In San Antonio, Texas, the San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic stands as a dedicated resource providing accessible and affordable services focused on these crucial aspects of pet wellness. This article aims to offer a clear, engaging, and informative overview of the San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic, helping local Texans understand its mission, services, and suitability for their pet care needs.
San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic is located at 4922 S Zarzamora St, San Antonio, TX 78211, USA. This address places the clinic on the south side of San Antonio, making it a convenient option for residents in the southern parts of the city and surrounding areas. South Zarzamora Street is a well-known thoroughfare, which typically allows for straightforward navigation and accessibility. For pet owners residing in communities like Lackland City, Medina Base, or other areas in South San Antonio, this location offers an invaluable local resource for affordable veterinary services. Easy accessibility is particularly important for clinics that offer high-volume services like spay and neuter procedures, ensuring that more pets can receive essential care without extensive travel for their owners. The clinic's presence contributes significantly to the community's efforts in responsible pet ownership and population control.
San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic is a family-owned and operated wellness clinic focused on providing essential and affordable veterinary services. Their primary mission is to contribute to controlling pet overpopulation while ensuring pets remain healthy and happy. While their services are concentrated on core wellness and surgical procedures, they offer a vital range of care for dogs and cats. Based on available public information, their services primarily include:
- Spay/Neuter Surgery: This is a core service, providing high-quality, affordable sterilization procedures for both male and female dogs and cats. This helps prevent unwanted litters and contributes to the overall health of the pet by reducing the risk of certain cancers and behavioral issues.
- Vaccinations: Offering essential vaccinations to protect pets from common and preventable diseases. These are often available on a walk-in basis, making it convenient for pet owners to ensure their pets are up-to-date on their shots.
- Wellness Services: Beyond spay/neuter and vaccinations, the clinic also provides other general wellness services. These typically include routine check-ups and preventative care measures to support a pet's long-term health.
- Microchipping: Providing microchip implantation services to offer permanent identification for pets, significantly increasing the chances of reunion if a pet gets lost.
- Deworming and Flea Prevention: Offering treatments and preventative products to protect pets from internal and external parasites.
- Dental Cleaning: The clinic offers dental cleaning services, recognizing the importance of oral health for a pet's overall well-being. This is crucial for preventing gum disease and other dental issues.
- Post-Operative Instructions and Care: Providing clear guidance to pet owners on how to care for their pets after surgery to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery.
- Affordable Pricing: A key aspect of their model is providing these essential services at a low cost, making them accessible to a wider range of pet owners in the community.
It's important to note that clinics focused on high-volume spay/neuter and wellness services typically do not treat sick or injured animals beyond immediate post-operative concerns related to the procedures performed. For complex illnesses or injuries, they would likely refer to a full-service veterinary clinic.
The San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic has several features and highlights that are important for local Texas pet owners to consider:
- Commitment to Affordability: One of the most frequently highlighted aspects of this clinic is its low-cost services. Many clients express satisfaction with the affordable prices for spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, and other wellness care, making essential veterinary services accessible to a broader community. This helps pet owners adhere to preventative health schedules without significant financial burden.
- Family-Owned and Operated: The clinic emphasizes its family-owned and operated nature, aiming to create a welcoming environment where pets and their owners feel at home. This personal touch can contribute to a more comfortable experience for clients.
- Experienced Veterinarians and Staff: The clinic states they have highly trained and friendly veterinarians with over ten years of veterinary medicine experience, as well as experienced and caring veterinary technicians. This suggests a dedicated and knowledgeable team.
- Focus on Overpopulation Control: Their primary mission to help control the stray animal population through spay/neuter services is a significant community benefit, aligning with responsible pet ownership initiatives in Texas.
- Walk-in Vaccinations: The availability of vaccinations on a walk-in basis offers a high degree of convenience for pet owners, allowing them to quickly get essential shots for their pets without needing a prior appointment.
- Emphasis on Wellness: While specializing in spay/neuter, the clinic also provides broader wellness services, ensuring that pets receive comprehensive preventative care.
