What is worth choosing?
For Michigan pet owners, choosing St. Francis Animal Hospital means placing your pet in the hands of a team that is not only medically skilled but also profoundly compassionate. While a concerning review highlights a sad outcome for a rescued bird and a lack of communication, it is important to note that the positive reviews paint a powerful and consistent picture of the clinic’s overall quality and character. The ability to save a cat with a "very grim" prognosis and give it "9 wonderful years" is a testament to the life-changing care they provide. Dr. Marilyn's role in this is highlighted as a beacon of hope and expertise.
The positive reviews are incredibly compelling because they focus on the clinic's defining characteristic: their genuine care for animals. The story of the client who was thankful for the long, happy life they were granted with their cat, Terra, is a powerful endorsement that goes beyond simple medical effectiveness. It speaks to the trust and gratitude that the clinic has earned from its clients. This level of care, where the vet helps a client "nurse her back to good health," creates a bond that is deeply meaningful.
The fact that they are a full-service animal hospital, offering everything from routine check-ups to surgery and diagnostics, means that they can be a consistent and reliable partner throughout your pet's life. The convenience of having all these services in one location, coupled with the compassion of a staff that is committed to saving and improving animal lives, makes St. Francis Animal Hospital a truly special place. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We brought them a little sparrow hoping they’d be able to save her/him, and we called a few days later with just the response “the bird passed away” no reasoning, no diagnosis, no information. We drove over an hour , during rush hour pulling up mins before close, desperate. And we get no info very saddened by this
July 15 · Br00keVict0ryDr. Marilyn, Julie, and the rest of the staff are absolutely the best. Our kitten, Terra, had special needs. She was FeLV positive and, early on, the prognosis was very grim. Dr. Marilyn helped us nurse her back to good health and we ultimately were granted 9 wonderful years with her, which was almost unthinkable at the beginning. We will always be thankful and gracious for everything St. Francis did to give our girl a long, happy life.
January 27 · Philip GarofaloWe have been going to St. Francis for our pets for over 20 years. Dr. Marilyn and her staff, Julie, and Nancy are the best! We have the utmost faith in putting our animals in their care. They are kind and compassionate. I couldn't be more satisfied.
June 16 · Kerry GellesSt. Francis provides free avian rehabilitation and I can't thank them enough. I guess I can also say, the city of Saint Clair Shores thanks you too! The bird I brought in today was not far from kids play equipment at one of our city parks. The bird could not fly and he could barely walk. I couldn't bear to see him sit there and die a slow death and suffer in the hot sun. So, thank you Saint Francis for doing what you do!Today makes the third time I've brought this vet office a wild bird with a broken wing. Each and every time I call, without hesitation, this office always tells me to bring them in.It is very important for successful rehabilitation to take a bird in as soon as possible when dealing with a wing fracture. Depending on the type of break, the actual bone involved, the type of bird and the quality of treatment the bird receives, it is possible to fix a broken wing well enough for the bird to be released into the wild.A bird with a suspected broken wing should be handled with great care so as not to make any injury worse. I recommend, if possible, covering the bird with a towel to minimise stress and movement. Wrap the towel around the bird, holding the wings against the body. Many birds feel more comfortable if their feet are supported when possible. I cover the eyes until the bird is nice and calm. Always keep the beak and talons away from your face to avoid injury. Take to the vet as soon as you have the bird contained!
August 02 · Michigan DesignedWe found an injured pigeon in our front yard and then it later moved under my car. We decided to put it in a box to give it food and water until we could find a rehabilitate center for it. After a couple of calls and text we found St. Francis Animal Hospital and without hesitation they let us take the pigeon in to their hospital. The staff was super friendly and was able to confirm that it did have a broken wing. I feel so much relief knowing that the pigeon is going to be well taken care of. Thank you St. Francis Animal Hospital.
