★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My husband and I took our cat in due to him peeing blood, they did tests, and said it was nothing except stress, then proceeded to have us buy a “calming air wall plug in” that was $30+, two weeks later we came home to our cat dying on our floor. Took him into the emergency vet and they told us he had a UTI and his bladder was the size of a baseball and that it would’ve been impossible to miss on tests. Never trust this place and don’t bring your animals here if you don’t want to lose them.Thank you VCA Animal Hospital for taking our money and letting our cat die due to the horrible “testing” you do.This is the cat you could’ve saved but didn’t.
April 16 · lexi SmithA mass on my older dog's liver opened and he was dying. We took him here and they were quick about diagnosing the issue and we knew our only option was to let him go.The staff and vet were great in our time of grief and sadness.Of course nobody wants to discuss pay during these times but that's unavoidable, unfortunately. While we wanted to take care of this at home, being Sunday evening, that wasn't happening and we couldn't prolong his pain. So, under the circumstances they did the best job we could ask. Thanks
August 26 · Daniel CollierI have been a VCA member for over 5 years. Over the last year (2024-2025) I am not sure what is going on at this practice. Long wait times for scheduled appointments and lack of customer service empathy. I didn't want to leave a review or leave VCA as the care I received in the past was excellent, but this is probably the fourth time I have scheduled an appointment, waited close to 30min to an hour over the scheduled time to be seen without being told anything about the vet running behind when checking in. It is not until I return to the desk to ensure that I was in fact checked in that I receive an update to the appointment. I completely understand staffing changes happen and have typically rolled with the changes, but my PTO for work and my pets care is important to me. Advise taking your pet somewhere else until things get managed better there.
August 15 · Valerie CaputoWe have decided to leave after many poor experiences with the veterinarians. The vet techs will bring your animal back to the room, listen to your concerns, then go talk to the vet. Immediately you are presented with costs which have to be agreed to before you are even seen by the vet. A recent experience was bringing our dog in for anxiety. 2 year old healthy dog, rescue, receiving dog training, but still very anxious. Our dog had already had a recent well visit and established care there. The vet tech has me sign for the exam fee then leaves the room. Instead of a doctor coming in to discuss our concerns and see what our goals were, the vet techs returned with almost $300 more in charges for me to sign and agree to labs. When I said I didn’t want labs, the tech was very rude and looked at me like I was crazy because I didn’t want to spend money on unnecessary labs. She stepped back out then returned stating Dr. Wilson wanted to know if we still wanted the appointment. When I asked the tech if my dog could be seen by the doctor without agreeing to labs, she said no. I was bullied into paying for labs, the doctor then came in for less than 5 minutes. Didn’t really discuss options, just listened briefly to symptoms and prescribed Prozac. Obviously wasn’t too concerned about handing me the medication without lab results. Labs came back the next day normal. I was so angry by the time I briefly saw the doctor that I just took the pills and left. When I later had calmness about me, I messaged the doctor who responded in a very condescending way and stated labs were a standard for this. As a healthcare worker for humans, I understand there may be needs for the animal population that we don’t see in my line of work. At least take the time to come in and explain your rationale. As the veterinarian, I understand that care is under your license, but respect the fact that I am an educated individual and my dogs are part of my family, not just objects. My issue is with the fact the doctor’s don’t come in to talk first or even assess the animal in the room. The assessment was done in the back when labs were done. There is no discussing options, there is do what they say or hit the road. We established care at a new vet and have expressed concerns to the manager. Overall the support staff are kind and knowledgeable, but the vets lack compassion, empathy and bedside manner. It feels like all they care about is the money and not your pet. Very much do not recommend.
June 25 · Michelle WilsonSad to say that after 20 years and 5 cats, we're taking our pets elsewhere. Prices here are now 300%-400% higher than other Veterinarians in the area.I took my 4 month old kitten to VCA to be spayed. VCA wanted over $500.00 for the "required" shots and exams prior to spaying. Then the spaying itself is almost $500.00. I immediately called another vet that was recommended to me to verify these costs. WOW! The other Vet in Schoolcraft is literally 20% of the cost. For example; Vca wanted a $198.00 blood panel PLUS $500.00 for the procedure. Not including the other "required" tests and shots."Other Vet" charges $200 for the procedure including the blood panel. OUTRAGEOUS!I'm not happy about this decision after 20 years, but I simply cannot justify paying 300%-400% more for the same procedures. Especially when the "Other" Veterinarian has much higher 🌟 reviews.🥺
