for both pets and their human companions. Their mission is clear: to provide a transparent, inclusive, and immediately responsive emergency veterinary experience. The heartfelt testimonials from clients vividly illustrate how this approach makes a profound difference during challenging times, transforming a potentially traumatic event into one filled with support and confidence.
From sudden injuries and acute illnesses to complex emergency surgeries, a dedicated emergency veterinary hospital serves as an indispensable lifeline for pets and their families. We will delve into the comprehensive services offered by VEG Nanuet, highlight the unique features that set them apart from conventional emergency clinics, and articulate precisely why this hospital is ideally suited for local residents seeking unparalleled and empathetic emergency veterinary care in the Nanuet region of New York, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
VEG ER for Pets is conveniently located at 123 NY-59, Nanuet, NY 10954, USA. This strategic address places the emergency veterinary hospital on a major and easily accessible route in Nanuet, ensuring excellent visibility and straightforward navigation for pet owners across Rockland County and beyond. NY-59 is a key state highway, making the facility remarkably easy to find and reach from various directions, including neighboring towns such as Bardonia, Chestnut Ridge, Spring Valley, and West Nyack.
The accessibility of an emergency veterinary clinic is of utmost importance for New York pet owners, where every minute can count in a critical situation. VEG Nanuet's location within a shopping center near the intersection of Route 59 and 1st Street offers ample parking, which is a significant convenience when arriving with a distressed pet. The hospital's clear entrance, facing the parking lot, and the offer for a "VEGgie" (staff member) to meet you at the door if assistance is needed, further enhance the ease of access. More critically, VEG operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, with no appointment needed. This "walk-in emergency visit" policy, where care "starts the moment you walk in the door," is a fundamental aspect of their accessibility, ensuring that pets in need receive immediate attention without delay, a feature particularly highlighted and appreciated by a grateful client whose guinea pig required urgent care when other vets turned them away.

- Open Floor Plan: VEG clinics feature an "open floor plan," allowing pet owners to "see everything that's happening" and participate in their pet's care, further enhancing transparency and reducing anxiety.
- Communication Excellence: Staff "kept in communication with us while we waited" during busy periods and are praised for being "so honest about whether or not our pets must be seen."
- Stress-Reducing Environment: The VEG approach aims to "make a scary situation less stressful" by having doctors "sit on the floor with your pet, or wherever they're most comfortable."
- Highly Impactful Service: Clients express immense gratitude, stating, "You have a huge impact on many families and pets," and "This is the only place I will recommend for other fur families."
- Experienced and Dedicated Staff: Reviews emphasize the team's expertise and dedication, noting that they treat "your pets like family" and "go above and beyond."

VEG ER for Pets Reviews
We are incredibly grateful to the entire care team at VEG Nanuet. Our pup required emergency surgery, and the doctors, nurses, and staff were well-prepared, compassionate, and confident in their ability to provide the care he needed. They allowed us to stay overnight with him as he recovered and checked on him regularly, even while attending to several other STAT patients. We appreciate their dedication, compassion, and expertise.
Jun 30, 2025 · Annmarie LentiniThank you for providing my family with such a caring experience. I called over 5 vets and animal hospitals, and I couldn't find one that would take my Ginuea Pig for a walk in emergency visit. This is the only place that took us. From the phone call to the moment I walked in the door- every single team member was caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Although the wait time was a little long (as expected), they kept in communication with us while we waited. To all the staff, please continue to do what you do. You have a huge impact on many families and pets. This is the only place I will recommend for other fur families. Unfortunately, my piggy is no longer with us, but I'm grateful that she was treated with care in her time of need. Thank you to every staff member who keeps this office going.
Jun 29, 2025 · Samantha CardenFrom the moment I brought my fur baby into the hospital we received EXCELLENT care from everyone. Front desk, vets, vet assistants everyone was thorough, attentive, kind, and professional. They gave my puppy the best emergency care and explained everything in detail to reassure me. Best experience I’ve had with an emergency pet hospital ever. I’m so grateful for the care they gave my puppy she is herself again and healthy I cannot say thank you enough to the whole place and each staff member. Highly recommend for any pet emergency.
May 09, 2025 · Lauren KonopkaI was sent here with my Pomeranian after visiting a clinic that unfortunately could not help her further as something (big pieces of chicken, I now know) was lodged in her esophagus. I was very afraid given the fact that she was also diagnosed with a heart murmur this night and told she would be high risk for general anesthesia. Although it may sound like a silly issue due to some chicken, I was afraid to lose my girl.I appreciated all the efforts of the previous emergency department and grateful they refereed us to you guys, but the bedside manner is unmatched. I don’t remember everyone’s name that helped and I apologize for that! But all of you were so sweet, efficient, and empathetic. All my questions and concerns were answered. The doctor (Dr. Morrissey I believe as per the text I received) was a sweetheart and very informative. She explained everything thoroughly and gave me time to translate it to my Spanish speaking father. Again something silly, but you’d be surprised how many business become frustrated. This shows such a high regard to cultural competency! The two techs who stayed with Bella when I left were wonderful and treated her with so much love that my fears became minimal and I knew she was in great hands. As weird as this might be to say, godforbid the outcome was different and it were a more severe situation, I think I would give this same review. Overall seeing how you guys treated me, my father, and my dog, I can see genuine passion for the work you do. Thank you so much!
Feb 26, 2025 · Hennesy LoraIt’s hard to believe that a huge chain of animal urgent care facilities could be this caring, compassionate, dedicated and positive. I have had two separate experiences in the last eight weeks with the V.E.G in Nanuet. As someone who has worked in non-profit dog rescue for the past thirteen years, I feel like I have some perspective. The vet techs are supremely knowledgeable, capable , professional and thorough. They maximize the time for the DVMs so your pet gets all the necessary attention and treatment and I imagine their model serves to help them treat the greatest number of patients who are usually in maximum distress. That is so crucial when the mission is to handle emergencies. And, not for nothing, their charged run to the lower side of the other animal hospitals in the area. VEG is not trying to upsell you anything. They are there to save your pets life and otherwise get them through a health crisis and on the way back out the door with your best friend. I would be remiss if I did not include the receptionists who clearly function as much more than receptionists. They are engaged in the triage of pets as you come in and really excel at putting pet parent at ease and instilling confidence in the process. Thanks again, to VEG Nanuet for helping my foster dog, Cyrus today and working with the board members of our rescue to get him the care he desperately needed. It is so encouraging to see an enterprise that so clearly knows what the successful mission looks like.Love,Pamela and Cyrus
