Veterinary Dentistry Specialists Introduce
For pet owners in Texas, the bond with a beloved animal companion is a unique and irreplaceable part of life. Ensuring their health and happiness is a top priority, and that includes their oral health, which can often be overlooked. While general veterinarians provide excellent routine care, complex dental issues require the specialized knowledge and advanced equipment of a veterinary dental specialist. This is where a practice like Veterinary Dentistry Specialists (VDS) in Katy, Texas, fills a vital need. As a dedicated specialty clinic, VDS is a critical resource for pet owners and referring veterinarians seeking expert care for a wide range of dental and oral conditions. The clinic’s focus is on providing a level of care that goes far beyond a routine cleaning, addressing everything from painful tooth extractions to advanced oral surgeries, ensuring your pet can live a healthier, more comfortable life.
The field of veterinary dentistry is highly specialized, and the difference a board-certified professional can make is immense. Many pets, including dogs, cats, and even exotic animals, suffer from painful and debilitating dental issues that are not always obvious. These conditions can range from fractured teeth and periodontal disease to more complex issues like jaw injuries or oral tumors. This commitment to a single area of expertise allows them to provide a depth of service that is crucial for complex or emergency dental cases.
A pet's inability to eat or drink due to tooth pain can be an incredibly distressing experience for an owner. The testimonials from real clients highlight not only the medical skill of the VDS team but also their compassionate approach to care. One client, whose 17-year-old cat with lymphoma and a heart murmur was saved after an emergency dental surgery, praised Dr. Miles and Dr. Simon for their "knowledge," "realism," and "reassurance." Another pet owner, whose kitten had a severe jaw injury, spoke of Dr. Miles's ability to explain everything and the "flawless" outcome of the surgery. These stories are a powerful testament to the clinic’s ability to handle highly complex and sensitive cases, demonstrating a level of professionalism and empathy that is essential in veterinary medicine. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love Dr. Miles and all of her staff!! They were able to get my little kitten (who was all of 19oz) in and get her jaw all fixed up. I have been a fan of Dr. Miles ever since she was at GCVS off 610. She removed one of my cats teeth due to stomatitis and we got 12 extra years with her! The kitten that she helped is named Twix and her poor little mandible had a horrible injury. Dr. Miles is so knowledgeable about all things dental related and takes the time to explain everything. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I will be forever grateful and thankful to VDS. They helped to give Twix a chance! And she is thriving! Pics show before surgery, night immediately after surgery, and then 2 progress pics.
June 05 · Laura HaeckelOh my gosh, I can't recommend VDS enough. Our kitty is 17 years old, with mid-treatment lymphoma and a heart murmer, and he had stopped eating or drinking due to his sudden tooth issues. Thank you so much to Dr. Miles, Dr. Simon, and the staff. They saved our boy and did such an amazing job.Pros:1) Our cat needed emergency dental surgery, and they fit him in the very next day even though their schedule was very full for weeks.2) Dr. Miles was so kind, so knowledge, and had an amazing mix of realism and reassurance. She didn't shy away from explaining the risks (ex. of the anaesthesia), but it was also so clear the very high expertise and the individualized care approach of Dr. Miles and the anesthesiologist Dr. Simon. I felt informed, but also confident our kitty was getting the very best possible care.3) Dr. Miles and the staff were communicative during the day, made sure I agreed to the game plan, and kept us informed. Dr. Miles also gave detailed post-surgery instructions4) Dr. Miles and Dr. Simon were thorough in their pre-anaesthesia examination, and made sure they approached our kitty's treatment in the best possible way for him.5) Edit: It's been a couple days, and Pounce's recovery has gone well. He's so much more himself again now, and he's back to loving his wet food.Cons:1) The only one I can think of is that VDS is definitely on the pricey side. However, there's a reason for that - in this case, you get what you pay for. Worth every penny 🐈
May 20 · Michelle FMy 12- year old doggie was referred from our vet (Tanglewilde Vet) to Veterinary Dentistry Specialists in Katy for his teeth. He was having severe tooth damage and needed to see a specialist. Dr. Chanda Miles was incredible with explaining everything and calming my nerves! Her bedside manner is wonderful! After we had our meeting, I was given the range of cost that the surgery would be ($4,824.35-$6,791.59), which to me was well over double what I had been quoted in the past, so I will say they are very pricey (but worth it). To move forward, you must pay the low-end cost immediately, so I did. After I left, I was kept updated via text of Weiss's surgery which comforted me. Then Dr. Chandra called and explained everything one more time and asked me some questions before she would move forward. In a few hours, I picked up my pup with his medication and we were on our way! Unfortunately, at pick up, they did say I owed about $500 extra so beware that the low-end is probably NOT what you will end up paying. Be prepared to pay more at pickup.OVERALL:PROS:1. Amazing bedside manner2. Clean facility3. Highly skilled specialists that you can trust4. They checked in a few days after the surgery to see how my pup was doing.CONS:1. I was not given an emergency number in case something were to go wrong as they are not open Fri-Sun (I was told to make sure I know of an emergency vet in my area but I found it odd that VDS didn't offer an emergency line)2. The extremely high cost
May 13 · Heather HibbardDr. Miles is far and away the best doctor I've ever experienced (both human and animal!) Her intelligence, knowledge, and expertise are unmatched; pair that with her genuine care for both fur babies and nervous parents and her practice is unrivaled. No other surgeon will ever touch my babies' teeth! Thanks to VDS Katy Dr's, techs, and staff for an exceptional experience. Thank you for taking such good care of us! Y'all are 1 in a million!
April 24 · Victoria FerrariWe are the B.B. Garcia'sMay the 9th 2022 (Monday 1530 hrs.) was a tragic event for us. Our Miniature Schnauzer was attack by a mixed Pitbull. Her jaw was fractured and severe injuries in San Marcos we had to take her to Allure in New Braunfels, Tx they did what they could considering the serious condition she was in, we brought Bella back to Houston and on Tues the 10th made NUMEROUS calls to multiply facilities and all of them could not or they were several weeks from being able to help. THEN VDS came up and they said they could see Bella the 17th at first which was still a few days with her being sedated and not responsive due to the medication (pain) she was on. Then VDS called and they might have an opening sooner and it came that we were able to bring her in on the 12th (Thurs.). ALL I can say from the moment Dr, Chanda Miles and her Staff took over starting from the Front Desk (Nicole) to the back it was an incredible process of restoring of her jaw and recovery. Dr. Miles and Staff (front Desk (Nicole))). They TRULY came though for us/Bella. The word THANK YOU doesn't seem justice enough for what they did for Bella and US!!!! But I know they Know that. They (Dr. Miles) TRULY has the BEST interest and CARE for your fur baby they REALLY understand that they are Family not just a pet or customer, but a member of your familyI HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. they are SPECIALIST!I submitted some pics. of BellaThank you
