Mar 14, 2025 · Ivey LyWe were a part of VCA Lawrence for over 7 years with our sweet pup Ava, who had so many medical needs. The staff were always kind and caring and loved her so much. Dr. Farquhar was amazing to the very end and highly recommend her. Dr. Gera was there at the start with us and we just love the VCA staff.
May 01, 2024 · Katie BernardFor the most part the services have been adequate, not bad, but not super great either. Up until a few weeks ago, the only bad thing we experienced EVERY single visit was the 30- 40 minute wait to see a doctor. It just seemed like poor planning and a horribly waste of time for the customer. With that kind of wait time, a phone call informing customers that doctors are running late would be reasonable, but no one does that. But, since the clinic was near, we stuck with it. Very long story short, our dog was ill and we called on Sunday to get an appointment, but the earliest appointment was Friday. I asked to be put on the cancellation list to get an earlier appointment. The situation progressed and I called back on Tuesday to request for an exception to be seen as she was weak or to please give me a call to give me advice on whether I should bring her to the emergency hospital or if I could wait. The receptionist refused to pass my message on to the doctor. I asked several times for her to pass my message on to the doctor and she adamantly said she couldn't do that. It was unbelievable. I called other clinics and secured an appointment the next morning and asked VCA to send her records over there. VCA called back and wanted to confirm that we wanted records to be sent to the other clinic and I had said yes and again asked this other assistant to have the doctor call me. I stressed the importance of this.I did not receive a call that evening. Not getting a return phone call to a desperate pet owner in the time of need was extremely disappointing. A receptionist did call the next day. But our dog was already at another clinic and was fighting for her life. My dog died in the afternoon. She didn't die because VCA refused to see her. It wasn't VCA's fault that she was sick. But maybe that return phone call could have saved her life.VCA's motto "Where world class medicine meets home town-care". We definitely didn't experience this.
Oct 09, 2024 · Huyen SoumetI went in asking for anxiety medication since some major changes are coming (we need to separate our dogs). As the pet owner, I think I know how my dog will respond… the vet tried “coaching” me on how to train my dog (things I knew and did but did she care to ask - no). Anyone who meets my dog can tell he’s an anxious boy… by the end of the visit I got no anxiety meds and a write up for $1k in work. My question is - do the vets profit or earn commission from this? The vet wasn’t even concerned why I scheduled a visit in the first place. For my other dog, they tried to give her a rabies vaccine when she had one in 2023 (essentially vaccinating my senior dog twice) I know for a fact they have the records from another vet.. so are the people here just incompetent or trying to scam you? I don’t like this clinic but went since it’s my sisters preferred. I’d recommend West Valley Pet Clinic. Don’t take your pets here (VCA) unless you like getting scammed out of your money.9months later - they only want me dog to come in when she’s medicated (aka on anxiety medication). I guess it was more than just coaching….