However, it is also important to acknowledge that some customer experiences can be varied, particularly in high-volume clinics. One detailed review highlighted a tragic outcome following a spay surgery, citing concerns about post-operative monitoring and communication. While such incidents are profoundly distressing for all involved, they can occur in any medical setting. Another positive review, however, showcases long-term satisfaction with consistent, affordable care for multiple pets, indicating many positive experiences. Potential clients should consider all available feedback and if possible, discuss any concerns directly with the clinic to understand their protocols for patient monitoring and post-operative care.

San Antonio Wellness Spay and Neuter Clinic Reviews
It has taken me a while to write this review, and if I could give zero stars, I would. Surgery was in Monday 10 2025.I brought my pet in for a spay surgery, expecting professional care. At 1:10 PM, I received a call about a medication that would need to be sent home, which I approved. I then asked if my pet was ready for pickup, only to be told that she hadn’t even had her surgery yet. By 1:27 PM, I received another call stating she would be ready in an hour and a half. I arrived around 2:30 PM to pick her up.When they brought her out, she seemed extremely out of it, but not knowing what was normal post-surgery, I trusted that this was expected. She could barely walk, and when I offered to carry her, they simply handed her to me without concern. I placed her in the car and drove home, about 25 minutes away.Once home, I kept a close eye on her. About an hour later, I noticed she was even less alert, and within moments of stepping away and returning, I found that she had passed. In a frantic state, I called the clinic, and they advised me to take her to the nearest emergency vet. With no emergency vet nearby, I rushed her to a local veterinary office, where they tried their best—but she was already gone.I called the clinic back seeking answers. They told me they would check her records and call me in 15 minutes. After waiting 35 minutes with no response, I called again and was placed on hold for another 10 minutes. Finally, I was told that her vitals were “fine” when she left and that she “walked out fine,” so they couldn’t say what happened between the clinic and home.My family is devastated. The lack of accountability and compassion from this clinic is unacceptable. Their dismissive attitude only adds to our pain. I will never recommend this place to anyone—if anything, I urge others to stay far away.
Mar 15, 2025 · Jennie GarciaMy baby boy blue has gotten everything done at this clinic from his puppy packs, neuter, all of his vaccines + tests & boosters and even his teeth cleaned! I’m always super happy with how affordable the prices are and my boy always comes out with a happy face and tail within minutes. I’ve had 3 other babies within everyone’s care there and it always goes smoothly each and every time. I absolutely love it here and I know my fur baby’s do to! *all of the babies were closely monitored at the time of their surgery’s and weren’t allowed out of my room until 7 days after*
Jan 23, 2023 · Sara AveryI am absolutely in love with this place! I have been trying to get my girl spayed for about 3 months and everywhere I called had insane wait times like 4-6 weeks out for appointments or were ridiculously expensive. The vet I usually go to wanted to charge me almost $600. I found this clinic by googling low cost spay/neuter clinics. It was far for me. Literally the other side of the city but when I started looking at prices and appointment availability I decided it was worth it. On Thursday 5/16/24 I went to their website to schedule her surgery, they had availability for FRIDAY 5/17/24! So I made the appointment and paid the $50 deposit. Drop off was between 7-7:30 am. I got there about 7:15 and there was a line of other people dropping off their pets as well. I actually got her checked in about 8 and then had to leave. About 1 pm I got a call asking if I would like them to trim her nails for an additional $12 which I agreed to because she needed it done. I arrived at 4:15 to pick her up (pick up is from 4-4:30) I went in the door that I dropped her off at and they told me to go back outside and go to the next door down. Again there were other people waiting for their pets so it was a short wait, literally probably about 15 minutes and the staff kept apologizing for the wait time. They get one dose of pain medicine as part of the surgery for the next day.My girl did vomit a small amount last night but only once and today she is eating and drinking normally. She slept a lot yesterday but today is already trying to be her normal self. I think we’re going to start going there for all of our preventative careThese are pictures of her and her mama this morning 🥰
May 18, 2024 · Shelly XI received pain medication for my feline but when it came time to give him his medicine I noticed it didn’t have any medication. Odd. Other than that the whole process was well organized and the prices were fair. I’d definitely go back again.
