VCA Duncan Manor Animal Hospital presents several notable features and highlights, as well as some aspects that prospective clients should be aware of, based on customer feedback and general information about VCA clinics.
- AAHA Accreditation: A significant highlight is that VCA Duncan Manor Animal Hospital is an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited hospital. This means they voluntarily undergo rigorous evaluations on over 900 standards of veterinary care, covering areas like patient care, diagnostics, pain management, and facility cleanliness. Being among only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor indicates a strong commitment to high-quality medical standards.
- Dedicated and Caring Vet Techs and Front Desk Team: Multiple reviews praise the "amazing" vet techs and the "truly kind experiences" with the "front desk team and several of the vet techs who clearly care deeply about the animals they serve." This consistent positive feedback highlights a compassionate and supportive immediate care team, which is crucial for both pets and their owners during visits.
- Comprehensive Services: As a full-service companion animal hospital, they offer a wide range of services from routine preventive care to advanced dental, surgical, and diagnostic capabilities, providing a one-stop solution for many pet health needs.
- CareClub® Wellness Plans: VCA offers CareClub plans, which are membership-based wellness programs designed to make preventive care more affordable and predictable by bundling services like unlimited exams, vaccinations, and diagnostic testing for a monthly fee. These plans often include discounts on other services.
- Emphasis on Client Education: VCA states a goal to "practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and with a special emphasis on client education," which is a positive feature for empowering pet owners.
However, some significant concerns have been raised by customers, which prospective clients should consider:
- Perceived "Money Grab" and Upselling: One customer expressed frustration that the clinic "treat your animals as a money grab at times, more than your loving pets," and noted that they "try way too hard to push their care plans and charge you for an exam, for something that has already been diagnosed or treated." Another reviewer mentioned a $1,000+ invoice for a "CareClub balance" without clear communication, leading to a collections letter.
- Billing and Communication Issues: The second review details a distressing experience with billing, where a large invoice was added to an account without email or app notification, despite the client's repeated requests for a written invoice and communication via email due to work constraints. This led to a collections letter and a BBB complaint, indicating a severe breakdown in their billing system and client communication.
- Reluctance to Authorize External Prescriptions: One review noted refusal to authorize medication refills through online pharmacies like Chewy, even for previously prescribed and successful treatments, suggesting a preference for in-clinic pharmacy sales over client convenience or cost savings.
These concerns highlight that while the medical and technical staff may be excellent, there can be significant challenges with VCA's corporate-level policies regarding billing, communication, and prescription authorization, which can impact the overall client experience.

The range of services, from essential wellness and vaccinations to advanced dental and surgical procedures, means that most of your pet's healthcare needs can be addressed at a single location.
What makes VCA Duncan Manor particularly suitable for locals, especially those who appreciate structured preventive care, are their CareClub wellness plans. VCA Duncan Manor Animal Hospital Reviews
Unfortunately they treat your animals as a money grab at times, more than your loving pets. Our Golden had a prescription for an allergy that VCA had previously treated him for that was successful, then reoccurred. We were hours away camping on an extended trip. They refused to authorize Chewy to mail the medication, even though it had already been previously prescribed. It appeared they wanted us to pay them, not Chewy, even though they would not mail the medication to us. They try way too hard to push their care plans and charge you for an exam, for something that has already been diagnosed or treated. The vet techs however are amazing. Proceed with caution. (THE LACK OF PERSONAL CONNECTION AMD CARE VCA DISPLAYS WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS CANNOT BE MORE EVIDENT THAN AI RESPONSE THEY GENERATED BELOW) 😢
Jun 19, 2025 · Jamey McCormickI’ve had some truly kind experiences here — especially with the front desk team and several of the vet techs who clearly care deeply about the animals they serve. I’m grateful for that, and for the way they made Zooey feel cared for during her visits. That’s part of why what happened with billing has been so hard to reconcile. I reached out multiple times this spring asking for a written invoice so I could pay my CareClub balance. I explained that I can’t take calls during the day due to work, and asked if we could handle things over email or through the app.I was told that wasn’t possible. Then, very quietly — at 1:01 AM — a $1,000+ invoice was added to my account with no email, no app notification, and no mention in our existing email thread. A few weeks later, I received a collections letter from a third-party agency.I never got a final reminder. No follow-up. No opportunity to resolve it before it escalated.I’ve filed a dispute and a BBB complaint, not out of anger, but in hopes that this might help improve communication for future clients. I would encourage anyone signing up for CareClub to be very proactive in tracking your account and making sure you're getting timely updates. The staff is wonderful, but the billing system needs serious attention.
Jul 03, 2025 · AmeliaThe staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They treat my cat with care and gentleness. They have treated my pets since 2008 and the service is always exemplary.
Feb 05, 2025 · Sherlock PendergastVery pleased with Dr Pego and staff. Very polite and accommodating for my cats needs. Always greeted by my cats name on the welcome sign near the door. Much easier to schedule compared to some other local vets.
Jan 18, 2025 · Kenneth HagerI was really happy they took in my wounded cat within a day online. It was a lifesaver. He got a bite or wound on his nose. He got stiches that day and was seen in morning. I will be do a recheck in two weeks i hope my kitty wound heals. Went for second appointment and was pleased with vet. My cat nose is basically normal. I give lots credit to vet that did the stitches. Wow look at his nose now. What a great job he did. This happened in august now its november. Its a little steep but worth it. Now i have pet insurance
